  • In this video, Daiwa SS AIR TW: Real World Testing (Skipping, Pitching and Casting) (BFS Fishing), Hobie-Wan Kenobi uses the new Daiwa SS AIR TW in a variety of fishing scenarios to test the SS AIR TW ability to skip, pitch and do other close-range techniques for BFS fishing for bass.
    Link to SS AIR TW (Digitaka Discount Code 79J):
    www.digitaka.com/items/4/4/2/...
    I used the Daiwa SS AIR TW for about two months before making this video. The SS AIR TW has performed quite well and has been my most used BFS reel recently for bass fishing.
    The Daiwa SS AIR TW does perform best in typical finesse bass BFS fishing situations. The braking system is designed as such and not really optimized for super light lures such as a Trout Magnet or other really lightweight lures.
    For the rod, I used the Cashion Icon BFS for most of my testing. I did use the Phenix Classic BFS and also the Dobyns Sierra Series for bass fishing. The Phenix Classic BFS loaded very nice on the cast with weightless bass plastics but, lacked the power needed to pull fish from under docks. The Dobyns Sierra Series 701c was better but, I still felt better with more power.
    The open water performance with the Daiwa SS AIR TW I did not really talk about but, it will cast Ned Rigs and other lures just fine. I would prefer the Gekkabijin or Aldebaran BFS for those techniques but, The SS AIR TW can do it.
    From Daiwa Japan:
    The compact body inherits the fearless appearance of black × red and is equipped with the brake system "SS MAGFORCE" born from a completely new idea and DAIWA technology, which has been well received in recent years. After 10 years of evolution, the revolutionary machine of the DAIWA Bait Finesse Reel was born here.
    There are two main points of evolution. The newly developed brake system "SS MAGFORCE" provides unprecedented castability, and the standard installation of TWS and Hyperdrive DESIGN raises the level of basic performance.
    The new braking system not only improves stability but also contributes to the downsizing of the body. The body design and brake settings were designed by Yukihiro Sawamura, K.T.F., the father of Bait Finesse. It achieves a high level of both pitching and casting, which is the most important in fishing grounds that practice bait finesse. Of particular note is the extremely stress-free and stable castability emitted from the compact form. It can be said that this is a new frontier reached by the synergistic effect of DAIWA, which has been refining its magnet brakes for many years, and Mr. Sawamura, who looks at the frontline sites every day.

    Hey just want to ask what if we added sv boost inductor from zillion sv tw into alphas sv tw. I love the alphas but I also want the sv boost. Did you think it'll fit. As long as the shaft on both reel is similar I think we can do it. Since the only difference is sv boost have those base and sleeve. Do you think it'll work

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not entirely sure. The SV Boost inductor may travel a different distance when in use that the Daiwa Alphas braking system, issue being the depth of the magnets on the side plate could change the braking.

    • @anyaforger2021
      @anyaforger2021 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @HobieWanKenobi but if let say the shaft is the same diameter we could just slide in the sv component while maintaining the sama inductor from the alphas. Which means we theoretically just need to drill 2 small holes for the sv boost base n then slide on the component n top it off with the same alphas inductor. I really love the alphas but it's lacking the sv boost. So in theory if the shaft diameter is the same from zillion n alphas we could somehow transfer it to the alphas n boom alphas sv boost tw is born

    • @anyaforger2021
      @anyaforger2021 ปีที่แล้ว

      @kevythyrrakalastus1296 it crossed my mind since the alphaa is super great at reducing backlash. So the idea is by using alphas spool and inductor that's great at reducing backlash and the sv boost mechanism from zillion sv tw by combining both of them we might get something that's great ad managing backlash n can cast very versatile n long distance

  • @en8718

    Very interesting. How would you compare to the new Aldebaran BFS in regards to lure weight range, ease of use and accuracy? I would go with the Aldebaran if it wasn‘t such an ugly reel (I know, esthetics should not be that important but to me it is :)) By the way….I‘m really curious how the new ABU Zenon MG LTX BFS will perform. • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  ปีที่แล้ว

      The SS AIR TW is definitely easier to use. Less backlash prone without sacrificing too much distance. The SS AIR TW has been abused much more than my Aldebaran BFS and it is still smoother.
      Stream fishing is odd for dual purpose for any reel because of the required line difference. I will be releasing a stream video with the SS AIR TW soon.
