I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. If you are not popular, people won't care even if you have the best videos and the best content on platform. I am not beginner anymore, but I know how hard it can be (and honestly if I didn't use a lot of Fame- ster, I would have quit a long time ago. It made everything much easier for me, especially getting to 1000 subs and view hours).

I saw Vidiq talking about how important shorts can be in another video so I made shorts of the most important parts of my long videos.
I workout every single day and upload it all and on the shorts I just show the posing I do after each workout.
It started as just me documenting my journey but people reacted very positively and said it seemed very real and raw. I’m just showing the progress and the fails in the gym. I also saw vidiq talking about a new form of trending TH-cam videos, consistent and authentic ones with less editing and stuff. So I’m trying to continue being my raw self just showing my progress and commenting on it, inspiring people to start being active and move and workout in a way they love most! I love the gym so that’s what I do but I recommend everyone to just do the activity you love and go hard at it you will be a lot healthier

@@leolarsson8749 I try to. I watch a lot of their videos. I have done the settings they recommend, I try to improve my confidence, audio or angles every time. I try to make the thumbnails pop. I use tags and words in description that are popular in the fitness community and that TH-cam recommends in the TH-cam studio. I think I will download vidiq’s browser extension so see what videos outperform the channels average and subs and stuff like that.
They help a lot! I try to learn something new each time and try to connect with the few people watching, subbing and commenting on my videos

I checked the your channel, and here is few suggestion :-
1.Thumbnail is boring (clickbait work and if you want to show authentic side than atlest make it interesting )
2.Title give them an idea what and why should they watch it
3. The content might be too long different try video length and more engaging.

Yeah, I think Rob has enough credibility he shouldn't be afraid of saying "and here's a cool feature if you are on our premium VidIQ plan..." Would be better than bordering on click-bait and losing trust.
Yep, this is only available in the paid plans. I agree with @piggywahwah, this was an 8-min advert. Granted, paying for VidIQ probably boosts your channel greatly, but what if you actually cannot afford the 20/month? I mean, I spend money on my channel, I have never gotten 1c from it, so spending 20/month more is not possible in my current situation, so I will continue to make videos on my own, using whatever free tools they provide. This video got me excited for a few seconds, until I clicked on my VidIQ and saw that the tools is not available in my free version.

We have a channel with less than 1k subs and last week created an outlier with 250k views...with an educational content short...still a bit overwhelmed but it also boosted views on similar videos. We are now trying to replicate it without copying it -> big challenge tbh

I just started re uploading last month and got around 400-500 views on average per short. Now the last few days my shorts are only getting like 15 views what’s happening
Hopefully one day. Issue is to get the impressions, or at least that is what I feel like is missing
Yip. My impressions dropped from 156K to 57K for no apparent reason. My click through rate is the best it has ever been for my channel. With this drop comes a drop in views and watch hours. TH-cam plays a dirty game.
@@SonetLandman Indeed, I don't have those impressions, but I would love to, as currently I want only 1 thing...feedback...I know my content is not the best as it comes to edits especially, but if I want to create good content, I need the feedback to improve. 🥲
I had the same issue. I just recently started posting videos to TH-cam, I have a good outlier video with 12k views and suddenly my impressions tanked. For some reason on June 27th all of my video impressions slowed to a crawl and I can hardly get 10 views on shorts now. It’s pretty demoralizing. Like if I saw 90% of people were swiping away that would tell me people don’t like this. But they usually have 100% or close to it view rate because only 5 freaking people saw it 😑 thaaaat is the super frustrating part.

Hey, recently 100 subscriber channel here. Lately, I've been feeling like I need to restart on TH-cam. What does it do to the channel if I connect to the tool ? What privacy settings are compromised ? Also I don't even have 700 subs even yet got 21k views on a year old video and 11 k almost on a 5month old video, so that example you showed with 800 sub and 16k views seems very similar but different niche altogether. How come here I see no examples of technology/technical channel mentions etc ?

other small channels - just here to say that my channel was about 200 subs fewer this time 2 weeks ago, and as for the outlier stuff, the video which got the youtube algorithm's attention was ALREADY an outlier. so youtube decided to do an 'experimental' thing with my channel (denoted in my analytics) and one of my videos, and the results aren't huge, but way better than I was expecting. currently 90k+ watched minutes in 7 days, 24k+ views in 48hrs, etc. just because people on the other side of the earth are interested in the same thing I made a video on, and their seasons are different. now more than 2/3rds of my views are from the US where earlier they were from Australia. keep those views/subs comin'!!
I do have a question. How do you suggest dealing with time sensative content?
Thats all very well for some channels, however, my channel is a walking tour channel, I explore obscure out of the way towns and villages on foot, and go into great detail with no music nor commentary. Now, some movies get 26 views, others like regional cities or more well known towns get thousands of views. Lately I have been filming rural farming communities, I have been getting less than 50 views per video lately. I dont expect them to get high views, I go to these places because I have never been to them before.

honestly i feel like the barrier of entry isn’t necessarily harder nowadays, but it’s more of keeping your viewers interested. everyone is so used to seeing tiktok’s and reels that it feels unusual watching a video for more than 2-3 minutes…. it’s rough but i think the struggle is worth it

VidIQ could you tell us what game is best to views
What if you are an outlier channel and you cannot duplicate your own outlier? Average views are 1K, but I have a long form video at 75K and a companion short form video at 300K. Both are growing daily. The others not so much. The short form video at 300K is getting 15,000 views/day and increasing each day. It should hit 1M views in about 46 days for a total of 190 days since uploaded. But I can't duplicate the success. I have tried. So, at this point it's quite clear that not only does the algorithm not like me, but it's now playing sadistic torture mind games with me. It's evil.
I keep asking this question. I'm starting to think you don't read the comments. I have had a channel based on my art for 10 yrs but only sporadically made videos. I want to focus my efforts to youtube now and I am wondering if I would be better off starting a new channel. If not, would it be bad if I went through and deleted old videos?

I have watched one of my old favorite TH-camrs made a how to create a Let's Play video for gamers, and he has the general idea and the knowledge to make good TH-cam video whether you are new or not. I do like this video because the TH-cam algorithm is always, always changing, but it is giving me an idea on how to get my channel more visible for people to watch it. The algorithm finds my audience pretty fast and helps my channel grow.
I'm playing with shorts. I prefer the audience here - it seems more intelligent/curious. What I'm doing seems more suited to tik tok or insta - but I'm not feeling those and it feels like I can stick with YT there's more opportunity here for me. I haven't started creating long form yet until I've decided how I want to do that. It's fascinating. Thanks- super valuable- downloading your tool as we speak ❤

Niche channel is tough work. At the end we need to go back to "why" we started it in the first place. It's easier for people that are passionate about doing videos, that are here just to share their passion. Keep doing this, if this is really your drive. Viewers come and go, subscribers come and go (speaking here from the perspective of a very small channel that doesn't use clickbait)

My main outliers have been a few of my Shorts! I had a couple reach +10k views while my long forms do anywhere from 24-200 views on average! Good luck to everyone out there! We got this!
I think I'm learning a lot of important points far too late. 300+ videos later, I'm realising the damage I've done by completely neglecting everything. I'm frantically trying to restore the channel by adding titles, thumbnails, metadata, playlists etc. It might be easier to start over.

Started my Channel on the 8th of July - After notoriously doing the Research - And just doing it - I Posted my first 2 Videos as well as 2 shorts - Slowly but steadily we as small channels will get there
The thing with my channel is that one month I get lots of views but the other month I barely get any views. And when I get views, it doesn’t get any more and instead just sit there

Only at 42 subs with just some shorts. Still have yet to make a regular video. Working on my editing skills and def need to upgrade my equipment but this channel has been helpful with learning the basics. Definitely taking notes!!

I hit 1k subs with 7,000+ watch hours with 15 long form videos, 8 shorts, and 8 live streams in the gaming niche. Title and thumbnail are so so important. I can't stress that enough!

I have my own outlier video, ever since I posted it, it never quite died. And I’m not sure why, but ads actually pop up on it.
I recently reached +300 subscribers after an immense moment of stagnation! One of my videos turned out to be an outlier (garnering around +700 views), but the videos after that still get a decent amount of views which I’m highly thankful for. Keep the grind going, we can do it 💪!
