Even though we disagree on some fragrances, I respect that you speak your mind & are honest about what you feel. It's so refreshing , that infomercial point is so true. It's less reviewers and more salesmen & women 😞
Always a good laugh when I watch your video. Loved when you called reviewers infomercial sellouts, those sell outs are still better than the robes though.
Chanel No. 5 is my favorite of all time. The extrait is first for me, the eau de toilette is next, and then Eau de parfum. Premiere and L’Eau are also great. Chanel is by far and away my favorite house. Gabrielle in extrait form has been a recent favorite. I also like Paris-Paris. Next exclusifs for me is No. 22. I bought a lot of samples and minis of the exclusifs on line because I don’t live near any Chanel boutiques and the department stores do not carry samples here. They are too expensive for me for blind buys. I don’t adore Allure, but it is fabulous with Paris-Paris layered over it! Gorgeous!
Eugene, you are a savage, and I absolutely love it. Although I found myself participating in the “four for life” as I find myself kind of condensing my collection these days, but I think the “silliest” for me, that I absolutely reject, is I saw sauvage in several top four for life videos, and while I can wear sauvage as what I like to call people pleasing throw away cologne, I simply don’t understand that extend of praise. Anyhow, wonderful content!
Please don't despair at this request (especially when I mention the brand) but I would love to hear your thoughts on the underrated and, mostly unavailable, Clinique Wrappings.
I get that feeling too, I just stopped ultimately watching popular fragrance reviewers, because every fragrance I've been recommended that I've either blind bought or sampled, has smelled awful. I'm convinced many of them are spokesman lol. You've really gotta go with what you like and what smells good to you when it boils down to it.
Hahaha, Eugene, I like your blunt style! Not a fan of Chanel (never have been), nor Guerlain's (I think Guerlain's best days are decades behind them). As a collector, I agree, there are a lot of phony reviewers lately who promote or hype stuff more than actually... review anything. Marc, Robes08, is great: he can dissect a fragrance like no other, IMO, love his reviews. PS I do own New York Intense by Nicolai which I think is a niche take on Guerlain's classics. If you haven't smelled that one, you might want to check it out!
Your spot on. Most of these new reviewers no NOTHING about fragrances and are simply just marketing freebies sent to them cashing in on their affiliate links.
James Scott right! My favorite is when these reviewers release so-called “reviews” of a scent before it’s even released. Like they’ll get the free bottle or sample and wear it for a day (or less) and put a review up just so they can say look at me! I was the first one yay! Like it’s a big ego contest. When in reality it’s barely a first impressions let alone an actual review... BFL needs to gtfo with that bullish!t At least call it what it is “first impression” not a “review” smh fake af!
There are six extant legendary perfume houses: I.Guerlain ll.Caron III.Chanel IV.Patou V. Hermes VI.Dior - and one modern great: Goutal. If pressed, I would add (pre-1980) Rochas, (pre-1990) Givenchy, and (pre-2000) YSL; with very few exceptions, all else is a wasteland...
tasos vougiatzis common man what are you talking about what about tonka imperiale lhomme ideal parfum , linstant is incredible. Les orient collection. Get your head out of your arse.
I’m not going to sit here and say Cuir De Russie is trash because it’s definitely not but it can’t hold a candle to Bel Ami. There’s plenty other leathers I enjoy much more as well, like, Hermes’ Cuir d’Ange and Equipage, also Bandit and Cuir Ottoman are leathers I feel are superiorly crafted. Not to mention the utter olfactory masterpiece of a leather known as Cuir Cuba Intense by Nicolai Perfumer Createur!
Dior homme line are very good perfumes. New Dior perfumes are not good. Boring, generic, flat. Sadly, Les Exclusifs de Chanel Cuir de Russie is to pricey for me. But thanks for the review.
I really enjoyed the discussion of Coco’s steamy romance adventures. I noticed you stopped just shy of her being the little side slam piece of the Nazi officer lol
Definitely true what you said about perfumes...mostly filling up the space on the shelves.Mass production, hyper production, that's what we came to.But not only in perfumes. But I'm still glad that there are still brands which make interesting perfums.Oh,and I LOVE Jersey.A lot!Les Exclusifs is a great line indeed.
And I agree these are mostly just promoters/advertisers. I refuse to believe all of them have the same collection and taste which happens to be the most advertised ones! There's a girl that has like 30 in her collection but has the whole Parfums de Marly male collection which she makes a video for every other day, like ppl wake the f up does a cleavage cover the obvious fact what she's doing here?
I'm curious on what you think about Jean Patou's JOY EXTRAIT. Considering it's dubbed as the 2nd only to Numero Cinq as the best selling perfume of all time, personally, Joy is more than a shadow. There's a certain sincerity to it that just comes off naturally. It's sad actually knowinh she already died.
Have you tried mousse illuminee by rogue perfumery, a green oakmoss stunning goodness ..non IFRA regulated fragrances from an independent perfumer in California. They aren't just great because they are rich in oakmoss they are blended to perfection ..chypre Siam is on a par with vintage mitsouko
I agree with the love for Rogue Perfumery. I sampled most of his stuff and although not everything is my style (Mousse Illuminee, being a green fougere for example) I was completely amazed by the quality of it all. Chypre Siam was an instant buy for me after testing, and 40 Rogue is now quite high on my to buy list.
Very similar to Cuir Cannage though I admit I will still give Cuir de Russie the upper hand because of the richer florals and civet , also the overall Art deco feel of it. For me Nacree Rose by Guerlain is one of my all time favorites
Cuir Cannage is not even close to Cuir de Russie. CC is way too feminine, I bought the largest bottle, and now I am giving it away to a female friend of mine
I have to agree with you that the more new reviewers we have, the shittier the content gets. I am just glad that I'm not the only one that had noticed that. Besides you and Kristo, Chris from Scentland and Pep from Scentinel are the only ones that seem genuine and do quality work.
I do enjoy wearing designer/niche mass appealing fragrances, not so much for compliments but to smell good. Not everyone wants to smell like horsesh*t, public urinals or a homeless guy 😁. I do share most of your points of view though - not so much your fragrances choice (at least not yet). 👍🐽
Totally agree with you: Cuir de Russie is one of the best perfumes of all times. I have both pure perfume and EDT in two sizes, no EDP yet. It's been my signature scent for almost 15 years now.
Dior "Sausage," ha! Speaking of Guerlain, do you enjoy/reach for Heritage much? I don't think I've heard you comment on it much outside of that men's line video you did with Maria. I have the edt and am looking forward to cooler weather so I can get to know it better.
Cuir de Russie is indeed fantastic but I still pitch Caron's Tabac Blond above it (it's boring but true to say the reformulation is a pale reflection of the original, but still...). Never want to be without either. No 5; Shalimar; L'Heure Bleue; Mitsouko are extremely close second place.
Willy Wonka Nailed it!!!! I absolutely agree Bel Ami is not only the best leather but it’s one of my all time favorite scents overall, the spices are glorious.
Agree. What I can’t understand is how Olivier Polge made such a good perfume with the original 2005 Dior homme, then went and did the reforms for the Chanel exclusives line like that
Dior went wrong with Maison line because it`s getting so close to Les Exclusifs. Chanel is a floral joke and being watered down season by season of course.
There are A LOT of salesmen in this community. One of the worst is Timmy from "Imagine Scent". He seemed to have gone away... but now he's back making his infomercial BS videos. Recently, he tagged himself to "One Fragrance to Rule Them All" tag video... and guess what this fragrance was... Pacific Rock Moss 🤣. The guy is a shameless, salesman. 👎
I just can't understand why was so hyped that cheap shampoo smell of Cedrat Boisee, it doesn't even have anything in common with Aventus(I had Aventus before trying Cedrat Boise). Not the biggest Aventus fan, but I considering to be a good fragrance...and now I spray myself with Eau de Guerlain, because it's a really hot weather here in Europe...Eugene, this video is just compliments for real perfumes...and as you say, "Sausage" is for bros...what is the worst perfume ever made by Guerlain?(a new topic)
Lmao. How you feel about TH-camrs describing a perfume as “makes you smell rich”. I am so repulsed by that. I am not that into Chanel, but yeah the houses getting my hard earned $ have been Guerlain, Frederic Malle, Amouage (pre 2019), vintage Dior (80s and 90s) . Dont have full bottles of Roja but a couple of Rojas that I have decants for are ok. I’m nowhere near liking a majority of his perfumes enough to like the whole “house”. Too much about the bling and doesn’t seem thoughtful enough.
Wow got to get my nose on Cuir de Russie! What exactly is “Russian leather” and how does it differ from standard leather? I also noticed the note described in Zoologist Civet (which I enjoy). If you’re looking for content ideas making the rounds, you should try a tier list video! I’m only half-joking-would legitimately appreciate your take on an entire line like Chanel Exclusif or entire brands like Guerlain, FM, and Hermes. Make it happen Eugene! #wackpack
I’m not sure if Jacques Polge was the perfumer for this. Regardless his track record for Chanel for ME rates him as one of the worlds best master perfumers in history
Wow...I love all your videos on the most part but disagree with you in this one. Guerlain is my favourite perfume house hands down & you describe them very well. However I feel fragrance is personal and what one likes is different from others hence that's why there are so many out there. I feel you came off a little harsh & with a little snobbery but I still love your channel. Sounds like your fed up with youtube & doing reviews as you've pretty much covered Chanel and Guerlain. Anyway just my thoughts.
Finally someone who actually values perfumery as an art and craftsmanship and not just an instrument for getting cheap compliments. Yours and Scent Land are the best fragrance channels for me.
I agree. It is one I have to always have. It was my first perfume love at 4 years old and 54 years later it still is. Chanel No. 5 parfum is first for me, then next is Eau de toilette (totally underrated), then Eau de Parfum. I like Premiere and L’eau too. Many other perfumes have been loves for a time, but No. 5 is for always and forever!
You call them 'goofy' tags but you jump into the wagon... Anyway, it's just for entertaining purposes, don't take them too seriously. I'll agree with the infomercials though haha. You should get into the vintage masculines, they can be found cheap and some have untouchable quality.
Am only watching this to look at u, u r an eye candy and of course to listen to how deep and sexy ur voice is. But I can care less about colognes reviews. I do my own review on the colognes , because they smell differently on different people. Salute from Dubai ❤️🙏❤️
