- Haruhi Suzumiya is a TV anime released in 2006 through 2009 by Kyoto Animation. Since it's release, its become one of the most well-known anime of all time for its characters and creative blend of science fiction and slice of life. This week, after recently finishing the show 15 years after its initial run, I will be covering it!

I would say about once every 3 months I go through this loop of "It's been ages since I watched Haruhi, I want to rewatch Haruhi, I wonder if so-and-so would like Haruhi..." and then I remember the Mikuru scenes and end up putting it off forever.
Still the best anime of all times.

Not sure if you've read the novels or not, but there's actually more than enough material for possibly two more seasons and either two movies or an even longer movie than Disappearance, which is already the longest theatrical animated release ever. The author has breaks, yes, but he's already written an ending. The one novel released since the big three-book finale of Disassociation, Surprise part 1 and Surprise part 2 is just fun side-stories and lore.

If you haven't seen the Movie yet (The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya) then boy are you in for a surprise!! The light-hearted atmosphere of the series takes a DRAMATIC turn, and the agony of enduring the "Endless Eight" reveals itself to be a neccessary plot element for understanding the motivation of one of the key players in the Movie. ENJOY!!

Kyon and Haruhi are like an old married couple who constantly bicker and argue with each other yet can't stand to be apart.
The description is wrong. The first season of the anime came out in 2006. Season 2 released in 2009.
Also, watch the movie. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

Endless eight were meant for only 4 episodes and the remaining 4 would involve The disappearance of Haruhi. However, since that arc became a movie, the production crew needed to fill the rest of episode slot

Endless Eight is fascinating. There is no way any director or editor worth their salt would let you make 8 same episodes with some minor changes. Even if they did, they would re-use as much as possible. I guess one of the most surprising things about the whole ordeal is that no other anime studio didn't replicate this and cheap out during production.
I guess its really the Blazing Saddles of animation.

I've been meaning to watch this anime; I've long known of its reputation as an anime though. Especially for a schoolgirl anime.
Nice video but calling out Kyon for being weird to Mikuru and not Haruhi is insane, because she’s much worse when it comes to that 💀

I dropped the show at the first episode of endless eight- I enjoyed what I watched but the fanservice was so distracting for an otherwise pretty good show
