    I understand the short box on the AT4X model but I'm still disappointed with the fact that the other models now only offer the short box. I like a 6 foot bed on my midsize truck and I can't see myself buy a truck with a short box!

      Ford Ranger offered a 7 foot bed back in the day. I do miss the old midsize Ford Ranger and Dodge Dakota :(

    Good looking truck and capable off road package. But feel that most people won't be taking a $66,000 vehicle off road. If you do take it off road and break something, good luck trying to convince the dealer that you weren't driving off road. Most of these trucks will be pavement princesses. Lol

    • @mtbrdude
      @mtbrdude ปีที่แล้ว

      You're allowed off road. Unless GMC is funny about stuff. My Nissan Frontier and Pathfinder both have off-road sections in the manuals.

      I drive a Gladiator Rubicon. Sticker around the same as this Canyon AT4X. I've been taking my truck off-road from day one. I know plenty of others. Sure... we're the exceptions. But you absolutely see these getting driven directly from the dealer lot to the trails all the time. Otherwise... let the pavement princesses owners be the first owner.... just means you can buy one at a cheaper price down the line and it'll still be fresh.

      In 2022, I saw an ad for a 2016 Canyon 4x4 with 100,000 Kilometers on it. It was at a Volkswagen dealership 4 hours away. The salesperson told me it was so badly damaged that they normally wouldn't sell it to an individual buyer but instead to someone who repairs and flips vehicles. It had minor dents on almost every body panel, broken mirrors, the paint was missing from above the wheel wells and it had minor surface rust underneath the truck and on the exposed metal on the wheel well lip. To me, this was normal 4x4 wear and tear, and if the price was right, I was going to buy it. Then, after all the warnings about how damaged it was, she told me the price was $20,000. I had to walk away because of the price, and the picture online was an extended cab, but it was a crew cab. The salesperson said they just pulled a picture off the internet. It was worth the trip because I learned that the second generation Canyons are made of good quality steel to only have light surface rust. I learned that the paint is prone to peeling or flaking off probably because the surface wasn't prepped properly. I also learned that if you use and damage a modern 4x4, it will have no resale value.

    @PeakDecline ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I don't hate on people because they can't afford a truck. I was there too once. I drove my first truck to over 300K miles. But the constant complaints are tiring. The new Canyon is the most luxurious mid-size truck ever. The AT4X takes that luxury and also adds on a ton of off-road capability.... OF course this is going to be an expensive truck. Even for a mid-sizer. This is still upwards of $20K cheaper than a Sierra AT4X. The Gladiator Rubicon when fully loaded also pushes that $65-$70K range. When the Ranger Raptor arrives I promise it'll cost this much too. That's reality. You can't have literally the entire catalog of parts and options and not expect to pay top dollar.

    The AT4X looks nice but I honestly don’t think people will take an expensive truck offroad like that until it has some age. It’ll truly get used for what it’s designed for 10 years from now and hopefully it’ll make it that far.

    Great looking truck. I really like the muscularity and all the fender panels and the windows are turned up like the old ones. The tent is small and even you would be in the fetal position all night. 66,000 us is a good full size price and I would likely go that route.

    $66k. That’s absolutely INSANE. I paid $35k for my 22’ Canyon Elevation. With taxes, title fees and other tacked on BS it came out to just under 40k and that was a kick in the nuts but still 26k LESS than this thing. It ain’t worth it..

    • @hewster1
      @hewster1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You got the lowest trim level in an older generation and don't have anywhere near this trucks design, power, capability or tech. Yes, it's worth it.
      A '22 AT4 will cost you $44k and it's only discounted because they want to get rid of the old generation.

      @@hewster1 😂

    • @nelsonvanvickle8862
      @nelsonvanvickle8862 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@hewster1 Let me correct you on a few things-
      First, I DID NOT get the lowest trim level available. That would be the Elevation Standard. I got the Elevation, which is the comparable trim level to a Colorado LT, and I picked it up for $3k below MSRP because I had a late model sedan I traded that was paid off and they gave me mad money for it. It was not discounted, and NONE of their inventory was discounted at the time. $38k is a lot of money for a mid size truck I don’t care what you think. So $44k for a truck is BIG money, especially in this economy. Which brings me to my second point- they’re not pricing ANYTHING on these dealership lots today at a “discount”, not even the used vehicles 😂 But I suspect that WILL change as the economy continues to flounder and these stealership lots start to overfill with inventory they can’t move.
      Unless gas is 10 dollars a gallon and a loaf of bread is twenty, $66k for a mid size truck is PRICE GAUGING and DOES NOT accurately reflect inflation. I don’t care if it comes with a microwave oven and a butler. So I’ll say it again proudly.,IT AINT WORTH IT..😎

    • @hewster1
      @hewster1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Evil Monkey trade in doesn't equate to lower msrp. That was just knocked off of your trade in value 🤣. By your definition, I got my '23 AT4 for $20k since my raptor was fully paid off and I traded it for $36k. You got an elevation, it doesn't matter what extras it had, it's the lowest trim. That's two statements that show how naive you are. And it absolutely is worth it. Maybe not to you, but to me it is. $38k, $44k, $50k isn't a lot of money to me. I don't start thinking about how it could affect my daily spending habits until I get near the $85k mark.

    Great video gents! That is one loaded-up truck, with the factory winch etc. I am surprised that GM doesn't offer any engine choices. Maybe that's a segment thing, since it seems all other manufacturers offer only a single engine, sometimes with different tunes. Nevertheless, gm's truck division generally has a generous number of engine configurations. Nice lifestyle vehicle, for the buyer with a well-padded bank account. Tiny bed, tiny payload, less-than-awesome towing, loaded for off-roading. How long until it breaks down? Are GM small turbo engines well-known for reliability? Duramaxes yes, small gassers not so much?
