    I could see having to go to the screen to turn on and off the fog lights/ high beams could be annoying after awhile. Not a fan of these small turbo engines in trucks personally... definitely not in a half ton! But good looking Truck and great review Steve!

    Are you sure it's turbo lag your feeling and not just transmission lag? The gearing on this new 8 speed is longer and coupled with the larger tires could make for a bad time when it comes to torque converter slip and power to the ground.
    Too often do people blame power delays in a turbo vehicle on turbo lag, when it's not actually the engine lagging they're feeling

  • @imnotusingmyrealname4566

    TK Dudes, love watching the reviews... I've been eyeing off this truck for sometime noe, holding out for the new Canyon. Former 10yr Jeep Wrangler guy, Jumped ship and got a Toyota TRD Pro Off-road for some refinement before the JL rolled out. But as a hard core Aussie off-roader living in the land of Stars and Stripes dreams and towing more weight TRD 5000lbs looking to up the anti another 1000lbs this is right in my wheelhouse. Great review from you Northern Blokes lol. love your channel can't choose which model to choose now. HA! One Day the guys will figure out Ala Carte so you get the trim you want with the options to buy in and get what you really want... Say for example DENALI TRIM with front and rear LD's why can't we the people have a little luxury and some Trail Goodies. TAKE NOTE GMC BAST**DS, OIH!

      @imnotusingmyrealname4566 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right now the off-road trims are treated like sport trims. I'd say the only way to get traditional luxury is in the full-size segment like the Toyota Tundra 1794 with TRD Off-Road package. Also speaking of Toyota I'd definitely wait until the new Ranger and the Tacoma are out. Then you will have the choice between all the new midsize trucks, Canyon, Colorado, Frontier, Ranger, Tacoma....

    A few items missing at this price point ($66K for Edition 1). Axle ratio option (3.42 seems a bit high for 33" tires, let alone potential for AEV 35" tires in 2024), Homelink button functionality, multiple integrated auxiliary switches, rear recovery hooks, more coverage on skid plates including fuel tank and flat fold down rear seats. BTW, i've looked at several Canyons and all of them had water in the tailgate compartment. Not sure GMC's claim for water tight is supportable. A great stance and certainly a much improved interior.

    I understand that GM might want to streamline their manufacturing process, but that doesn't mean you have to eliminate all choices. The customers are giving you their hard earned money, so give them choices. Car manufacturers don't give you anything for free, so why not give the customer exactly the truck they want. I hate the packages they force on their customers because I just want heated mirrors, I dont want to "upgrade" to a more expensive model. Some people prefer a turbo, but others prefer a supercharger. For the price of these trucks, I think a premiere 4x4 would come with everything you need to take it off-road and not destroy it. A winch is a good start but it also needs rated recovery points (heavy steel brackets that bolt to the frame), rock sliders to protect the body and doors and all the options available for Jeep owners. If GM thinks anyone would choose these 4x4s over a Jeep, then they don't understand their market. Jeep has a panel with several auxiliary switches and endless choices of aftermarket parts available to make your vehicle as extreme as you want. GM puts one auxiliary switch in a 4x4 and thinks that's good enough. This looks like they started designing an SUV, then changed their mind and turned it into a truck. A car, a truck, and an SUV are three very different vehicles and must be designed for how they will be used. Is the AT4 supposed to be a serious 4x4 because it has a G80 locker? I used to own a 2002 Sonoma 2wd that came stock with a rear locker. I have a Heads Up Display for my Base Canyon that I bought from Amazon. The HUD I bought uses Bluetooth to connect to my phone and has an optional infrared / night vision camera for seeing through fog and snow. I can use the aftermarket to buy better seats and anything else that I want to build a better (more comfortable) truck than the Denali at a fraction of the price. My Canyon is a manual, that was only available with a 4 cylinder unfortunately, but I replaced the stock muffler with a Cherrybomb Vortex and now it sounds like an aggressive 6-cylinder, it accelerates faster and fuel economy improved by one liter per hundred.

    Watchinf your test drive review videos on the gmc canyon elevation and at4 model trucks has me convinced that I will go trade in my 2023 Tacoma TRD Off Road truck as I do not like how it's 6 speed automatic transmission hunts for gears too badly as I am driving on the hilly terrain in northeast Tennessee when I go drive from Kingsport over southeast into Johnson city/Hampton and Erwin areas at the base of the Cherokee national forest.
    Since this will be my old man truck I might as well spend the extra 4,000 to 7,000 dollars to buy the better midsize truck. I like the at4x or the Colorado ZR 2 midsize trucks, Just not sure I would want to spend 54 to 57 grand on a midsize truck. I am very much interested in test driving the new 2024 Tacoma TRD PRO model truck since they are adding a front disconnect sway bar feature on the 4x4 truck. Plus the new seat8ng position being higher up and the new turbo 4 cylinder engine and 8 speed automatic transmission should solve tgat stupid gear hunting problem I am dealing with on my 2023 Tacoma TRD OR truck.

      To reduce turbo lag feel can you manually lock out higher gears & stay at an RPM & transmission gear that gives you power when you want ? Like F150 when you toggle down to 8th or 7th gear & leave it there. F150 will still downshift below setting but not lug engine & give instant power. i.e. keep revs in the torque band of engine

      @@TruckKing underrated comment. Peak output figures don't give you the complete picture on how the vehicle will feel when accelerating. The linear curve of an N/A engine will be missed when they're all gone

    Sorry, But I use my light switch constantly. Literally used it less than an hour ago pulling up to place to eat that is all glass and the front few parking spaces face the dining area and at night headlights shine right in the faces of people at tables. (Parking spaces are angled up to make it worse). Will be going to many holiday drive thru light shows that I need to turn my lights off. Southern summer time thunderstorms in the middle of the day, need lights on.

    Nice looking, well appointed truck. What will it look like in 10 years? GM is able to make some very capable and reliable vehicles, will this be one of them? Previous generations of this truck were not exactly paragons of this particular virtue. The midsize truck market is odd: the best selling truck (Tacoma) doesn't win any of the typical numbers games, seems not only years but generations behind in technology, and has a weird seating position that isn't comfortable for everyone. So what does Toyota know that GM doesn't? Is it long-term vs short-term vision? Is it that GM is willing to throw everything they can think of, whether or not it's ready for primetime, into their vehicles, while Toyota seems to be willing to lose all the little fights ( numbers games for hp, tq, towing) in order to win the war ( longevity, reliability, resale value)? That doesn't seem like a strategy that should work, but here we are, again, with an older Toyota model handily outselling both GM models combined. How? Why? Great, informative content, gents!

    This integrated headlight control is for all the dummies running around out there with their headlights and tail lights off at night. Way too many people with an auto headlight switch that don't use them.
