    1. Do most people use public healthcare, or is it more usual to buy private insurance?
There's no private health insurance in my country, it's just public health insurance, and almost people are provided it for free, so it's more usual to use public health insurance.
    2. Are public healthcare high-quality and reliable? Why or why not?
I think it's just right for hospitals which locate in cities. They have high-quality doctors and equipments. But in the countryside, the healthcare workers are not very qualified, and the equipments here are really poor as well.
    3. Are all residents entitled to free public healthcare, or are there restrictions?
No, not at all. You are only free if you have insurance, but insurance will not be responsible from A to Z for a big operation which costs a considerable amount, you still have to pay a part for that.

Hi Thien. Thanks for watching this lesson and sharing your response. Here are some tips:
      1) '...in my country; it's just public health insurance...' or, '...in my country. It's just public health insurance...' not, 'in my country, it's just public health insurance...'
      2) '...hospitals which are located in cities...' not, '... hospitals which locate in cities...'
      3) '...and equipment,' not, 'equipments.'
Hope this is useful for you!

The present generation is so lucky to get access to quality English for free like this one. When I was studying English in Thailand 50+ years ago, I had to go to British Council's library to borrow or read books in the library and borrow reel tapes to play in the booth: Press Play, Listen, Pause, Speaking, Play again. It was hard, but it worked. I did that 2-3 times a week for two years. The result was not bad, got a scholarship from Australia govt to study there in 1971.

Thanks for sharing your response, Kamol! Excellent writing. My only suggestion is, it's not necessary to capitalize each item after the colon besides the first letter if you choose. '...booth: press play, listen, pause, speak, play again...'. Hope this helps you!

So I went to public healthcare and they gave a prescription. However, these medicine did not help me . After I went to hospital and doctor diagnose me had dengue. Therefore , I feel so worried. I had to stay overnight in hospital. After 6 days , I didn’t get fever and headache also eyes pain. I was discharged . However , I would get some strength back in a few weeks.

Thanks for sharing, Tram. Here are a few suggestions for you:
      1) 'Today I will tell you about...' not, 'would'.
      2) It's more common to refer to dengue fever as a 'disease' and not a 'disorder'.
      3) '...I got a headache...' not, '...I got headache...'

Not most people use public healthcare, and it's more useful to buy private health insurance. Public healthcare isn't high-quality nor reliable because the public hospitals are not only poor and antique but also they aren't spacious and a lot. What's more, not all residents entitled to free public healthcare; there are restrictions.

Thank you for the very good lesson. Could you please correct my speaking below:
    1. Do most people use public healthcare or is it more usual to buy private health insurance?
In my country, most people don’t use public healthcare. It is not more usual to buy private health insurance. People will go to any private doctor or clinic to check if they feel ill or not well. If something serious happen, they will go directly to the hospital
    2. Is public healthcare high-quality and reliable? Why and why not?
No, it is not. The public healthcare’s quality is very poor. People don’t have enough bed to stay. Further more, the quality of medicines is not good and reliable. And the health care workers are not professional and qualified.
    3. Are all residents entitled to free public healthcare, or are there restrictions?
No, they are not. It is our wishes. Only the people who have the job and their companies are forced to buy insurance for their workers. Or some people who work for the government are having insurance. And some other people can buy insurance themselves. The rest of people don’t have any insurance.

Last year, one of my friend had an accident. He was sent to E/R immediately for an operation. After that, he was kept in hospital for about one month. He could not stand stuck in the room for too long, so I came to visit him every alternative days to walk him around the hospital yard. The visiting time was two hours, so it was enough for us to talk all gossips. Actually, he recovered quite fast, he asked doctors to be discharged earlier but they said it was impossible.

ın my country people generally use the public healthcare because private insurance or private hospitals are expensive.
Public healthcare is high quality because halthcare professionals are knowledgeable and experienced. However, since public hospitals are busy, you may have to wait in line for each procedure.
If you make minumum wage or higher, the instution you work for has to pay your ınsurance.you can also purchase private insurance, though. but if you have low income or no income the state gives you a green card. with this card you can examined and treated in public hospitals for free. but if you want to benefit from private hospitals you might have to pay high fees with this card. so this is a restriction.

In our clinics, doctors always have a prescription and a pharmacy neighbored, but one thing bad is that they do not care about the age, they even give some ibuprofen tabs to 5-8 years children. I remember UK, because I have stayed there for 2 years, there was a very good protection. by the way i like how OOE teaches and it's content.

Hello. Thanks for lesson. Each district in my country has its polyclinic, which is free for residents. You can visit a doctor, who doesn't specialized in one area, like your GP. If you need further treatment she or he can refer you to another specialist, who works in the same polyclinic or refer you to go to a public hospital if you need more targeted treatment. If you are registered with a polyclinic it's cheaper than you go directly to a hospital. There aren't private health insurance in my country.

Thanks for sharing, Tamara. Here are a few suggestions for you:
      1) '...doctor who isn't specialized...' or, '...doctor who doesn't specialize...' not, 'doesn't specialized'.
      2) '...it's cheaper than going directly...' not, '...it's cheaper than you go directly...'.
      3) 'There isn't private health insurance...' not, 'aren't'.
Hope this is useful for you!

In my country, Italy, and in particular in my region, public healthcare is like a dream. People can't afford private practice, so they are compelled to wait months or years before they can have an appointment. For example, I have a chronic thyroid condition, but my sooner appointment with a doctor is next June. But the symptoms are now.

in my country Egypt , the health care is really bad and the public health care is kinda torture .. it's a deeply low quality , you can say there's no public health care in Egypt , if we make a comparison between Egypt and UK you can say we're living under the ground in Egypt..you can't imagine how many patients get to the doctor's office per one hour ( only one hour ) !! about 70 patients !! do you imagine that ? a 70 patients in only 60 minutes , do you what that means ? it means that the patient has only one minute to be checked and take the prescription , how come

In my country,if patients be taken to the hospital by the ambulance, there would be no choice for t hem to decide, because the ambulance takes them to the public ones. After GP diagnosis ,the patient could decide whether to stay there or not

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1
      @Oxfordonlineenglish1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Great, Haniyeh. Thanks for sharing. Here are some corrections for your writing:
      1) '...if patients are taken to...' not, 'be'.
      2) 'After a GP diagnosis,' not, 'After GP diagnosis'.
Hope this is useful for you!

In my country, most people use public health care and they use public health insurance to cover full or a part of arising fees. In my opinion, public health care is less quality than private places, but it is more affordable for people. I usually choose private hospital as I don't have so much time for waiting.

    • @Oxfordonlineenglish1

Nice response, Diana! Here are a few suggestions for you:
      1) '...public health care is lower quality than...' not, '...public health care is less quality than...'.
      2) '...so much time to wait,' not, 'for waiting'.
