    Marina, it is a pleasure to listen to you speak sincerely, without pretending that everything is fine... but showing the small details that you have to improve. This way you inspire me much more to follow.

    I have watched almost all your videos starting from " 50 phrases in English hopefully in 10 minutes " to this one. I will say this is a masterpiece among them all.The dialogues are applicable to many situations when you are going to see a doctor . You spoke very slowly and clearly so that the learners will easily understand them. I hope more videos like this will come out from you in the days to come.

  • @maximilianochalub
    @maximilianochalub 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've analyzed this video and found out that it actually has several conversational mistakes:
    2:26 -- If you have a runny nose, that could be caused by "the" flu, not "by flu" as Marina says. She misses the definite article "The".
    2:43 -- She says "When you just feel slightly unwell", which even though is not grammatically incorrect, sounds rather formal and clunky. The preferable way to say it would be "When I am not feeling well", or even "When I am unwell", but again, as for this two, the former is better.
    2:47 -- She says "...you have runny nose". Correct: "...you have a runny nose". She misses the indefinite article "a" here.
    3:03 -- Again, she says "When I feel unwell" and actually she's repetitious with this one throughout the entire video. Avoid saying it.
    3:23 -- She keeps on saying "runny nose" without the indefinite article "a".
    7:04 -- She says she has migraines I believe referring to chronic or constant migraines. If that's the case, it would have been more accurate if she'd said "I suffer from migraines" instead of "I have..."
    11:42 -- She states "You say I have fever", which is wrong. You have "a" fever. Again, she misses the indefinite article for the noun fever as it's a symptom.
    12:56 -- "I feel very ill". I believe "sick" is the correct word here as "ill" is when you suffer from a serious illness or condition. Specially because she is emphasizing the degree of being ill: "very ill".
    13:12 -- "Let me measure your temperature". That's wrong. You take your body temperature, and you measure air temperature. Therefore, "Take" is the correct verb here.
    13:57 -- If a doctor gives you a medical prescription, you won't "collect" it but you will pick it up at the pharmacy. To collect is not correct here but the phrasal verb to pick up.
    I hope this helps :)

    Dear Lingua, Thank you for your learning, video, stories, advice and support. It's really help me to build my confidence to try speaking English. I used to dont believe with my language skills. I always feel depressed if I do something wrong. I am afraid my friends will bully me because I speak English to them. I do that because I want to improve my skills. But after watching all of your videos, particularly the "Afraid to Speak English" episode, I realized that what I've been doing is correct. Don't be afraid of the grammar, structure, etc. Just try to speak first and be confident. The native speakers had always done wrong.....Am I mistaken? Please correct me if I make a mistake. Once again, I am really thankful to you. I hope you have a happy life and stay healthy. Amin.
    Love,
    Nadya from Indonesia ❤
