I often used Mini-Vans for Airport Transfers to local casinos. I used every brand. The Toyota Sienna is unequivocally the absolute SUPERSTAR of this class for reliability. Only a direct hit from a bazooka can stop one of these.

Surprised Toyota chose to make this exclusively hybrid. I have had two Siennas and both have been outstanding. The V6 is a great engine. Mileage is admittedly mediocre, but I would have to drive a lot of miles to justify taking on the hybrid for some of the reasons you mentioned on the drive. CVT would be a deal breaker anyway.

I traded in my 2014 FJ Cruiser for a 2021Sienna 2 months ago and no regrets. We are empty nesters but went with the Sienna because we love road trips, camping and 3 day music festivals. The Sienna has way more room than the FJ did and is much easier to drive, lots of space and more than double the MPG. We got a small Keurig and my wife plugs it in to make coffee while we're on the road! No more $6 coffee stops that take 20 minutes in a wait line. Don't get me wrong, I loved the FJ and it was a bucket list vehicle for me but for what we do the Sienna is serving our needs well! Because the 2nd row seats don't come out I picked up a Thule cargo box which holds a TON of stuff and I still have the 2nd row seats for additional passengers. We looked at the 4Runner, Highlander, Pilot, etc and we have a couple of friends with older Siennas and for our needs, the Sienna made the most sense. On 180 mile trip from southwest Missouri to Kansas City I got 36 MPG and from KC to Denver we had 33.5 MPG @ 80 mph in June with the AC on. Running the AC does reduce MPG but in cooler weather I've experienced 37 MPG in the city. I actually love the CVT transmission, yeah it seems loud at times but that's rare and you don't feel the vehicle shifting and lurching to find the right gear. LOL alcohol may have played a part in this reply, don't judge!

My wife and I are looking for a larger car because we have “2 under 2” and in our current SUV (‘22 Lexus RX) the space is tight when loading the cargo area. We decided to start looking for a minivan and went to see the Carnival a couple of days ago. It is a nice car, drives smoothly, but the dealer is charging $7k for “additional equipment” that bumps the ODO price to $49k. Simultaneously we research the Toyota and for the same price, we get a much better car, even though it’ll be a couple of month before it arrives.

The aforementioned should offer the tried and true bulletproof 3.5 liter V-6 engine @ 296 hp.

Between the Sienna and Carnival personally I think I’d lean towards the Sienna 1) mpgs and 2) the Carnival is too “boxy” for me.

This is probably not gonna beat the driving feel of the last gen with the 300hp v6. Still a cool van, but honestly I thought the last gen was cool. It's styling was bland, but in a good way.

I think I would have to Kia on this one something about a 4 cylinder with a CVT pulling a trailer with 7 people in it does not sound very good. Toyota needs to offer a V6!

I hate that it doesn't come in a traditional all gasoline option, that would give you fold and stowe for the middle row seats instead of hybrid battery storage
