@@WiredLain_ it can actually be traced back to the 2007 writer's strike. When you look back at a lot of those pre writer strike shows so many of them have lists somewhere on the internet of which episodes are relevant and which are skippable because they would have episodes long meandering before getting back to the overarching plot for one episode.

It absolutely blows my mind that Mike isn't at 1 mill yet. The quality and consistency of his content is literally some of the best there is on TH-cam right now. The man singlehandedly spawned a new trend of content. The amount of recommend videos I get of other you tubers who have copied the iconic PLL backdrop to do their own review of what show they're interested in is massive. And yet Mike comes up with amazing new concepts everytime with a fresh view point on something that lots of others have already tried to do. Mike you really are a gift to this platform
To be clear he was taking after what a few other people had done before, and he states this in the PLL videos. I will say the PLL wall was QUITE iconic, and he definitely kick-started the trend.

Shannon and Boone having to unexpectedly move seats and subsequently surviving the crash only to both gruesomely die shortly afterwards is the “course correcting” element displayed many weeks ahead of when that theme is revealed.
Gruesome? For Boone yes for Shannon I disagree. She just got shot and then shortly died afterwards. Which also with Lost while you can say I'm a Lostie sometimes the way people die confuse me a bit like some people can survive more serious injuries while other die of a gunshot wound very quickly when realistically it would take them more time to even get near death
I’ve never seen Lost but all the mystery and hidden clues with the numbers and stuff is making me grateful l don’t have to figure it out for myself. I couldn’t look away for 10 seconds without pausing because I’d miss a whole huge plot detail. I was HOOKED. this looks like it took the most insane amount of planning, filming, and editing and it was so incredibly engaging and fun to watch - I hope you’re really proud of this one, Mike!! you really did THAT🙌🏻
If this had you hooked you really need to watch the show. The atmosphere is unlike anything I’ve ever seen and the show is so rewarding to watch because you keep figuring out new details even with rewatches or as you research things.
"Numbers" is THE EPISODE of all time! it has everything! curses, comically bad luck, wood working, a man on a hyperspecific mission, rage quitting from a fast food resteraunt
Mr. Michael-phone, you truly are a game changer and a trend setter. If you decide not to do any more after lost and gossip girl I won't blame you but you have literally changed the internet game with these series, you should be so proud. "this guy is smokin...and he's also smoking a cigarette 😜" this is my third rewatch of this recap and it never gets old i freaking love it. can't wait for the season two recap!! currently on season three of lost and it's my first time watching.
The fact that Lost starts out decently grounded in reality and slowly becomes more and more unhinged is really what draws you in like it locks you in like your too committed now to leave
it’s been 10 days and I just finished watching all of season 1 because of you micheal. I CANNOT stop saying “yeer tuken butt the numbirs” it’s truly concerning.
I hate starting a new series it always feels like such a commitment, especially for the long ones everyone's already seen. I absolutely GOBBLE up these recaps. Being in on the fun without having to spend hours on a show I might not even like just to get a couple pop culture references sucks and these videos are so incredibly well-made and hilarious. THANK YOU
This is the format by which we'll enjoy old TV shows in the post apocalyptic wasteland: listening to a wise storyteller breathlessly recount each character beat and plot point as we sit around a camp fire together under the light of the stars ✨
I died laughing at: "The scariest thing is not what they find in the waterfall, but the fact that Sawyer is swimming in jeans." This was brilliant. Can't wait for the other unhinged season recaps.
I think I will start after this video. I saw S1-3 when I was around ten and omg the feels I got just from this recap and the clips. it's intense and I never finished Lost
I own physical DVD copies of the first two seasons of Lost that my dad bought back in the day (even when he saw the show as it aired on TV) and the box for season two has the numbers on the cover. It's really cool
People who weren't there will not understand how exciting THE HATCH was. For weeks at school thats all we talked about, theories, conspiracies, all of it. When the light came on, holy shit! It was truly a golden era of TV
love the representation of LOST fans from our generation. We were in the trenches and we definitely were too young to be enlisting. I had a middle school teacher who'd always ask if I caught the episode the night before and I was always like "how is THIS the one thing we have in common"
‘Too young to be enlisting’ NO because why was I watching this show at 9 years old!!! I was invested in every inch of the plot and I hadn’t even seen my first decade of life yet!!
I was in high school when it came out, there was a Lost group at one school I went to! Now I understand why. I told my husband Mike watched it when he was NINE😂
i always watch your videos because tbh i’m pretty lonely in my daily life & it feels comforting to be included in someone’s day-to-day, especially when it’s someone like you who’s always soo entertaining. but i wanted to comment because i wanted to say it really meant a lot to hear you express how you’ve been really feeling. i could relate to so much of what you were feeling & saying & it made me realize that there’s no shame in the life i have & that im doing my best just as you are, & you have an incredible life even despite your struggles. thank you for sharing & being such a positive light & speaking on good energies n such 💟
I gotta say, this is a testament to how good this show is, because I too watched LOST when it premiered at age 9-10, (and haven’t rewatched it since then) but as you’ve gone through the plots of the first season I’m vividly recalling the episodes and their stories 😳 nearly 20 years later their still engrained in my mind.. the impact this show has!!
“He was the sacrifice the island demanded” has worked its way so thoroughly into my family’s day-to-day conversation that I forget that other people might not know what I’m talking about
yo this show was SO IMPORTANT to me as a young teen and i never even REALIZED all the numbers showing up even in s1. thank you for educating me. this is fantastic.
Describing Sayid’s extreme and extensive knowledge of… torch-uh techniques as simply “less than cute” is HYSTERICAL but it’s MIKE so what did I even expect?
I actually remember sobbing my eyes out at 12 watching the first Locke centric episode when he realises he can move his foot again amidst all the chaos around him . I was like this is cinema babes ! I love lost
my sophmore english teacher was SOOO obsessed with lost we watched an episode in class and analyzed it for a screenwriting unit. i’m about to send this to her
LOST came out my freshman year of college. A group of friends and I managed to watch every single episode live...wherever we could, on literally whatever TV we could find. I remember watching the season 2 opener (and omg what an episode it was) by myself on an ancient TV at an interstate truck stop 😂 I'm 38 now and it makes me so happy to know that there are people so much younger than me who want to re-live (or experience for the first time now!) what a surreal cult phenomenon this series was!! Your overwhelming dedication to making these passion project videos has totally stirred up all the excitement I felt back in 2004-2005, and how much i looked forward to watching every new episode and then going on the forums to geek out and speculate.
mike you've absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one, the sheer production of this is amazing!!! and 2 hours and 35 minutes??? we've been FED!! i was watching this with chips and drinks like its own movie, haven't been this entertained in a while, i hope you're proud of this masterpiece!!
Mike I have to say I have NEVER watched a single episode of Lost but I’m 38 minutes into this recap and not only am I ENGROSSED in the content but I think I am successfully following along so far???? I know Lost gets absolutely nuts later on so I do not take this for granted! Loving loving loving this.
Its scary how much mike is able to verbalize every terminally online gay thought in the exact way I think in... for 2 hrs about LOST 😭😭 im so entertained
I remember everyone talking about how Lost was confusing back when it was one air. But I watched it through streaming and when you dont have 1 week between episodes, you remember all those little details much better and it actually makes a lot more sense. I think it was a show meant to be watched in chunks instead of week to week. One of my favorite shows for the interesting concept, story and characters. Loved the recap!! Cant wait for season 2 :)
Sayid was a changing moment for me, when Charlie punched him and he almost instantly takes control of the situation...what a man, akso his torture scene with Sawyer is always slightly funny
ok guys- the recap concept is so intriguing to me. i'm like 90% sure it's supposed to be a map of the island, and the pictures he left in are supposed to represent where they are physically in relation to each other in the final 5x5 grid. SO excited to see how this plays out!!
And him repeating how important numbers and patterns are to him. I also think the colors relate to the level of which they have explored those certain areas. I also feel like it could be “conflict ” places.
This was my thought as well. The colors would all be present in a colorized map of the island and the only things that images that are shown in the grid are the locations that you could use place a square (or the grid?) on the map.
Mike this show was actually scaryyy. like. I was scared. Thanks for doing the work because I literally would never have the courage to watch it by myself
In the 8th grade, my male English teacher, made us watch Lost season 1 as a project. After each episode we had worksheets about the episode, relating to plot, characters and symbolism. Watching this excellent piece of media by Mr. Mic has given me flashbacks of watching Lost in a dark classroom with my classmates. We would all be go goobed together. I completely forgot how attractive Sayid is. Definitely wish Naveen, who plays Sayid, was given the opportunities for more roles. Very excited to watch the rest of the show with Mr. Mic since I never saw beyond season 1 because it seemed too much to watch all of it. Mr. Mic you’re a genius.
Omg i came to that part and felt the SUSPENSE and drama!! And then the video ended I went like babe sorry for being basic and dumb what the fuck does it mean 😔
tbh the show is only interesting until the finale of season 3, at least for me. I recommend the second season but it gets really boring towards the middle of the show
Watching this, I was immediately transported back to 2004. The EMOTION, the SHOCK, the DISBELIEF of watching live week-to-week. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR EFFORTS.
seriously. I rewatched it with someone had never seen it before and the moment Locke's theme came on I already preemptively started sobbing, talk about pavlovian.
We are the same age and I'm also Australian, the comment about Heroes and Lost being aired on Thursdays and being the only reason you were allowed to stay up late was such a throwback for me. Both these shows were key formative aspects of my childhood. I remember I also had to resort to taping one or both of them when my dance classes moved to Thursday and clashed with the air time. I watched them on Sunday afternoons in the family living room (we only had the one TV hooked up to a VCR) and this time was SACRED. My family knew to be silent and not bother me for those 2 hours.
No literally. It’s the first show I remember binge watching. I started watching during finals week of my freshman year of college (terrible time to find a new obsession). I had already moved most of my furniture out of my dorm so I spent hours sitting on the floor watching Lost 😭
@laurent1009 yess me too! I got into it with my sister my senior year of high school and binged it on Netflix (I think this was 2011.) Every night like .5 seconds after my foot stepped off the school bus, we would be SEATED, watching Lost, late into the night
never realized how much I missed out on by assuming this show was just survivor but fiction. I kept getting goosebumps with all the mystery reveals and this is only season 1!!! thank you so much for making this!!
havent seen anyone mention this but Jack's blood type being O negative the universal donor again plays into Jack having this savior complex that he has to save everyone just like O negative blood can....the symbolism... it's all coming together.... yup... yup
I love how Sayid revealed to Charlie that there was heroin on the plane so casually, like obviously he had no idea Charlie was an addict, but it was like "Oh yeah over there was where we found a plane stocked full of heroin! Crazy right? Anyway, let's go"

"You can't outdo the doer if the doer is always changing what's being done."
To be clear he was taking after what a few other people had done before, and he states this in the PLL videos. I will say the PLL wall was QUITE iconic, and he definitely kick-started the trend.
@@beatm6948 He's not the first but he definitely gave a unique spin on how these deep dives are being done. I like that he switches it up for every series that me makes.
@@beatm6948 oh yeah I defs know he wasn't the first to do a deep dive, what I'm talking about specially is the backdrops and the way he presents them which I've seen replicated. Even though he was inspired by the VPD video that jenny did he formatted it completely differently than how she presents hers if ya know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, I love Mike but I'm not deluded enough to think he invented deep dives 😅
i do not understand how he doesn't have 1m subscribers AT LEAST.. it makes naur sense

“Drove the plane” lol I’ve never heard piloting phrased like that b4 I love it

Honestly I'd watch a mikes mic unhinged recap over any full length movie. This is honesly such a good time, the 2 and a half hours just FLEW by. The details and the amount of work is insane, so girlies please turn off the adblocker cause he truly deserves it
ooh seconding Jane the Virgin
Shannon and Boone having to unexpectedly move seats and subsequently surviving the crash only to both gruesomely die shortly afterwards is the “course correcting” element displayed many weeks ahead of when that theme is revealed.
Gruesome? For Boone yes for Shannon I disagree. She just got shot and then shortly died afterwards. Which also with Lost while you can say I'm a Lostie sometimes the way people die confuse me a bit like some people can survive more serious injuries while other die of a gunshot wound very quickly when realistically it would take them more time to even get near death
Mike referring to the Kate-Jack-Sawyer love triangle as ‘the flirty geometry’ is sending 💀💀
omg that reminds me of the 'optical illusion levels' of romance comment when refering to the gossip girl girlies like how powerful is his brain 😭
Mike asking if he is more like Phineas or Ferb while radiating supreme Candice-energy
He would kill a karaoke version of busted

Phineas aesthetic, Ferb tendencies and Candice energy for sure

Hello to all the people coming back to rewatch this before the season two recap
I was very sad that I couldn't watch it because I tried and had ZERO clue what was going on.
The atmosphere is unlike anything I’ve ever seen and the show is so rewarding to watch because you keep figuring out new details even with rewatches or as you research things.
you genuinely need to binge season 1 and 2. The twists and turns in S2 are SO engaging. I can't imagine waiting weekly for the episodes.
You've definitely changed the way I talk about shows forever; I quote you constantly.
"this guy is smokin...and he's also smoking a cigarette 😜"
this is my third rewatch of this recap and it never gets old i freaking love it. can't wait for the season two recap!! currently on season three of lost and it's my first time watching.
The fact that Lost starts out decently grounded in reality and slowly becomes more and more unhinged is really what draws you in like it locks you in like your too committed now to leave
mike you’ve done it again. constantly raising the bar for us all
And doing it flawlessly.
the Mikes Mic soft launch of his writing/filmmaking career is giving me chills

I am in the process of doing that currently 🙃.
“Why’d they have to kill the hot one” made me laugh so much
it’s been 10 days and I just finished watching all of season 1 because of you micheal. I CANNOT stop saying “yeer tuken butt the numbirs” it’s truly concerning.
So you are? You're talking about the numbers?
I’m afraid so !!
Same! I finished season 1 and now am watching season 2 because of Mike and can’t stop saying yeer tuken butt the numbirs
you’re laughing. hugo is talking about the numbers and you’re laughing.
same here! on season 2 now & it’s a wild ride so far, i can’t wait to see mike’s takes on it
I hate starting a new series it always feels like such a commitment, especially for the long ones everyone's already seen. I absolutely GOBBLE up these recaps. Being in on the fun without having to spend hours on a show I might not even like just to get a couple pop culture references sucks and these videos are so incredibly well-made and hilarious. THANK YOU

This is a great series tho, only 6 seasons. Definitely worth watching!!
This is the format by which we'll enjoy old TV shows in the post apocalyptic wasteland: listening to a wise storyteller breathlessly recount each character beat and plot point as we sit around a camp fire together under the light of the stars ✨

I literally started watching lost for this recap - let me repeat - I watched over 23 hours of tv for this 2 hour recap. It was 100% worth if
Unwavering commitment
I think I will start after this video. I saw S1-3 when I was around ten and omg the feels I got just from this recap and the clips. it's intense and I never finished Lost
LITERALLY SAME. I just finished lost season 1, specifically to watch this. gonna start fresh with Lost season 2 tomorrow. I am so excited!
The way THIS video made me realise how many times they sneakily referenced the numbers before even introducing them- God Lost is such a masterpiece
I own physical DVD copies of the first two seasons of Lost that my dad bought back in the day (even when he saw the show as it aired on TV) and the box for season two has the numbers on the cover. It's really cool
"so in inconsequential and meaningless" *side eye
so many people are putting out movie length show recaps but only mike's mic reinvents the genre every time he posts a video
I was worried when Mike was gone for so long but he was clearly getting ready too serve harder then ever
People who weren't there will not understand how exciting THE HATCH was. For weeks at school thats all we talked about, theories, conspiracies, all of it. When the light came on, holy shit! It was truly a golden era of TV
For anyone who was worried (like me) the dog makes it through the whole series 🥰

Thank you! That's really great to hear, the doggo doesn't deserve anything less.
I was about to google exactly that 😂 Thank you, I can sleep peacefully now!

love the representation of LOST fans from our generation.
I love this.
From a fellow kiddo who was allowed to watch lost 😂
It wasn’t when it premiered but I watched it 9-10 (haven’t rewatched it since) and why do I remember it beat for beat plot for plot?????
The fact that him mentioning the bamboo under the nails made me have a visceral reaction of watching that scene for the first time

LOST came out my freshman year of college. A group of friends and I managed to watch every single episode live...wherever we could, on literally whatever TV we could find. I remember watching the season 2 opener (and omg what an episode it was) by myself on an ancient TV at an interstate truck stop 😂
I'm 38 now and it makes me so happy to know that there are people so much younger than me who want to re-live (or experience for the first time now!) what a surreal cult phenomenon this series was!!
Your overwhelming dedication to making these passion project videos has totally stirred up all the excitement I felt back in 2004-2005, and how much i looked forward to watching every new episode and then going on the forums to geek out and speculate.

Its scary how much mike is able to verbalize every terminally online gay thought in the exact way I think in... for 2 hrs about LOST 😭😭 im so entertained
never seen this show but my heart was racingggg, michael is such a good story teller
Forgot how absolutely FERAL I was for Sayid as a literal 9 year old. The pink print for me personally.
It was Sawyer for me. My God that man was beautiful.
Hahaha I was so anti-Sawyer. I’m glad he had his fans too.
Sayid was a changing moment for me, when Charlie punched him and he almost instantly takes control of the situation...what a man, akso his torture scene with Sawyer is always slightly funny
For me it was Jin, but I loved Sun so much that I felt bad about it
How did you feel about his relationship with Shannon?
ok guys- the recap concept is so intriguing to me. i'm like 90% sure it's supposed to be a map of the island, and the pictures he left in are supposed to represent where they are physically in relation to each other in the final 5x5 grid. SO excited to see how this plays out!!
And him repeating how important numbers and patterns are to him. I also think the colors relate to the level of which they have explored those certain areas. I also feel like it could be “conflict ” places.
Sorta kinda thinking s2 has to expend the island to the right to make room for the others camp and the the Sara ma stations but ur so correct
This was my thought as well. The colors would all be present in a colorized map of the island and the only things that images that are shown in the grid are the locations that you could use place a square (or the grid?) on the map.
I am more interested in the recap concept than the actual recaps. I am on tenterhooks for the analysis of the recap concepttttt
Mike this show was actually scaryyy. like. I was scared. Thanks for doing the work because I literally would never have the courage to watch it by myself
There is so much beauty, love, friendship & human connection in this show, it'll totally cancel out the scary parts if only you give it a fair chance.

Yas same!
I knew I recognised the actor (Naveen andrews) from somewhere when I watched sense8, he plays the role of jonas maliki! and very well at that

NOTHING will ever beat the feeling of watching through Lost for the first time.
I wish I could watched it for the first time again, I heard about the show for a while but never got to watch it until pandemic and thank god I did
No literally.
I didn’t know I needed this video today but I needed this video today 🙌
