This is my first-time hearing and reacting to the band The Cult and their song titled "She Sells Sanctuary".
Ian Astbury knows how to put on a wild and expressive performance. I MUST mention that the guitar Billy Duffy played really caught my attention! It is actually as striking as a diamond.
Thank you to the person who recommended this song in my comments. It is absolutely epic. ✨
You will not regret listening to the original song/video sans my commentary/observations:
    • The Cult - She Sells S...
Please keep in mind that I am new to reacting to songs and music videos. I am learning as I go. If you have any advice, please do let me know.
I recommend adjusting the video quality settings on this video to a higher output quality.
    Have a lovely day/evening! ✨

I think The Cult have always been a great hard rock band. In my view they’re like a melding of AC/DC and The Doors. Ian Astbury is definitely a very spiritual person of deep beliefs- a musical shaman. And later in their career, the band went on to rock harder still.

Not too many people can pull off filling in those shoes, Ian comes close, very talented singer and stage presence, but there is only one Jim Morrison. I can't imagine anyone filling in for Ian in The Cult as well. Paying tribute and respect playing The Doors songs live is the highest form of honor. Rip to Ray Manzarek also.

I like your research and attention to details! I assume you know Ian sang with The Doors for a bit?
The Cult is one of my favorite bands ever. I saw them live in 1990, and I have met Ian (briefly)- wonderful spirit.
I went to boot camp in 1989 and only got to call home twice the entire time. I was never one to be homesick, but I sure missed my music, so, on the 2nd call, I just had my sister put on the second side of "Love" to play into the phone until I was kicked off. Powerful soundtrack to a strange life.

    • @AmarissNevae

Thank you! I feel that it's important to at least give a few fun facts about the person or group I'm watching/listening to. I am somewhat addicted to reading about new topics that interest me. I could understand why they chose him to play for The Doors. He has a different kick to him.
It is wonderful that you met him. Even if it was a brief crossing, your paths were entertwined, and that is magic. ✨️
I can't believe they only let you call home twice! I am glad to hear that your sister was so cool to let you hear this album. That's a cool story. I am sure it holds a special meaning to you. I want to hear more of it. I like that it's titled "love".

    • @jas137
      @jas137 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

@@AmarissNevae From the "Love" album, "Rain" also got a little mainstream play, but "Revolution" is beautiful and "Brother Wolf, Sister Moon" is an experience while the flow of "Phoenix" is mesmerizing and "Nirvana" might be the catchiest. Likely none are the best fodder for views on YT, unfortunately, but well worth delving one way or another.
Their album "Dreamtime" NEVER gets mentioned or any love from ANYONE, but it's fantastic. "Spiritwalker" is one of my favorite songs of theirs, and many more gems in there, too. The first four songs are a buttery smooth punch to the face.
Then there are many instructive ideas in the "Electric" album. They began recording the songs but didn't like the energy, so they hopped across the pond to work with Rick Rubin and complete the album. Those initial recordings are called "The Manor Sessions" and show how different the same songs can be just by changing music producers.
Also, it introduces one to Rick- a force of nature that hasn't just worked with EVERYONE, but helped create THE breakout album of most of them. Including, obviously, The Cult with "Electric," one of my favorite rock n roll albums ever made. "Love Removal Machine" got some mainstream play, and "Wildflower" just a bit, but "King Contrary Man" is on rock n roll Mt Rushmore of songs for me.
th-cam.com/video/vabwGiTWRVo/w-d-xo.html is a great introduction to Rick Rubin, and it doesn't play any of the music, so it doesn't ruin reacting to anything in the future. If you watch it, then songs from the Manor Sessions, then the same songs from Electric, you can see some of the Rick Rubin reductive magic in action.

I appreciate the song recommendations. The song titles sound so earthy. I will surely venture through these songs. I love nature, so these sound quite intriguing to me.
I will be sure to check out each album and each song that you mentioned. "Dreamtime" sounds so dreamy, lol.
It is fascinating that the album sounded entirely different just by switching producers! I am glad that they were able to grasp what they truly wanted. Thank you for this information and the links. Super grateful! I love to read and discover, and this helped a lot. ☺️

@@Masssol Yep. I hadn't gotten as far as "Sonic Temple," but "Edie" is especially beautiful and powerful, and "Soul Asylum" is unique and mesmerizing, with "Sun King" and "Firewoman" making the album a flaming powerhouse. Listening to a Cult song is a bit like looking at a beautiful woman- whichever one you are seeing at the moment seems the most overwhelming.

@@AmarissNevae also especially around the whole polestar & little & big bear thing
just a little around that of all the stars that soll and must go left around northstar
that very modest often hard to see dimm flikkering little star standing up there in true north yeh and the angle of where polestar stands to see in the sky differs of where u stand on earth like me in live in way south east of holland and i see poleastar in like a 5 degree to 7 degree angle from when i would look straight up
facing north and then lower my head slowly then polarstar its right there and big bear is right above my flat 4 hours around midnight if i look from one of my balconies up and on one balcony i can see polaris but streetlights make it fuzzy
      - look also if u look at certain stars and of how they stand in some star-figurine and i recommend lying relaxed on yr back in the place u think is close to polestar
to look at that and see with some patience that that all then often goes in weirdlike compressed pressed stretched or packed in on one-an-other figurines and when that happens when lots of stars r there
-- then u can see stars moving in rather quick moves to another point and making a different figurine or moving also slower
changing an obvious figure or gather of stars and it all must go round the polestar right to left side
and beneath polestar is the northpole
middle point of earth with a big extreme heavy magnetic stone + positive which is the real --mount zion.or.mount meru.or.black mountain.black rock -- mount zion
in middle of all surrounding fast flowing rivers who then behind the rock come together and in hole in the earth these waters go down hard
straight down in a hole also middle of earth
and then four pieces of the greener pasture park meadow lands in form of a lily go around all that and keep the fast rivers and mount zion and between the lands are side rivers to even get to middle there and if u can find one yeh
and antartica actually is really a ring of 300 feet ice walls around the earth
in - negative this is basis outline
      of flat eath .. enjoy
