If you've ever thought aero and big wings are gimmicks, please go watch the turn at 6:40 in this video and compare it to the track footage of the C6 ZR1 on the same corner at 180 mph taking a slight left turn. The c6 generation had no aero to speak of and you can clearly see a very sketchy turn where the back end floats up and gets out at 180 mph. 99% of drivers would over correct and be dead. The GT2 on the other hand, thanks to all that crazy aero, is PLANTED. The back doesn't walk out, and it appears effortless to take that turn at 190. Perfect example of why lap times don't tell the whole story. HOW you set a time is just as important
we don't know how much reserves were untouched in the SVR, who knows if the motor was stock or had more power than the proclaimed 770 HP Lamborghini did no 2nd try on their Huracan Performante to regain the record, why should they do with the SVR?

Astonishing, switching to 7th in a PDK ... not! Well in a shifter, pulling into 7th would be worse, PDK knows the exact rpm, when switching gear is better than staying in lower gear with drowning power/torque. Trackpace-orientated car magazines like Sport Auto refer quite a time, that changing gears manually is not anymore superior to automatic gearselection, as the shiftlogic of modern dct & at is perfect
@@typer8093 Yeah I know that the PDK is one of the best automatic gearboxes, and thats it's much quicker than manual. What I meant is, it switches to 7th at ~308 kph, and gains only a few kph after that, towards the end of the straight. So probably if the gears were shorter (switching to 7th sooner and exploiting more of the 7th gear), it could gain more acceleration. I don't know if I'm making myself clear.
@@asmoth360 Well the gearbox knows best when to switch gears & due to PDK without torque interruption. i'm thinking in 6th the torque & hp were already dropping down & acceleration in 7th is gerater, due to more hp/torque

The 7th gear was only used near Antoniousbuche :) I was kind'a wondering if the GT2 had only 6 gears until there :...D. I think he made a mistake on one right hand corner (who doesn't?) (maybe) so, it might be possible to improve the time a little bit. I wonder how can a driver memorize 90 corners... In my days I could memorize a circuit in around 5 laps (typically short of 10 minutes), but these were around the typical 12-15 corners circuits, nowadays, at my older "hobby driving" age I take 4 times as much, at least ,to memorize. Nordshleife? I'd take a year going around to even dream of memorizing it :DDD. I live too far away from there but I'd love to drive there one day. Keep up the good traditions, Germany, never let go of places like this (and the Autobahn limitless zones), keep yourselves UNIQUE! Great driving.
Porsche/MR say they only changed aerodynamics to make the GT2 RS MR seven seconds faster than the original GT2 RS. If both cars are road legal why weren't these changes on the original car?
Well everyone is able to drive to manthey, okay shipping cars in container to germany is not really an option, but i think Porsche Zentrums all over the world would be able to change the rear-wing-position in Manthey-mode As the position of the wing is locked, it's position is always a compromise between track performance & topspeed, as the topseed decreases with more track orientated downforce,. I heard in an interview with a porche-engineer, that downforce @ Vmax is near or at limit of the load-bearing capacity of their tires & they limitet the Vmax to 340 km/h, because of the michelin-tires Best example is the C7 with Z51 option, it decreases Vmax by 30 km/h, but its track performance is superior to c7 without it
You've also probably noticed that the "changed aerodynamics" took away a lot from the top speed.. The GT2 in this video is strictly track focused.. Perhaps it wouldn't be that much fun to only be able to reach 310~ km/h on the Autobahn. :)
An official lap record can be set in an official race event only. That was clearly communicated by commentators of the VLN Cup final at the Ring recently. If a lap record is set during a test lap like in this great clip you can be proud for sure and use it for the marketing but it remains an unofficial time. And the car has to comply with the specification rules valid for each of the official competitions.

All of the Cars are using tires that are not availible on the retail market so they all use some tricks.
