    You sir, are underrated! Heck of a TH-camr and one awesome, welcoming personality. One thing I would add is right around 4:10 you talk briefly about what to do when your key fob battery dies. Another cool thing to note (that I learned from a buddy) is you can use the physical key fob to press against the push start button in the vehicle and it will start the vehicle in the event it is unable to detect the key fob (when its battery is dead). Pretty neat!

    Just bought a 2018 Hilander, limited, AWD, tow hitch receiver, blizzard pearl with ash interior. I love it. Toyota put a few shots of Lexus in this car. Fit and finish is high end and luxurious. The ash gray (more like dove gray) is beautiful. The drive is smooth and powerful. Your review is so detailed. I watched it before I bought and now I’m reviewing again because you do a better job than the dealership at explaining the functions of this car. I learned so much! I’m going to watch your other HL videos too! Thanks for taking the time and being so thorough 😊

    Excellent information on “all” the features of the Highlander; I just bought one this week and the dealer salesman gave a quick intro to some of the options however he did not fully cover them as well as you did. Your full description has been VERY helpful. If I hadn’t already bought the Highlander, after viewing your video I’d be at the dealership asap. Couldn’t be better! Thanks

    Toyota will last far longer than most auto manufacturers. They focus on quality and reliability. People call them boring and simple but that’s a good thing. It’s what makes Toyota’s bulletproof.

    I have been driving my 2015 Highlander for about a month. This video showed me several features that are on the car that are really nice, and that I would never have used; such as the free weather report. Thanks Car Guy, you and the Highlander are both awesome.

    Hello Brock, I just wanted to send you a quick message because I was looking into getting the Toyota Highlander for a while, with some doubts, and you just cleared every single one of them. Unfortunately, I do not live in NC or anywhere close to it, but you can tell Mid State Toyota that I would most definitely be one of their new customers if I lived there.
    Again, thank you so so very much for the incredible review!!!

    Awesome job in reviewing all the features of this vehicle. Ijust committed to get a 2018 model today - a Limited version. I can see returning to this video to get a refresher on all the various systems. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I'm in Canada so that's why i'm not dealing with Mid State Toyota - but they sound like they're a class outfit.

    Recirculate does not give an extra fan speed, but stops outside air from entering the cabin. Useful if you are driving behind a smelly truck or if you want to cool the cabin fast. It's also useful to warm the cabin faster, but unless the air conditioner is on as well, the windows will mist up (the air conditioniner dehumidifies the air, even during heating)
    Good, detailed video, thanks!

    Great Highlander review. I wish Toyota would upgrade the infotainment system to include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other than that, it's hard to find fault with the Highlander as a family hauler. On a side note, you did an amazing 2016-2017 Volvo XC90 tutorial about a year and a half ago. I watched that video at least 20 times to figure out the features on the 2017 XC90 I bought last year. (Who has time to read owners manuals these days). Consider me a new subscriber.

    Your review methods are in great detail. I am in the market for a new car, SUV size. I have been looking at other reviews but they don't seem to get very detailed like you do. Great job. Do you have a review on the 2018 MDX ? Just a thought, you might consider investing in a drone. That was a nice perspective to see the vehicle from. Do you work with that one dealership only?

    Brock I believe snow mode starts in higher gear. Second to be exact so theres no wheel spin. If it was in lower gear that’s where the wheels would spin!!! Great video Highlander is more roomy then Rx350 too. Love this suv getting rid of Rav 4 for Highlander. Much more roomy smooth and better ride.

    Toyota isn't entirely staying out of just making huge gas guzzlers for the sake of making them. I bought a 2018 Sequoia and it sucks fuel like a Dyson vacuum. It run on all 8 cylinders ALL the time, has a tow rating of over 7,000 pounds, seats 8, and is great for carrying myself to work. It is so American... love it.

    Thanks for the great review! You're awesome man I love your attention to detail, just like some people who commented below I drive a Lexus and I guess like any car you have to drive or own a Lexus to really appreciate the brand, a review by anyone for any make or model is at the end of the day just an opinion but also a helpful tool if your looking to change your vehicle
    My "opinion" is that the Highlander is better looking than the new RX from the point of view of the body styling, for me the RX while an awesome car is a bit too out there for my taste, that said I love the RX and that's what I drive but not the latest model though, I am thinking of changing my car and this Highlander looks very good its a shame that you didn't road test it for us, I might get a test drive of both the RX and the Highlander and see what happens, also I watched a review of the RX and it looks a bit cramped in the drivers position with the center console in the way! Might have been the camera angle??

The only thing Toyota should improve is the dashboard console, its hard to reach the buttons and controls, and im tall at 6'1" and i have trouble reaching, Toyota should turn the console towards the driver, it would be so cool.

    Agree, these are just about perfect SUVs especially for families. There's a lot of Lexus creeping into these beauties. Hybrid version of the Highlander is near the top of my list.

      I just bought a 2018 limited. I told my sales guy that they have put a few shots of Lexus in this model. The interior is very luxurious (I have the Ash interior, it's like a dove gray, with Blizzard Pearl exterior) Fit and finish are phenomenal. I find the ride quiet and very comfortable. It's a very functional and practical vehicle as well. I have a 17 yr old son, and plan to use this to tow our vintage camper to various parks!

    Great review. Have you ever drove a FWD Highlander in the rain or snow? I currently live in Colorado and have an AWD vehicle. Toyota is offering me a great deal on a 2018 Toyota Highlander LE, $29k out the door. However, I'm not sure a FWD will work in winter weather. Let me know your thoughts, please.

    I was about to put an offer in a highlander with wheels like these and it turns out that they are plastic covers over the wheels and with the lower trim models they have fully aluminum wheels! Kinda disappointing if you ask me

    Wonderful video!!
    Thanks so much for posting it!!
    A few things...
    1) I have one of these vehicles. I learned a lot from your video. I just LOVE this vehicle. It has far exceeded my expectations. I very highly recommend it.
    2) The vehicle that you reviewed is a Limited Platinum, not just a limited. Only the Limited Platinum edition has some of the features which you noted and liked.
    3) You skipped over the engine auto start/stop feature. You didn't mention some other important features like the adaptive cruise control etc at all.
    Still, I really enjoyed the video and very much appreciate your're posting it!

    We are looking into the 2018 highlander, Honda Pilot and odyssey. We really want to go with the highlander( we have a Honda Civic currently and 2 yr old). Looking for a bigger car that can fit the 3 of us plus extra family/friends for when we are sipping around town,or on a long trip. We love the look and Luxury feel of the highlander, but love the convenience of being able to push the 2nd row captain’s chairs together on Honda Odyssey, and easily get into third row seats. The highlander and pilot just don’t seam practical if you want to put kids in second row seats( can’t tilt seats forward if car seat is being used).Suggestions and, or recommendations appreciated!

      Quite a dilemma! It sounds like you may want to allow function and convenience win out over form and style this time. The Highlander and Pilot are great vehicles for almost any situation but there are just some things that a van can do that an SUV cannot. I have three kids and we still have an Odyssey because we are constantly hauling kids, furniture, kids, groceries, kids, various and sundry smells, kids, dogs, kids, lumber, kids, and kids around. Besides, the new Odyssey is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to tech and safety features. I would recommend looking at the Sienna as well. To me, the Odyssey has always been more focused on functional space while the Sienna has had more of a Luxury feel. I love them both but I tend to favor the Odyssey. I hope this helps and good luck!

      HowToCarGuy , thanks so much for your input Brock! If we plan to keep this car for as long as possible, and possibly have one more kiddo, go on family trips, have grown kiddos get into sports, etc., etc. I feel the van is a better choice as well. I’ve never wanted a mini van, but I think I tend to agree, the van is a better choice. I just wish Honda was as reliable as the Toyota’s. Also I have a friend who has a highlander and two kids but is looking into mini vans now( because I’m assuming she doesn’t have enough room), which opened my eyes to the whole idea of a mini van. As far as the sienna goes, my husband hates it. I like the AWD feature , but the pricey and rough ride from the run flat takes it off the table. Thanks again for your valuable insight!( I subscribed to your channel today!).

      @HowToCarGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah! I totally forgot about the run flats on the AWD Sienna. Also, I wouldn't worry about reliability - both brands are super reliable. Just be sure you follow every recommendation from Honda about service intervals and you should be good to go! Now I have to find a Honda dealer that's willing to let me film an Odyssey! Hey, maybe you can mention my vids to your Honda in Raleigh for me!

    • @dolce616
      @dolce616 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      HowToCarGuy the more I learn about the seat configuration in the highlander, I’d say we’re going Honda. My husband just wasn’t too happy with some things not working right with his civic. For example,his driver side window would come back down after hitting the automatic up button.My brother in law also had major issues with his civic(2006).
      As far as the odyssey goes, does the third row back seat on the drivers side have the latch system? On the pilot, it has the latches on both the outside seats on second row ( bench style), with the funky set up with the middle seat. Then in the third row, the middle seat is too narrow, has latch on the right side, but the left side just has the tether.
      I hope this made sense. I’ll be on the look out for that odyssey review!
      If I lived in Raleigh, I’d definitely mention your name! Too bad I’m in Vermont:)
