    This is what every collaboration song aims to be, in that it brings together the strengths of both bands so well, but also it would still be a great song if performed by either band on their own. Perfect for Dany's vocals and has that raw rock sound of The Warning, but it also has the creative Band-Maid touches that means they could make any tune sound great.
    I'm fairly sure that Kanami was lead-writer on this, because both Dany and Kanami said they want to do another collaboration song in Mexico which The Warning take the lead on. Dany said she's going to make Band-Maid sing in Spanish. If they missed one trick here, it was having one line in Japanese (sung by both bands), so I think that's a great idea.

    • @BakaBreakdown
      @BakaBreakdown  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks as always! Would I agree this is what every collaboration aims to be? I would say it's one potential approach. I have certainly heard many awesome collaborations that went a very different route, but I do agree that this brought together their qualities, if only really the most basic fun qualities over their potential to elevate each other.... and that is no insult of course! :)
      I think the lyrics and chorus probably had a big Warning element, they do feel that way. I didn't really listen to the lyrics and noticed some English, but not sure if it was all in English. To be honest, as I said before, I would have gone for no English lol. All Spanish and Japanese, why not?? :) ! But lyrics aren't what I was here for.
      I am really excited if they do a part 2 to this. A lot like the legendary Ano/Lilas collaboration, there feels like potential to mine the alternative approach.
      I think this was a safe but very satisfying little romp that was more about celebrating the friendship of two bands with a banging single than necessarily anything else, and if it leads to the kinds of positive fan love and new audiences that I think it will... well then in that part at least I do agree this would be the kind of collaboration that many artists would like to get :D

      @@BakaBreakdown I take your point. You know I love experimental music. My favourite EP/albums of the year so far are Ace and Planet of Metal, and my favourite song might be A New Picture (first released in December 2023 but I didn't hear it until 2024). But I wouldn't have wanted this to be an experimental song. I think the collaboration itself was enough of an experiment, and they certainly didn't just go for the lowest common denominator (not that anyone thought they would). If they do another collaboration, then yeah, they could get more experimental with the music. So perhaps I should qualify my comment as every *first* collaboration song.

    Excellent hard rock song, one of the best entries of the year, and among so many collaborations we've seen along 2024 this is the one that seems most natural and honest to me. Both bands bringing the best they have to the whole thing. It's not just a collaboration, it's also an example. I'm very happy for all the girls, they gave their best to the challenge that Kanami always proposes (both vocalists in their highest and most difficult range, more suitable for Kobato than for any other) it's a very good job. And especially proud of Miku, the anchor that holds all this whirlwind in the middle of the stage. Thanks Howard!

      Thank you! 2024 has been the year of the collaboration, and I do feel there is an honest sense of fun to this. As mentioned, I don't think we're taken to any new places so much as given a simple bit of summer rock fun that wants to make the fans of both bands smile 😀

    Loved it on 1st play. - Thought it was more a Band Maid song than a The Warning song. - However, there's a lot in it, and it needed several playthroughs, to get my ears around it properly.... I would love an extended version with a bit more of both bands. - Not something I'd usually say, but please add another minute, ladies! / great collab. I'd love to see them work together again.... Two great bands, and great for slightly differing reasons. - Nice-1

      @@BakaBreakdown I hope that both bands have a lot to take-away from this collab. It’s kinda strange to think that Band Maid are the more senior in terms of years served in the business. Hopefully their experience will rub off, and in the other direction, the fresh eyes of a younger band in The Warning will give Band Maid a new perspective to consider. Interesting to see whether this collab changes anything in the future. More anthemic from Band Maid and more technical from The Warning. As you said they both bring something different to the table. 😎 ❤️🇯🇵x🇲🇽🎶

    Great reaction and breakdown. I think this song is fantastic! To me, it's doesn't sound like Band-Maid and it really doesn't sound like The Warning either. I do love both bands, so I'm good with this song. Do I wish somethings were a bit different. Yes, but that's often true with straight Band-Maid and The Warning songs. At the end of the day it's the product of a collaboration. Oh man... Holy cr@p! Breaking news! Did you hear Band-Maid and The Warning did a collaboration! 🤣🤣🤣 I expected compromise, as the Bands strengths are different. This back and forth of some of the Maidiacs and the TWA is lunacy. Support the bands. If you don't like the song, say so, it's OK, not everyone has to like every song put out by either band, or in this case together. It's OK. But to demean the other band or specific members, that's totally uncalled for and as Maidiacs and TWA, you should be ashamed of yourselves. As fans we are an extension of the bands and this toxic petty nit-picking only has negative effects on how people perceives the Bands. Not you being toxic. I'm sure Band-Maid and The Warning members would be appalled by this nonsense. Especially since they both love each others music, have mutual respect for each and are friends. Phew...OK, got that out of my system.😂😂😂 Sorry, there are a handful of fans from both sides having these squabbles in multiple reaction videos. Anyway... Rock on Band-Maid! Rock on The Warning! And Rock on Howard! This song is 🔥🔥🔥! Is it my favorite Band-Maid song? No. Is it my favorite The Warning song? No. But it is my favorite Band-Maid + The Warning song! 😆 Everyone needs to just chill out, have some fun, not take everything so seriously and enjoy the music for what it is. Peace out! ✌😆🤘

    The instruments are a bit back in the mix for what I’m used to with The Warning. To me it sounds like a Band Maid song without their characteristic prolonged soloing, which isn’t a feature of The Warning songs. I thought the ending is a bit awkward, but overall I like the song and am happy for their collaboration.

    • @BakaBreakdown
      @BakaBreakdown  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting point. Ironically I felt the less overpowering guitars felt more akin to the Warning than to Band-Maid, and one of my favourite Band-Maid features has always been that the solos are relatively concise, so I find this a very interesting perspective!! 😀
      I do agree mostly though that the overall feel of the song seems to be more Band-Maid's style. If I were to take a guess, I would assume that the chorus melody and lyrics had a fair amount of the Warning's influence. The big catchy chorus absolutely seems to be down their street, but yes, a lot about the instrumentation is more Band-Maid.
      Thanks for this interesting view point. I am trying to imagine how this song sounds to both fanbases so this gave me a little bit to think about too :) !

      @@BakaBreakdown My understanding from various interviews is that a lot of the instrumental was worked out prior to TW arriving and the lyrics and vocals were done after. Regardless, I think what a lot of people are missing is that they had two weeks working together to get ready for the live performance. That would preclude adding some of the more complex things that a lot of people were wanting and led to doing something a little simpler while still trying to make the best thing possible. It can’t be easy to coordinate two full bands playing together in such a short time with a language gap between them. That alone makes it very impressive to me.

    The song is everything I thought it would be and more!
    It was boring *and* the mix was terrible.
    People have been complaining about Band-Maid's mixes for a long time but this was several steps down from even that. The vocals (best part of the song, I think; Dany is an incredibly powerful singer) were way too loud. The singers don't feel like they're even "in" the song; it sounds like someone just recorded them singing over background music. It sounds unfinished. I'm actually shocked that the song was released in this state. I've never heard anything like it in a professional recording.
    On the plus side, it's at least one interesting thing in the song.

    • @BakaBreakdown
      @BakaBreakdown  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for commenting! I must say that I don't necessarily disagree with what you're saying on the objective side, but I think that my expectations (after hearing the fancam version) were calibrated towards expecting something a little more straight shooting, and I think that's what they achieved very well here. As for the mix, well, it's in line with how The Warning tend to have their songs. Is it the way I'd have it? Not really, but I do get that it's a result of the collaboration. Doesn't kill the song though as everything is still audible.
      In the end, I think all of these things really lead you to the subjective side of just what sound works for you more. I think this married the Band-Maid sound to the sound of The Warning, (a band who I've not subjectively been a big fan of in the past) in a way that makes sense for both parties. So on that level, I get it.
      On a more simple and raw level though, it's a nice little big of innocent rock and roll fun, and that is the level on which it most works for me. Almost a Maid In Japan level.

I believe Band-Maid when they say they want to be known all over the world. If they think this is the new route to pursue, I think they might do it, despite all of their songwriting to this point. Miku and Kanami wrote this song. It's in their new album. TW was only invited to participate with the singing and instruments. The mix was done by Band Maid's team in Japan and it is known that their mixes have never been good. There have been several complaints from fans since Band Maid's previous works about the mixes' failures. It's not the first time and TW has nothing to do with it because it's not even their song. Clearly you don't know anything about TW that you assume the mix is like TW "tend to have their songs". And since you are such a giant fan of Band Maid how you are not aware that it is a song written, produced and mixed in Japan by Band Maid and their team ????. I think each of the participants in this forced collaboration pursues their own goals, most likely far from creating a high-quality and interesting musical product.
    The technical level of Band-Maid musicians is incomparably higher and the editing director had to work hard on cutting the video to level this fact and somehow even out the situation. I can't say that it was a success, this task turned out to be very difficult.
    From the point of view of style, these two groups seem to me quite different. The Warning is just songs by guitars and drums, without any special claims to musical content. Band-Maid, albeit not to the full extent, but still positioned as a group with musicians playing quite diverse and rich music.
    In terms of popularity, The Warning is probably ahead of Band-Made by a large margin.
    That's why this music video seems like a kind of misalliance to me.

      This is an interesting perspective. There's areas I see your point and some I would maybe disagree.
      Where I agree is that I do think that Band-Maid tend to be more nuance focused, but I think that's because (5 members vs 3 members) and I have long since said this is one of the reasons I listen to Japanese music over western music anyway. The fact the basslines don't follow the guitar, and such, this is what makes Japanese music special to me.
      Where I would disagree is perhaps more the idea that the collaboration was awkward. The video editor seemed to have no issue that I could see, and if anything it felt very natural because of the way the parts where shared out. I also think that the song was never an attempt for either band to flex their skills, just to produce a rocking, accessible song that crowds could sing along too.
      I would love to see them push their song writing skills to get the most out of the 8 member showcase, but I don't think that was the goal here, and I don't get the feeling that anyone involved left disappointed.
      That being said, as a Band-Maid fan, I do get what you're looking for and I know what you mean, but if nothing else, Band-Maid always put musical variation ahead of most other bands, and that is where I would place this one myself.
      Thanks for the interesting thoughts! Love to hear opinions viewpoints!

      @@BakaBreakdown The Warning alone would be enough to create an accessible rock song. That's what they do and that's what they've succeeded in. And complication that Band-Maid introduces makes the song less accessible to the crowd. As a result, fans of both bands did not receive their usual and beloved musical product. A song performed by eight people sounds worse than if only five Band-Maid musicians were playing. In this case, they would have played at full strength.
      I don't care about The Warning, it's not my thing at all. But if Band-Maid's music becomes simpler from such a collaboration, it will be another sad story. I must say, they are already dangerously close to it.

    • @BakaBreakdown
      @BakaBreakdown  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I actually don't entirely disagree there lol. Maybe a little comparison might help
      I am still a great believer that simple songs can occasionally be fun as variety is so important. I think I have been more of a supporter of Magie than most because I felt it was a nice fun deviation. Perhaps a fair comparison would be Show Them, compared to Bestie. For me, Bestie felt like it lacked the Band-Maid nuance, but it didn't feel like it either took them to a new place (they had emotional songs already that were more interesting), neither did it feel like it was the big collaboration it was stated to be, as none of the collaborator's contributions seemed to be anything Band-Maid couldn't do alone. So my final conclusion was it was a nice song, but felt a little underwhelming. With Show Them, it's in an awkward position. I did a video on my main channel discussing how both band's could be repositioned to make an interesting 8 piece out of their members, but the truth is that we were probably always going to just get a straight rock song, and in that sense you are right that it doesn't really have room for all 8. On paper, it is a compromise.
      But the reason why this works so much better than Bestie, is what we get here ackowledges what it is from the outset. They kept it simple, they kept it catchy, and it was clearly just a celebration of two bands who are friends, just blasting out a little song and feeling good together.
      If this was a statement of intent for what Band-Maid want all their music to be moving forwards, yeah, I'd raise an eyebrow. Given though that Band-Maid have always comfortably accommodated variation and oddball tracks in to their sound, I don't feel overly worried.
      If anything, my hope is that this is a sign that Epic Narratives may be very eclectic. Some simple catchy singalong rockers, with the delicate likes of Memorable, and hopefully all the most insanely OTT stuff locked away in the album tracks awaiting the fans who want to dive in to the full length thing.
      My thoughts at least, but we will see! :)

      @@BakaBreakdownReally enjoyed your commentary in the video and here, as usual. I think some people are WAY overthinking all this! It’s a song. That’s it. Like it or don’t. PS I absolutely love “Bestie.” 😊
