Jimmy Bernal and? Zhu countered that: Geller is nothing without his serve. He’s tactically a dumbass, in contrast to Zhu who has a great tennis IQ on court.
That's a fucking change from earlier videos. People used to sing praises of Geller, like how he should be a pro and not in college tennis and so forth.
You don't get to number one in the world in juniors from being a mindless ball crusher. If you watch any of the other videos of Axel playing you'll see even guys who are counterpunchers lose to him because he is in fact pretty smart on court.
I appreciate that the umpire overrules their awful calls. Really enjoy the uploads, but college tennis needs more umpires like this, because the culture of bad calls is just tough to watch sometimes.
I knew from watching earlier matches of Zhu that he was going to be dominant. I believe I saw a match of him younger where Geller beat him pretty handily but it's obvious he has great talent.
@@Tony-qw1df Yeah, the shadow was half past the line in the frame just before the ball hits the ground. Then the frame skips when the ball actually touches the ground. In the following frame the shadow is clearly outside of the line. And judging by the position of other shadows it's more likely the ball was out even before it hit the ground.
Geller completely lost it for this match. Compared to his previous match against Zhu/Smith and others in the PAC, this was very disappointing to watch.
As a European, the lack of fencing between courts in such a nice facility is just mind boggling. People here would never accept these regularly occurring lets just because the club/university couldn’t invest a few hundred dollars in netting. (With the uk being an exception, they often have the same problem)
American tennis is like that. There is an obvious emphasis of forehands at the expense of backhands, and you can see that in American ATP pros right now.
Just wonder if both players are in university as teniss player, or if they major their own, and tennis is just their hobby. Question from someone who does not know USA education system.
They are student-athletes, meaning they choose whatever major they want just like regular students. They have sports scholarships (not D3 school though) to cover all of their school related costs plus a monthly stipend. They have to play for their school in a college league called NCAA.
In College Tennis, you play let serves. I think a lot of college players in the past used to make let calls on aces or the such, so they just play them now. It's quite different from high school play and pro play, but it is what it is.
I didn't notice it before but yeah it was as if he won the biggest match of his college career (probably it was) - but still that move isn't a classy one.. I'm sure the other guy is looking forward to their next match.. LOL
31:03 was beautiful to watch!...
I said the exact same thing👍🏻
Stanford's top two players (Fawcett and Geller) are amazing! Seeing him live against my Cal, he just hits the ball a TON!
Didn't know Zhu could play such a good tennis. Great returns and tactically very smart. Geller was a disappointing. Thanks for the video, Matt!
*bit
Nadal HD I mean Geller did have some amazing serves
Jimmy Bernal and? Zhu countered that: Geller is nothing without his serve. He’s tactically a dumbass, in contrast to Zhu who has a great tennis IQ on court.
Nadal HD zhu is a pretty dang solid 2 singles player.
Boban Mihajlov I'm just saying he's not all that bad, cut the guy some slack you shouldn't talk smack about someone who's trying their best
Geller literally crushes the ball as hard as he can. A good counterpuncher with a high tennis IQ like zhu can deal with this.
Rodion 8 he lost kind of easily against him a month ago, Geller just had a bad day
Peter t.c no, Zhu just found out how to beat him because he’s a mindless ball crusher.
Nice

Zhu backhands and returns are crazy man but not going to lie he called out on a lot of shots that were actually in
The one at 19:30 was just atrocious, they couldn’t even cheer him on after that 😂
14:25 as well
Sometimes the view of the camera may be at a angle where the ball looks like it’s in. I always respect what the person watching closely calls it.
Cheater

Zhu is a really smart player. It's really tough to play against someone like him. Great videos. keep them coming!
I knew from watching earlier matches of Zhu that he was going to be dominant. I believe I saw a match of him younger where Geller beat him pretty handily but it's obvious he has great talent.
Matt, thanks for your fantastic videos. Really enjoy watching them.
Really good back hand from zhu! Impressive!
Zhu has some great angles on his BH to go with his awful line calls.
Finally a college player with an actually GOOD backhand
Go to19:30 mark and slow down the speed, watch the high floater , clearly inside the line, many more examples also
@@neondiamondsaquaberry17 look at the shadow...

i love your videos. better than pros on tv.
high quality match! thanks for sharing.
Much easier to watch without Axels dad watching the match..YES YES YES YES!
Glad I found this channel! Keep the vids going!
@31:50, some people are born with above average intelligence, some others are not.
That guys an absolute fud. Would not happen in scotland he would get the shit kicked out him
@@cd9759 that applies to most americans
I thought it was kinda dope
@@willthurin364 agreed, these guys mad they cant do dope cellys like this kid
Did anyone else listen to some of the conversations in the background?
Gellers serves are insane, i wish i could serve so hard
Soooo many blatantly awful calls... and that a-hole celebration at 31:50... is sportsmanship totally dead?
What a tool
Ag commaan. That's not so bad. Whats wrong with celebrating
@Alexia Is On Fire im guessing you're a girl??
@Alexia Is On Fire ok ok. Then you must really be good at tennis to take on one of these men. Not that im saying that their super good.
@Alexia Is On Fire how on earth do you have 192 subs without any content
The YES YES guy is not here 😪
lol i know what you mean. Although he didnt have many chances to say yes yes for Axel's playing in this video. Axel didn't show up this day.
someone needs to interview that yes yes guy :-)
Paul Kwan he’s a bigger star than the players lol
Jose Andre I was waiting to hear him 😂😂😂
Nice editing, thanks for putting the scores
Pretty sad attendance for a college tennis match between two big schools
it's tennis dude. they're not gonna get football or even baseball sized crowds. typically a sport for undersized kids/dorks
31.50 ... when a ballerina finally wins a tennis match.
Wonder how fast their serves are.
Do they play out lets? I've noticed the serve being a let in 2 videos now and they played out the point both times
Curly Fry they usually play out lets in college matches
someone will hit a killer serve and they'll just call LET and they have to do re do it so yes, they play lets
Does Axel have something wrong with his leg?
No Ad? no net on service??
Blue guy plays so clever.
that backhand is money from zhu, he just needs to keep his focus up, had a bit of a dip in that 2nd set
31:05, what a shot!
Lines are out in NCAA tennis.
That would explain 19:30
The cheating is disgusting
Nice packed crowd to watch the match. Much like UCLA football.
Any relation to Ross Geller?
Skill difference. Zhu aiming balls very good with less power while other dude going ogre mode on every ball.
Does anyone know what racquet Geller is using? It looks like the Ezone 98 (?) lime green version...
geller just hits back to the middle
Geller’s return is not bad, but Zhu’s back hand is ridiculous.
If Zhu improved his returns a bit, Geller would not win a single game
At 8:17 they play a deuce point that appears to end the game. Did they not play an ad point after? Did it just get cut out in the edit or something?
Okay...so deuce points are sudden death? Is that an NCAA thing too?
@@t1vannas yeah that's college, they play sudden death
Didn't realize NCAA matches were played with no ad. Thought it was just a high school thing.
Zhu has hella return...
Yo what's that Circle stencil at the bottom of Zhus strings?
Solinco
Hi Matt. May I use your videos to create free instructional videos on IG and TH-cam?
2MinuteTennis yeah sure!
Hey thanks so much. I’ll always give you credit and supply the link. Thanks again.
Geller completely lost it for this match. Compared to his previous match against Zhu/Smith and others in the PAC, this was very disappointing to watch.
I love gellers backhand outta defense
Axel is the one with "YES YES AXEL" Father
Zhu is less powerful but has better control
what's the ntrp of these guys?
They're either 5.5-6.5 since 7.0 is world class player
31:05
9:40 out?
Was exciting!!

(With the uk being an exception, they often have the same problem)
Agreed
Axel used to be very good in the juniors. Now, he can't even run.
He would have never lost this match before starting college
a wonderful game
Stanford will have a tough go if he can’t get a high first serve percentage cause he got a bum return and backhand.
American tennis is like that. There is an obvious emphasis of forehands at the expense of backhands, and you can see that in American ATP pros right now.
darwinianpickles looking at you Jack Sock lol
darwinianpickles not even just him tho. Lots of American players
Well I think that's what I said...
Steve Johnson literally only slice
zhu is a very complete player
Very good backhand from Zhu (y)
any college player with a one hand bh?
piddy Soedengaard, he plays for Texas. (Sorry if I misspelled his name)

31:50 why was that so bad😂😂
Do you have UCLA v UCI match?
Couldn't make it to that one unfortunately :(
why do all of the college tennis videos i see involve blatant cheating on line-calls
Geller just hits the ball as hard as he can down the middle of the court, Zhu gives him some angle and hes already weakened.
Is Zhu Chinese?
Is this 6.0? Or 7.0?
Nick Uplands Its college tennis bro...
Geller called a lot of shots out that were actually in.
19:40 the ball was definitely in
IWasMilk-Minecraft 19:37*
None of them able to make a living at the ATP tour not like used to be both college players were top 50 in the world.
Why did they need an umpire if they were making all the calls themselves?
No ad scoring is the worst
19:36 OUT ?? HAHAHHAHAHAAHAHA IN 100%
Tiago Sousa it was out, camera angles are tricky, I’ve made the same mistake watching other videos
@TheShnag I try your method, it is OUT :-)

That celebration was definitely excessive. Dude needs to work on controlling that cockiness before he gets whipped in a professional tennis match.
I was giving that same look at my phone. What a massive tool. Low level hs tennis move.

Who is that ass in UCLA blue? Please take it off and return it to the school.
Dude was ugly AF
Zhu remains me of Mackie Mcdonald
Bangaa sa naka red uyy ramag liki
These terrible calls oh my god... 14:05 was definitely out.
not definitely, this camera angle is notoriously misleading. also going frame by frame clears it up a bit
Point at 10min should’ve just given Zhu advantage right?... not the game point >.
College scores differently
Stanford got their asses kicked
60 fps pls!!!!
I uploaded this video in 4K but I noticed TH-cam is no longer putting up my videos in resolutions that are higher than 1080.
19:36 , that was definitely in. not out
Zhu got a nadal like forehand
please stop moving the camera so much
31:48 well that was unsportsman-like…
The guy in red keeps having to adjust himself. Maybe he should wear a jock.

27:24 ball called out was clearly in....
Clearly to who? You may need some glasses.
Way out lol

Zhu's pretty good, but his forehand take-back reminds me of a mushy eggplant
15:49 who the fuck is that and what the fuck is he saying
8:24 completely unnecessary. His socks are extremely annoying and stupid looking as well
