    In the early 1980's I lived in East Kilbride, Scotland. At the time the Somerville family lived a short walk from my parents house. I remember playing with Paul. I also have memories of his sister Lynsey and his parents. Our families moved on: Paul's to Lockerbie and mine to Canada. When you're seven years old and playing in your friend's driveway you'd never imagine such a terrible, terrible thing happening to him and his family some seven years later. I remember you Paul - rest in peace.

    After the recent crash of Continental flight 3407 into a house, I immediately thought of this plane crash and the debris that had rained down on Lockerbie and killed so many on the ground as well as in the air. So terribly tragic.

    Not sure it was the Libyans actually. More than likely it was Iran assisted by Syria in revenge for the shooting down of the Iran Air airbus just five months earlier. Then the politics in the Gulf changed, Iraq invaded Kuwait and the West needed Iran on side, so the culprits for Lockerbie suddenly became the Libyans. That's politics. As Gadaffi's son Saif once remarked; "It's all a game you see."

      Not having a soul (Since there is zero evidence such things exist and we have no good reason to believe in things without evidence, like believing a random person won't steal from you if you hand them a wad of cash) is actually more meaningful if you think of it. It means we have this one precious life, not some vague eternal life after, and we should cherish it and make this world a place everyone can live safely in for as long as possible.

    27 days in jail for each victim - but in the event he didn't even serve that. He was given "release on compassionate" grounds due to terminal illness, which is normally only given when a prisoner is expected to die within a few days, or a few weeks, or at the very most a few short months. But this man survived for nearly 3 years after he was let out on these grounds, and at one stage there were reports that he might still have a chance of survival!

    you're right, i just heard that number on the radio and was stunned. 8 fucking years! the judge should be drawn and quartered and set afire. it's such a hurtful thing to do to all those families who have suffered enough. scotland had its own victims in this and should be livid as well.

    Make no mistake this is all about oil. Blood for oil is the trade of today's world. Abdel Basset al-Megrahi is not completely innocent that's total B.S. However he was definitely not alone. I know people that lived in Lockerbie and the horror of the aftermath is something that they just don't talk about. Some of the stories are just heartbreaking and straight out of a horror movie. This scumbag went home to a hero's welcome. P.S. MOST OF THE FAMILIES OF THE VICTIMS DO NOT BELEIVE HE IS INNOCENT.

    We should remember and pray for all the families of innocent people destroyed by war, conflict and aggression. Even watching the video makes me tremble and I dont know anybody who lives in Lockerbie. People need to find another way of getting heard other than to kill, maime, injure and destroy. Peace for 2010; no more bullets and bombs please.

  • @Madayar
    @Madayar 16 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just to add something to the video that is not some hateful discussion of radicals on both sides but a tad constructive: The video is not quite correct. It calms the viewer that there were no survivors, but several expert analysis state that up to 150 people were alive and conscious while falling, and that several people might have survived the flight due to falling into trees, but freezed to death because they were found too late.
    What senseless massacre.

    20 yrs = less than a mos./victim(270).
    this fucker gets released because he is terminally ill, and gets to spend his last days in relative comfort and with family by his side.
    that's compassion? that's pure cruelty for those families he destroyed.

    Compassion as with respect needs to be earned by your actions, or in this case, inaction's, ie not murdering 270 human beings. If ever Life in Prison should mean exactly that, LIFE, it is for the deliberate, preplanned cold blooded execution of hundreds of innocent people.
    It is bad enough that murdering 270 people today only gets you 27 years, but to be released after only 8 years (less than 2 weeks per victim) for ANY reason, is like taking a big giant shit on the memories of the victims.

Also, if the Scottish folks know the truth now, then why the hell did they allow what you say is "an innocent man" to be placed in a Scottish prison, in the first place? With all the sophisticated radar technology the US has ur telling me that its feasable that a CIVILIAN airliner was lmao mistaken for a F-16 fighter jet whilst it was travelling in IRANIAN air space?

    I'm sure Scotland is a great place to live. It was still an awful decision to let the guy go. What does living is Scotland have to do with the terrorist's release? BTW, I live in a great place here in the US. No one is carrying guns where I live.

    • @inkyguy
      @inkyguy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know where you live, but the U.S. has more private firearms per every man, woman and child than any nation on Earth. It also has the annual homicide and suicide by firearm rate to prove it. No fewer then 30,000 Americans are killed by year by firearms. Firearms are involved in over 75% of violent crime in the U.S., compared to EU, Commonwealth countries and Japan in which the rate of violent crime is much lower and gun crime, in particular, is very rare.

      Sometimes bodies will not have expelled air that is trapped in the lungs, so there will be a final exhalation sometime after death, such as when the body is moved. It is unusual because upon death all of the body’s muscles relax, but it can happen.

    @anneeq008 These actions represent the planning of an elite few in the US. The majority of the US is generally oblivious to this sort of shit because we're too busy with our own lives and with caring about the latest celebrity scandal or who's winning American Idol. Personally, if it was up to me, my foreign policy would be this...we won't bother you if you don't bother us, if you need aid with recovery from a catastrophic disaster, just ask and we'll send help.

    The Scots are a lovely people, but this whole Lockerbie affair was a major cockup, from the early forensics and investigation, to trial, sentence and finally early release of Megrahi. Libya's former justice minister has stated that Gaddafi did in fact give the order to Megrahi to bomb Pan Am 103
    If it is ever proven that Megrahi.was actually innocent, Scotland has the unsolved murder of 270 innocents back on their hands, hopefully the culprits will serve more than 2 weeks per victim in prison

    my cousin, Mathew Gannon, a CIA rep, along with his superior, where on this plane, carry a large amount of Cash, in payment of some sort of exchange with a middle east faction. i haven't looked into this in a long time, and need to, so am still not up to speed and informed on exactly "What happened", but it's a fact: they were the reason the bomb as placed. to stop them from paying "someone" for "something". (i'm embarrased at my ignorance of this story, as he was my Cousing, but..it's true)

    • @inkyguy
      @inkyguy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since Pan Am was the contracted airline for all U.S. government employees, any CIA employees flying from London to New York that evening would have been on a Pan Am flight. Since this was public knowledge this would have made it an attractive target for any terrorist. Neither your cousin’s mere presence or his ostensible mission have any necessary relationship to the motive for the bombing. You - or someone - must provide more than either your own word or hearsay to make such a claim credible.
