Penguin's stuff almost always requires a caped hero of come kind to uncover. He really is just a smarter criminal leader (that being his ENTIRE schtick after all). That's actually my biggest complaint about the end of Daredevil, aside from how easily the FBI agents all got blackmailed in a world with superheroes in it: the Kingpin's defeat should've been utterly humiliating. He should've been left not taunting Daredevil into killing him, but *begging* him to do it, with Daredevil walking away because his broken foe is so pathetic. Now you've got Daredevil turning to the dark side and a solid excuse for Kingpin to try the super soldier drug for the MCU reboot. This also explains why Daredevil is so smiley now - he's actually hiding the pain. But, no, they marveled it up.

Spider-man accidentally kills Wolverine's girl. This event REALLY traumatized Peter(He essentially crushed her skull). So I think because of this comic, whenever Peter is fighting people without superpowers, he subconsciously holds back more than he should.
