Me neither.....I'm moving down the checklist one check at a time. Currently working on the tailgate and then on to prepping the interior for bed-liner spray.

I ordered the ididit collapsible 30" plain steel column today via Summit instead of the stainless steel one. Expected ship date of May 31. I changed my mind on the column for two reasons; I wanted to save some money and I wanted a collapsible column. If I'm ever in a collision, I want to make sure I did everything I could to make it through it in one piece. I also purchased a 2" firewall passthrough to replace the 2.25" swivel one. I'm guessing the plate has enough material to cover up the 2-7/8" hole I drilled.

Thanks! The videos are a good way to motivate me to finish this thing. The column is back ordered so I’ll need to work on the tailgate in the meantime.

I had to chuckle watching the measuring process! On my wagon I think I did about twice the measurements/mockups that you did to be sure I got it right. Even then I wasn't positive, but ordered a 33" column and it worked out just fine.

Randy, I'm pretty sure I make "how NOT to" videos and not "how to" videos. I've finally gotten the steering column in and my antics and mistakes will be published in Episode 7. It's comments like yours that make me want to get this project completed and feel humbled against other people's successes.. Thanks for the comment. Is your wagon on its original frame?

      Yes, my frame is original.

I may have missed something in an earlier video, but what happened to the original hole in the firewall, and why couldn't you use the original steering column and wheel for mockup/measuring?

    • @ProjectFaceOff

I could have used the original steering column but I had safety concerns around it. The one I replaced it with collapses during a collision and would connect directly with the Chevy LS wiring package. Additionally, with the larger engine and Jeep frame and steering linkage, I was going to have to move the steering column hole 1-3" towards the driver's side to make ti all work.
If I remember correctly, I was able to sell the original steering wheel and column for around $200 or so which made justifying the purchase of IDIDIT steering column a little more palatable. Thanks for the question.

@@ProjectFaceOff I was actually only asking what happened to the original firewall hole, and why you couldn't use the original column for mock up. I fully understand going with Ididit.
