    Hi Everyone and Welcome Back To My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing tutorial.
    Hello! This sew-along video is a vintage styled sundress that has an iconic 1970's look. I did ultimately choose to line the dress because of the sheerness of the fabric, but will take you step by step through the process if you want to line yours also. I also show you how to make your own matching stay tape using your own fabric and a neat little trick for gathering the sleeves. I hope you enjoy this and thank you for watching :)
    ~Marie

    You do the best sewing tutorials on the internet! I think this looks more like a bridesmaid’s dress than a sundress, but it is lovely nonetheless.

    Looks good. I like the sheer fabric for the sleeves. And I really enjoyed and appreciated watching you add a lining. It seems a little difficult for me to find fabrics that are opaque enough to use for clothing that would be comfortable to wear. Your instructions on adding that lining will encourage me.

    It came out really nice. As you say, it has a much earlier period look. Very becoming. A lot of extra work to add the lining but well worth it.

    Your dress is beautiful and looks great on you. It brought back memories of the 70's. I was newly married. My cousin and I went to see the movie The Stepford Wife's. And fell in love with the dresses they were wearing at the supermarket. We went home and each of us made one of those dresses. LOL The dresses were very similar to the one you made, ours were ankle length.

      Hi Gina. I would consider myself to be largely "self taught" in that there was not one particular place or method I studied... I have sewn personally and at times professionally for most of my life and truly love the process :)

    You so fancy!! ;) A beautiful finished garment and worth all the extra effort. Your stretch lace is a year older than me!!! That hemming contraption is great. I've seen them before, but had no idea what you'd do with them. Mystery solved! Whats the name of the super lightweight interfacing you used? I bought some recently thinking it was sheer, but it seems to be much heavier than I wanted. Thank you Marie for your awesome videos!

    • @mybucoliclife
      @mybucoliclife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Faith! The label at the end of the bolt says Pellon P44F JAS Fusible Interfacing 20'' White. At Joann Fabrics it is usually a $1.98 per yard regular price. I wait till I can use a coupon and then I get a whole bunch. By the way that sounds like an old person phrase "I've got stretch lace older than you!!" 😂😁

      Hi Mary! The tape that I think you are thinking of is sewkeyse woven stay tape. The one in the blue packaging. I see it on amazon for about $11.00 I am actually in the process of trying to find a less expensive alternative but no luck so far.
