    My Great Great Grandpa was interned on the Isle of Man. I wrote my dissertation in honour of him and this often forgotten part of history.

      Was he there more than a year or two? The men I interviewed who'd been interned there all were released when they went to serve in the army

    Frequently, when a building is slated to be demolished, vandals will take the opportunity to ransack and steal from the 'abandoned' property. To be fair, the condition of that trashed room is certainly not due to it having been part of a Chinese restaurant. 🤔

    The Daily Mail, on the wrong side of history and waging war against the most vulnerable in society since 1896.

    I hope his mother got answers to her question if Arno was her father. Her son looks like Arno. DNA testing could bring answers.

      Arno is dead, and his body has been lost to the Nazis. Who do they test?

    I gather they've never heard of DNA.

      DNA testing, if he really wants to know if Arno was his grandfather

      @@sandypenske9797 there's no one to test

      Who do they test against? He would have been put in a mass grave or burned by the Nazis

      I guess you've never heard of DNA either, or how it is done. First rule of DNA testing is having a sample of DNA to test. Arno was last seen by Baddiel's family in Konigsberg in March 1939. I doubt he had the presence of mind to give them a blood sample before disappearing.

    Certain terms words he mentioned regarding the persecution of his relatives in Germany.. He could be talking about the persecution of the Palestinians today and since 1947.

      No he couldn't, but it's interesting you resort to such a trope.

      People have been persecuted throughout time Toirdelbach. All races, ethnicities, regions; at one time or another, have endured it. Time has a long arm and all have had to face that. Taking what one person says about his own people's experiences and applying it to another, yes..it's similar, but in this moment you are diminishing his family's, his people's, heartache and personal sorrow. Show a little class.

      Okay. How's that relevant?

    • @katharina...
      @katharina... 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheMijman One could argue it's quite relevant, considering that one of David's relatives was an Anti-Zionist, so the issue raised by the original poster would have been very close to his heart.
