In my paternal great-grandparents wedding photo, my great-grandmother is seated & my great-grandfather is standing... but it is not because he was being a gentleman. It was because she was over 6ft tall and he was only 5'5" and they didn't want her towering over him in the photo.
I thought also that often the woman was standing so as to see a full visual of her long flowing dress, as opposed to having it all wrinkled up in a seated position.
It doesn't make much sense, him doing wdytya and then saying he's not really interested in his ancestry. I think he's just over-concerned with appearing tough and cynical. But if I remember rightly, later on he does get tearful about the poverty and stigma that some of his female ancestors had to endure, which shows me that he's not such an eejit after all.
so interesting, my Grandmother whose maiden name was Violet Grace McKay was taken in and helped by the Salvation Army in the USA when her husband died. My mother was only 2 months old. I grew up going to the Salvation Army church with my mother and Grandmother.
I never felt superior to my great grands who came from Glasgow or anywhere else. They are far greater than me as far as having to overcome obstacles and have great character no doubt
Didn't seem rattled by anything except all the early deaths. He came across very sympathetic to me. Like a sensitive who grew a hard belligerent shell to protect himself. We all have poor ancestors, only a moron would see shame in that. Poverty sadly was and is terribly normal.
If he's not interested in his ancestry, why should I be? This show is all about seeing the reaction of the subject. Never heard of the guy, but he reminds me, not in a good way, of Philip in The Crown. His little nasty comment on geriatrics - dude how young do you think you are?
This was aired around 10 years ago. Paxman has mellowed a bit since stepping down from Newsnignt but is still his formidable self on podcast. I guess people from the U.K. are more familiar with his journalistic work and it’s good to see him on telly again particularly in these days.
@@5dkauhanespiritualarts775 I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. lol At first he reminded me of Richard Gere, but Gere is certainly stunning and a much more affable character. Yes arrogance came through big time. Not a good look.
He seems to like to try to humiliate the shows staff. Who do you think you are is a good question for him and not about his ancestors. More about his arrogance.

I'm in Australia and I like the UK version.
His mother's doorbell sounds like Smoke on the water

He definitely has that sense of entitlement that lots of private school educated people have. He sounds like Prince Phillip

Wet my pants!!!! Lol!!!! Ask me a sensible question!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Must be hard for Jeremy to find out that he comes from the slums of Glasgow Prat

The prat is surely you, it certainly wasn't Jeremy.
I want to go fishing with Paxo! I miss you. Come to nyc
How have people liked this already when it hasn't premiered? I'm not saying you won't like it, but how do you know?

He made a career out of being arrogant, but then it got results from even more irritating politicians. And he loves his Mum ...
handsome? on which planet? not here on Earth
I don’t know this guy. Who is he?
Very famous British TV presenter/journalist known mostly for hosting the political news show "Newsnight". Think he's retired now.
He seems to like to try to humiliate the shows staff. Who do you think you are is a good question for him and not about his ancestors. More about his arrogance.
He behaves very rude and snobbish.

Why didn't he take a DNA test? as this would help with this search
Who rings the bell of their parents house ?? Surely you’d have a key 🤷🏻♂️
Is he always this arrogant?
Part of his schtick, I think.
He's so arrogant! At this point, I stopped watching.
