  • I've used this and my SAR Kit bag for the last couple of years to carry quick needed items and to carry when I'm out in the woods. What system do you use to carry items you use often?

    I have been using a original full size kit bag. I keep, lighters, ferro rod, compass and tinder in the front pocket. The middle I have a attached my esee 4 on the laser cuts horizontal. headlamp, charger and cord, and gloves are in the provided pockets and on top. The back pocket I leave empty for other items (first aid if in a larger group or seasonal things like a onion bag to pick morels etc.) or if I want to carry concealed on the trail.

      Yeah, I really enjoy the versatility this kit bag offers. I mainly use this one for courses since it's less cumbersome than my SAR Kit Bag.

    I found I could attach my tan Gerber strongarm directly underneath and it's almost concealed and accessible. It's the perfect width/length. it's a comfortable rig. HPG kit is good stuff. Nice review brother!

    I've got the Heavy Recon chest rig, the front pouch is bigger and it has more MOLLE on the front. I use it for both backpacking and hunting and keep basically the same stuff in there, I need to get a holster that sticks to the panel in the back though.

      You really don’t need a holster. Just don’t put anything else in that same compartment

      @@Alienshark I know I don't NEED one, for the last year or two I haven't used one, but I want to get one so that my pistol is in the exact location I want it should I actually need to draw it ever.

    G'day Paul, personally I've never been a fan of chest rigs, a compass is the only thing I want in that position, however they certainly do make a lotta sense for quick/easy access and weight distribution when your pack is on at least.
    For me it's easy enough to cater for a map, knife, perhaps a folding saw, some cordage, ferro rod, phone and the like in pockets and/or on your belt. Btw I do use a big blade like a BK-9 or machete, with a 4 ish in. knife, together with a DC3 stone attached to it. Cheers Duke.

    Hey Paul, I like this rig. I had a large mountaineering pack with a bonnet that doubled as a fanny pack/ shoulder bag. It was roomy and you could pack it with a lot of gear, but the weight distribution made it uncomfortable. Thanks for sharing the features and how it's been working for you.

    Good kit Paul
    I've been using a HPG Heavy Recon Kit Bag for several years for my survival and minimalist bushcraft kit.
    Adding a CamelBak Mil-Spec Antidote hydration bladder completes the system.

    I was into it until no firearm as this is my main reason for looking into this pack. None the less, good review and sharing what you carry and why. If I had to make a decision to buy this based off of your review, I'd buy it.

    I have the original V2 kit bag, which I like a lot, but my favorite kit bag setup is the recon snubby, with the HPG binocular case. The snobby pocket is set up with compass, note pad, pen, cordage, small flashlight, etc. Then my binoc’s for glassing.

    I really like that chest rig, that is the perfect size for me, great for a scout walk in the bush, I like to go lite as possible these days. The rig in addition to what I carry in my pockets and on my belt would work out good. Thanks Paul, good video.

    Hello Paul, Why do you own and use both the Recon and SAR versions of the kit bag? They seem so similar that I would imagine one could cover most applications. Thanks!

    • @adaptablesurvival
      @adaptablesurvival  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The SAR is bigger then the Recon. So I have a smaller one for more low profile applications and a larger one, depending on what I want/need to carry.
