As a history teacher, I am so tired of that BS inaccurate comparison. Malcolm X was no damn "villian" . He was opposed to nonviolence in the face of white supremacy violence. King was not passive. His tactics were confrontational against segregation and effective for changing laws leading to affirmative action, voting rights and civil rights.

Kelsey grammer was visually the best beast. Dudes jack ripped but he's got his reading glasses on.
I never sort of liked that Storm was played by Berry and the other actress. I always thought that character had more presence than what they bring. Also, they keep using a lighter skin tone than the cartoon/comics. I'd like it if they can find an actress like Angela Basset, or even kinda like Grace Jones.
The character controls the weather, like Mother Nature Personified... So make her have more fierceness.

I love xmen, but you're right the movie wasn't terrible (like i was prepared for) but also wasn't amazing. I would give it 3 saxophones as well

X-Men is too my fav comic book & Magneto is my fav comic book character.....That being said XMen movies been trash for awhile now, they coulda stopped after 1st class, my personal favorite. I view Logan as it's own thing....But there is noway in hell that Marvel makes a XMen movie without Wolverine....I'll be cool if they go the 90s cartoon route with the line up, & give my man Gambit some love

That said, I watched Godzilla II last night, and you ruined it for me. All the things you touched on in your review made me laugh at the wrong times when watching the movie. When Mark(?) stepped out and started screaming for his daughter, I burst into hysterical laughter. I even started going "Kanan!!"

You had me at the Shi'ar Empire pulls up and Jean said "Huh? I ate some cereal this morning..."
From what I saw, they were all phoning it in. But I don't see that as the fault of the actors, but the director, who also wrote this. It was like the director forgot what made these characters great and compelling. He threw all of that out and made these characters completely unrecognizable.
The story was also bad. Things happen for no reason. We are introduced to Chastain and all of a sudden she is a villain. They have no clear motivation as to what they want to do. The same with the military showing up randomly at the place were Magneto was. It didn't make any sense.
Action scenes were good, but it didn't save the movie for me. Because what made X-Men great were the characters.
No Saxophones. This movie is that bad.
Jennifer Lawrence isnt playing Mystique. Shes playing Jennifer Lawrence: Jennifer Lawrence and the X-men

Love this review, the movie was just ok to me. I did like the action scenes but I don’t feel like they know how to tell this story well. I feel like the killed Raven off because Jennifer Lawrence was soooo over it. You could definitely tell in that performance. I would like them to keep this Magneto when they go to Marvel, he’s my fav.
I'm glad that he knows about the storylines that the comic book movies are based on.

They really screwed up Mystique’s character, she was supposed to be more like Magneto and maybe even harsher than him. I have said I think it was because everyone is so used to Jennifer Lawrence being the heroine, they altered her character.

This review is amazing. Your attention to comic book detail is uncanny. I thought I was the only one that felt that they made quick silver too fast. It’s visually appealing, but doesn’t make a ton of sense in the heat of battle. You’re great.

Great review Mr. Baker. I didn't see Dark Phoenix. I got fed up with Fox's treatment of the X-Men franchise after Days of Future Past. I look forward to seeing what the MCU will do with the X-Men (and the Fantastic Four).
