Beightburn was an invasion like Goku was supposed to be. Humans were to raise him and then the alarm clock in the ship goes off and he will do what ever he needs to or wants to do to Earth and take it over. That was the idea- I think.
That's what the dialog in his classroom was about as far as his mission or purpose. He inadvertently or subconsciously explains this when referring to "wasps and bee's" and the difference between the two.
This is why Ben Affleck's Rant in the Batcave was so on point , as far as the why , I think the ship was giving him seizures was also programming his bran , remember the notebook and the drawings , the ship is everything , even his weakness is the metal from the ship ,. I give the movie 4 out of 5 (because of BvS and the logic of Affleck's Batman ) all I was thinking of when I watched this film #BRINGBENBACK
It's so interesting, because honestly the Superman origin story is just really a flip of the coin. Regardless of how both were raised, it really could've gone either way: Just as Clark decided to embrace his 'humanity'... Brandon decided to embrace his alien heritage. You could flip that coin a million times in a million different universes and keep getting one or the other. Great channel btw. Just discovered it and subscribed!!
My Family and I saw this Film opening weekend, and we all really enjoyed it! The pacing was really good; the running time was about an hour and a half, but it felt like two hours. This wasn't a flaw, because there were no scenes where it appeared to slacken. My impression was that once Brandon turned twelve, that was the puberty stage for his species. Coupled with the communication coming from the spacecraft Brandon landed on Earth in, I simply concluded that these circumstances triggered the homicidal switch in the Boy. Consequently, I did not find any additional exposition necessary. Thank you for your great review, Tony! I really enjoy your content, it is clever, intelligent and unique!
I'm glad you get the importance of batman. People on the outside always get stuck on the most powers thing but he is easily one of the most dangerous ones of them overall even without it. There is a reason he is the leader

The scientific explanation for why was touched upon doing his science class when the teacher asked, what are the difference between wasp and bees. I read a story about a family who thought they bought a dog. This dog had a huge appetite, one day this dog stood on its hind legs, it was a bear! A cub raised domestically still grows to become a bear and will behave like a bear. This kid grew up in a loving environment but it had to be what it was, an alien sent to earth to take it. Great movie.
Well the reason I believe he's like that is because during the movie he kept chanting something.they finally let us in on it. It was "Take over the world" so it was in him the whole time. Which is being bad. Just my take

There's clues all through it. The bee's and the wasp....the "I'm superior" statement..... and the message that they figured out that meant "take over the world". He's clearly from the classic race of aliens that invade and take over planets, and his "switches" and "triggers" are more like natural instinct.

As for the film, just watched it and I enjoyed seeing a "superman" style film in which the "kid" goes ape shit and just does what it wants. They uses "inferior" species to raise their young and then take over their hives. 2) He was highly intelligent. He noted once that he was superior to us. Once that was realized, he saw killing us just like killing cattle or... chickens. 3). The Breyers were not the Kents. They did not raise him with high amounts of love and morality. The Kent always told him to help others, use his powers for good, etc. The Breyers, weren't shown to do that. They showed fear and communicated misunderstanding. That's what I took from it anyway,.
Tony, what about the evil Wonder Woman in the credits scene? The witch who strangles people with her rope? I'll never look at her the same way again either.

That's why I respect Batman and why I understand Lex Luthor. Also, the movie hinted why the kid goes bad. It was during all that invasive species stuff in his class. The invasive species takes over...and He is the invasive species.
I liked the movie. That super-kid is extremely brutal. Seems like he was pre-programmed and sent to Earth to conquer it, similar to Goku before he had that head injury as a child that made him want to help and protect the Earth and its inhabitants. I think some people do not like the movie because it has a murderer that is truly unstoppable, and that may cause some people to feel despair and to resent the film. But, in many ways, Brightburn - unfortunately - may be more realistic regarding someone having that much power. The kid viewed Earthlings as being far inferior and below himself, so he had no problem killing anything at any time. To him, humans are basically nothing. Total opposite of Superman's perspective. So, to me, the Brightburn concept is truly frightening.
