Love your channel. Can we get an update? In April of 2020 and August of 2020 you stated two different things about taking magnesium during a fast. I am doing a 30 day fast and would like to support my body as best as I can. I have added sea salt and pink Himalayan salt to my daily water and want to know if I can add magnesium and potassium to help my body without breaking the effects of the fast. Thank you so much. I really do love your channel

I'm a 59 year old male that's 5'6"tall and weighed 185 with not an ounce of fat on my arms, legs, butt, chin and you cannot pinch an inch on my waist however, I look like I swallowed a watermelon. I am so embarrassed at how I look. I'm already short, bald and ugly. The last thing I need is to add fat to that list. I don't know anything medically but asked my PCP about it because I was scared I had a huge tumor. He informed me it was the worst kind of fat, visceral fat. Went over my diet and found the problem. Did an inventory and was consuming 350-400 grams sugar daily from 7-8 cups of coffee with 2 sugar cubes, 20 oz Gatorade and 2 Liters (yes I said Liters) of Dr. Pepper per day. Saw some girl on a Ted Talk and decided to do something and see if it helps. I have severe breathing problems and use an inhaler, I'm on a triglyceride medication and 2 different BP medications to keep my bottom number around 85. Started on August 4 and cut 100% of my sugar drinks out, no snacking and went on an 18:6 fast schedule. I have lost 27 pounds, all visceral fat. My breathing is so much better, I've dropped my triglyceride medication and without taking any BP meds my bottom number is now in the upper 60's. My energy went through the roof. What amazes me is how easy it was. I still eat big lunches and big dinners and do not count calories or carbs. Moral of my story- Sugar is poison and it was killing me and I didn't even know it. 8 more pounds and I'll hit my target of 150 (my high school weight).

@@TheRealEric__1 Sorry for the misleading post and you are correct. I indeed have lost some muscle mass and other fat I'm sure. I have just started to work out to try to maintain muscle mass. I understand the big story here is weight loss but it's really not for me. The big story is I can breath without gasping, my energy went through the roof and it acts upon itself meaning I feel so good I'm doing more activities in which doing more activities allows me to lose more weight and have more energy. Another is NO PRESCRIPTION MEDS ANYMORE and I have the bloodwork and daily BP readings to back it up. Also too, 4 Pepcid AC's per day has gone to 0 in 2 months as an OTC med. Truly life changing for me and a 100% guarantee I will not go back to what I used to be.

After my heart attack several years ago, the cardiologists wanted me to reduce protein intake to reduce cholesterol. At 6-7 oz per day I was having a number of the issues listed here. Then my regular doctor did a fasting blood sugar test and found I was pre diabetic. Did some research and realized, I'd been eating too many simple carbs and too much sugar over the years. The diet they had me on with all the fruit and grains was not helping.
Then I saw Dr. Sean O'Mara's presentations on visceral fat, and read several studies showing insulin resistance is as much, if not more of a cause of hardening arteries than cholesterol. My subQ fat was pretty low, yet I had the bulging belly. Shifting back to more good proteins, much less simple carbs, and eliminating sugar had an amazing result. My subQ fat that was already low stayed the same yet, I lost 3 inches in my waist. All visceral fat. No. I don't do a carnivore diet, but I do eat more protein, mostly slow digesting complex carbs, and now use nuts for my snacks when I want something, not carbs. My blood sugar has stabilized. No more blood sugar drops.
The increase in protein also eliminated or at least reduced some of the issues known from a low protein diet like they had me on. Am in the process of learning what the best balance for my body is. Now that my stomach muscles are not stretched, I have a visible (but not highly defined) six pack at 65.

Hi Thomas, I'm in the military, where we eat MRE's (or IMP's in Canada) when on exercises. I'm wondering if you could do any sort of a video which could cover basic nutrients that could be supplemented from pills/capsules that could easily be carried on the person, and which would be essential to performance? From what I can tell the MRE's are pretty much just sugar on top of sugar, so I would like to avoid them as much as possible, and potentially be in a fasted state if I can maintain my energy. Any ideas?
Animal Pak seems like a potential option for supplementing micronutrients, and then I'm looking at combining that with a keto protein bar and maybe some krill oil.

    • @rosewaters9991

One article said at the belly button, but I find this a bit sketchy for hourglass figured women since most of us start to curve dramatically at the belly button. I have the same issue as you. My natural waist is in a healthy range, but as soon as I measure the belly button region Im at 35 inches. Note I eat very healthy, limit my sugar and alcohol intake and exercise 5-7 days per week. Currently operating at a bit higher of a weight from poor choices a year and half ago, but Ive been back on track for almost a full year now. Blood tests indicate Im very healthy too. Even though the study was done on a very large sample size, I just dont think it was able to account for all the variables like body composition. I just dont see how the belly button measurement can be used to indicate visceral fat for women with large hips/thighs in the same way that it can for our more rectangular gals. A 35 inch (belly button) measurement wont look the same on an hourglass figure and a rectangular figure.

And these scans and Bello2 may be motivational- but a tape measurement tells me what I need to know with an A1C when I reach the 35" goal.. Yes I know there are other factors- and don't expect you to comment on the DM issue-

I am one of those with the fat fairly well distributed on my body and by abdominal fat is bisected so I have a much smaller waist area under it. hi thomas, interresting video, interesting device (bello). what do the fat level numbers mean. statements like "less than 10 is ok..." you can find on the internet. but, is there a relation to concrete physical quantities like area, volume or mass? lets say a VIS-FL of 5 equals 100cm² VFA?

You mention lycopene found in tomatoes as being good for you, however in your older videos you didn't make it a point to add tomatoes to the preferred fruit list. Granted, the videos I mention were pre-study, so do we add tomatoes to our list of fruits to eat with blue berries and strawberries?

I bought a Bello device while transitioning from a low fat moderate carb diet to a keto diet. My visceral fat/ sub Q/ “belly fat”started increasing everyday. Its been 8 months on keto & my measurements on bello are frighteningly higher than initial baseline! Is this normal? Should I stop keto immediately & transition back? Please help. Thank you 🙏

Ok so when measuring our bellies, do we stand up straight and try to suck it in....or do we let our stomachs completely relax?

Could you use images or clips of actual people as templates you're describing? Please and thanks. Would be easier to see examples to compare one's self with

I’ve been training for 5/6 months
Moderate to high intensity resistance training
From benching 60 kg now benching 100kg i do uphill walk with 20kg
My resting heart rate is 57
But I have a belly that I can’t get rid of and it’s hard not jiggly
I’m guessing I have visceral fat all around

I've heard 2 weeks of a low carb diet can reduce fat in the liver by half. I watch out for inflammatory foods like seed/vegetable oils too. Incorporate nutrient dense foods instead. Diet plays a role as does stress/sleep. Check out Dr. Eric Berg on TH-cam. He has videos on visceral fat. Hope this helps. Great job with the exercise! Keep up the good work.
