To prevent any chance of the 2 ramp sections telescoping during loading, you could drill a hole in the side and use your keeper pin to lock the length in place. I would do it on the inner edge of the ramp so you don't hit your shin on it when walking around. Great job, love the channel, keep healing.
The magic knife makes an appearance!! Great to see the truck taking more shape. Good thing those ramps will probably only get used a couple times a day max, they are beautifully engineered, but you’ll need most of your old man strength. 😊👍👍
@@ratrodsafrica It’s good to have a young friend. YoungER, anyway. 😊. Of course I remember the knife! I scour the racks for one every time I’m in the store. Still haven’t found one… ☹️
Bring out the Barefoot Mechanic to go ape on it with that hammer. I love this man's creativity and that plasma cutter sure is slick. Those plug welds look hella sweet.
Great to see yo back at it Div. At your own pace. If you find the steel a bit slippery then throw some sand onto some wet oil base paint on those ramps. Instant grip surface and easy touch up later.
Hey Div, I know I said it before but, damn brother, you are one helluva fabricator. I'll just keep sitting in the corner and try to learn as much as I can.😁 Thanks for sharing your build vids, they are always a treat, keep up the great work.👌👍😎🔥
Only thing I see going wrong is the two halves separating if you peel out on the smaller section. If you drill a few pre measured holes on the vertical face, you can re use your handles to keep the two pieces together when you are loading a vehicle. I love the ingenuity. Always love watching you fab. Thanks from the bay, and have a lakka one Div.
Easy enough to implement your plan if required. But on even level surface there is a overlap of around 2 ft, so doubt it will be necessary. We will see 🙂
Dear Mr. Diff. 👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! The famous thinking chair has really worked very well on this one! The sliding ramps are ingenious. Congratulations 🎉 Now all you need is a tow hitch and you can take 3 or nay even 4 vehicles to the next oldtimer show/meeting (including the REO of course). 😁 ;-) Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health in particular.
Diff, at my age I’m always looking for help. If it were me I would add a spring system or counter weight system to help getting the ramps in and out. Keep up the great work. Frank
Sounds a little like you have a cold or are still shedding dessert dust. Love the truck with big ramps. The weight will probably help it ride better 👌 🇨🇦 👍

Wonderful job Div! I have always dreamed of building a ramp truck with an old ford f600. You are such an inspiration to others! SO happy that you are feeling better now! You have people thinking about you and wishing you good health. Including me in West Virginia!
Watched again brother !!! Perfect craftsmanship as always !!!! Waiting to see the Ole gal rolling coal !!!! Down the road !!!! Lol !!!! She is coming together like a puzzle !!!! Have a lekka one brother and please say hi to everyone for me 😂
Nice and tough. It looks lekka too! For the Topolino you could make a folding inner extension to narrow the gap. That could be an h shape on it's side with cross bar square tubes that would fold into the two legs of the h with pivots inside the h. You would need a way to lock them into a square (well, rectangle) to use. When you are done just slide the sides in opposite directions and everything folds up in the h's.
The ramps may be heavy but it is not something you use several times a day. A bit of grease on the rails may be messy but will help in sliding. Fabulous work .
Ramps look good and strong enough that some Dimple die/speed holes could have had a dual purpose, traction and weight reduction. Not complaining just another idea if you already hadn't thought of it.
Diff, I now have a pissed wifey just because I ruined a few of her kitchen knifes while trying your cutting method shown around 15:53 of your video. I proofed I don't have your skill!...LOL Great work sir!
Hey Diff, nice fabrication on the ramps!😊 I had a set of drop axles with suspension and built my hauler about 25 years ago. Salvaged steel, salvaged axles put together by a salvaged OG! I had several steel stair treads from a commercial project. They're 3' long by 8" wide. I stitched them together, staggering the joints, to make two 6' long ramps. I built the hinge mount using 3/4" pipe and 3/4" solid bar stock. I can slide them about 8" in which gives me almost 14" adjustment in width. They can fold flat to the deck or travel upright on the braces. If need be I can pull the pins and slide the ramps under the load. I'm glad to see you back in the shop. Keep the faith Brother! It ain't over till it's over!
Hey Diff. Love your work. Just a suggestion from one old bloke to another. Take some weight out of those ramps by drilling a series of 25mm or similar holes in the rails and also on the treads. The holes will also give extra traction. Looks good too.
Absolutely brilliant, long ramps that take up minimal space. Great job on the stops and pin also. This should give you many years of service. Smart move on the holding pin from someone who had a ramp come out once.
Simple and effective design, a bunch of grease will make it easier to slide in and out. You can put a tent on top of it for the next Pandemonium with all you need and missed the first time! Thanks for sharing Div.
I forgot about the ramp truck till you mentioned it . Looks like the ramp system works great . Some real thought went it to that baby . Thanks brother !

Well made pair of ramps..one thing I will give you prior warning about is the noise..I had to add some rubber straps to my rails...doesn't help them slide out but the noise of them rattling away over any surface that wasn't as smooth as a snooker table would drive you insane
@@ratrodsafrica good news is I already have a solution..just haven't got around to doing it yet..make screw clamps to hold them tight against the rails and stop them moving😉
Diff, there are a lot of fabricators out there on U Tube, but none better than you. You attention to detail is second to none. You do great work

Nice one! Saw some haulers use steel mesh on the ramps to save weight.
Great class professor! Nice work Diff. Gonna be an awesome hauler.👍

WOW that looks more like a 49 REO than a 59. Must have been different in South Africa. Cool old truck!
I'm guessing the year. Very little info available on these trucks, but from what I could find, the ones from the 40's had a completely different grill

Now that you had a refreshing romp in the desert it's good to see you chop and weld!
Jip, time to do some work again! 😅
This ramp truck could pick up a tank...Great job!
From past experience drill a small hole. On the bottom of the ramps for drainage. Condensation will fill them with water otherwise.
