      Thank you and it all depends on what type it f rod I’m building. That being said, I usually use Fuji, Alps, American and American Tackle.

    I was wondering how on earth a video about color preserver could be so long. Question answered!🤣🤣🤣. Well done.
    Typically, I get really good results with one heavy coat of color preserver. I use flex coat as well. Assuming you have tried that as well, what advantages have you found with using four very controlled coats?
    Very interesting video. Thanks!

      I like using four controlled coats to ensure it dries evenly and I get every thread covered. Just something I’ve always done. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    An old video but I thought Id add to it....recently a customer ordered a breast cancer awareness rod. The pink ribbon decals I ordered were not laminated (my fault) to protect against the acetone thats in our thread finishes. I used CP to cover the decal, then I applied the thread finsh. Came out perfect.

      Awesome and thank you for sharing 🌈. Also appreciate the contribution to the video thread. 🙏

    Great video brother. Is there any advantage on putting cp on nocp thread?

      If so, just one coat, but I do not do it myself.

    I noticed that you were very careful when applying the color preserver that you didn't get any on the rod blank that didn't have threads on it. My question is, what happens if you get the color preserver on the rod blank where there are no threads. Will it stain or damage the blank? If it does is there any way to remove the color preserver from the blank or preserve it or take it back to its original state if it can be done at all.

      Good catch Ralph, and I use a towel to wipe it off if I get any color preserver on the blank. Thank you for watching.

    I use the flex coat cp as well, but my last rod came out with dark spots in the thread. What causes the dark spots?

    • @brendonvirgil-virgilcustom8441

      I did only use one heavy coat.

    • @reelbluecustomrods
      @reelbluecustomrods  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brendon, it could be something in the thread that causes that. What kind of thread did you use?

      @@reelbluecustomrods PacBay. It only seemed to do it around the guide feet or where I tied them off. I can provide pictures tonight when I get home.

    I did not receive an answer to the main question - how much does the preserver prevent the penetration of epoxy under the threads? It would be nice if you cut off one winding and show what was under the threads.

      Thank you for asking, but that was not the main question in the video. I will answer this question though. I will cut off the guides and show you what it looks like in another video. Thank you for watching and for the continued support.
