    For our k4, I did the following.
    Bought a 15 meter hose and connector to join both new and old hoses (to be fair, the 15 meters is miles long enough to use on its own)
    I also chopped the plug off the electrical cable and joined an extra 10 meter cable with a water proof connector, also added the 5 peice spray nozzles.
    Now the machine can do everything I need it to do.

    Four bloomin’ years I’ve been struggling with my awful K4 hose. Made every car wash a pain in the ass. Have just taken delivery of a new hose and short grip from directhoses. What a difference! Kicking myself for not thinking to do it sooner.

    With the quick connect system you can also attach chassis washing spray bar on wheels nice to do for upcoming inspections or if planning on working underneath a vehicle to clean muck dirt and most importantly road salt after winter

    Thanks for the video , helpful and informative. I found it whilst searching for info about replacement hoses for my K4 from the useless hard inflexible one that came with it. I’d not looked at the trigger guns before but since watching your video I have used your affiliate link and ordered a direct hoses 15M hose and trigger gun bundle. You’ll not be retiring on the proceeds but it’s better than a poke in the eye with a lance. 😃

    • @GMDetails

      Ah yeah sun heating up the plastic hose is a problem but the reinforced rubber should help prevent it no?

    • @Tracertme
      @Tracertme ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GMDetails heat actually helps because it makes everything more flexible..but in the cooler months winter, it still does as you suggested. Thanks for your tips, I had to use different links because Amazon and others won’t deliver from the other side of the world, they prefer local distribution points, for cost I suspect, but it did get me thinking and pay attention to the various compatibility connectors etc and focus on building up probably much in the same way I suspect you originally did. Some of it arrived today… so full credit to you.. 👍

    Thanks for this. I got my k4 3 weeks ago and after going round the car with the foam gun the 8m hose was a tangle and meant I couldn't reach the front without moving the machine. Got the 10m hose and short trigger from direct hoses as it came in a tenner cheaper buying together. Anti twist on the trigger gun means a simple twist of the hose is required to straighten it rather than spinning the gun. Lance is ordered but is still a week away from delivery so I'll give my thoughts when it's here.

Must learn to check away from the car as twice I fired the white nozzle onto the Mrs motor. No damage fortunately but I can see there could easily be if the metal insert strikes first. Just had to Google it there 😅 seems like they’ve shoe horned a K4 into a K2 body there 😳 really slim machine!, a new one on me, mine was the K4 Full Control, now called Power Control, then there’s a compact version and the Universal which you have, seems really odd to have so many variations of the same machine.

      I think they’re exactly the same power wise it all comes down to accessories and the kit that comes with it , pretty sure the premium has a built in hose reel but as the standard hose is rubbish I changed my hose for a rubber anti kink one which might be too bulky for the built in hose (even if it can be detached 🤔)
      If it’s a K4 you’re def set on I’d go for the K4 power control , there’s still a space to store a hose at the rear of the machine lasso style but premium?. I’d save the money and buy a rubber 15m hose 👌

    looking at and going by few (nozzle) table chart’s it falls between 030 & 035 (035 safely with mine it’s max flow rate (9ltr/pm) table shows a 030 nozzle would push pressure up to 180bar excess back pressure on pump would bypass (hammer) the safety valve and stress pump & motor too early death ~ luckily my Lavor has adjustable unloading valve & pressure gauge (same as kranzle TS pump) adjustment excess pressure, thinking about a flow meter to see what it’s displacement is, looks like 1/3 or 1/2 more than a K4 & still going strong…

    I came across your really helpful video whilst trying to figure out how to stop the hose on my K4 Full control keep popping off the back of the machine. I think I'm going to follow your advise with the hose replacement (and probably the shorter handle) as the existing hose kinking drives me mad. Before I invest in the new hose though, do you have any experience of hoses popping off the back of the unit and how I can stop it happening? Mines does it after a few seconds under pressure. I've tried pliers on the clip to narrow it but nothing seems to be working.

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dave , apologies for not replying sooner , been away on holiday
      I have heard of this clip flying off and ejecting the hose on the K4 and I believe it’s one of two problems
      1. The clip is being inserted in the wrong place (easy mistake to make) make sure the hose lines up with the connector lines
      2. The clip is being pushed in too far , that’s another common fault , it shouldn’t be pushed all the way in , it only needs to clip in to place once then it should hold.
      I think both of these problems are probably something you’ve tried and unfortunently I’m now onto the k5 compact which has a completely different connection fitting I can’t show anything further , hope you get to the bottom of the problem Dave 🤞

    Does the QR gun you're using have a swivel base?
    Also I have an Autobrite snow foam cannon with the Karcher connector. In your video (around 11,30) you say you can easily change to the quick connect...is this by means of an adapter or buying another foam cannon with quick release?

      Hi M R welcome along and thanks for Subscribing to the channel 👋
      Thing is with the K7 Does it has the variable Bluetooth power controller on the Karcher lance?, In which case changing to a QR gun might not suit you if you use that feature , it would still work if you kept the Bluetooth gun on the power washer tho, in its holder and control it that way 🤔
      The Autobrite lances can be changed yes, it’s best done with the help of a vice and tools to remove the Karcher adaptor as AD seal them in with glue but it can be done , I managed it with a couple of mole grips and blisters 😅
      Mine does have a swivel base but it kind of locks up under pressure, still better than not swivelling tho
      I think it’s time Karcher brought out its own version of the QC gun don’t you ?

    Is the snow foam being thick and clingy part of using a good snow foam gun or a good shampoo? Because I used the Karcher snow foam and it's just not even half as thick. It just sort of splashes shampoo on the car
    Also one more question, now that you switched from full control gun to a normal gun with no control. How do you control the pressure? Because I have a K7 full control premium, and the gun allows me to control the pressure.

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for the questions and also thanks for watching, The Kärcher shampoo isn’t the best in my opinion, there is a major difference between a shampoo & a snow foam as well, kärcher really just seem to want to cater for the general market but using chemicals designed by brands who research automotive cleaning are best used, companies like Auto-Glym, Bilt-Hamber and Garage Therapy are all excellent brands to check out. A good snow foam gun is also, in my opinion, completely necessary to get the best results, keep an eye out for my snow foam gun test comparing 10 lances coming soon!
      If you switched from the full control gun to the short fixed gun you could keep the original Lance in the holder and adjust the power that way or simply change to a different nozzle which changes the fan degree thus either giving you a direct pressure or less pressure with a wider nozzle.

    Karcher machines used to be good quality however they're absolute garbage now. My karcher K4 full control only 4 months old broke at the plastic elbow as seen at 4:58 in the video. Also the hose is such bad quality and isn't good for any time of year.
    To get a new hose from direct hoses you're looking at roughly £50. The cost of the new elbow was around £20 for me and the replacement item was metal (seriously Karcher, did you really save that much money by making them plastic?) add a short trigger lance which I paid around £40 for and you're looking at over £100 extra on top of whatever you bought the K4 for.
    With Karcher making most of the internal parts plastic rather than metal I suggest people buy elsewhere. They may have saved money on production costs, but for me I will NEVER buy another Karcher pressure washer, ever again. I'm sure many others will agree with me too! For those few ££ saved you will have lost more money in the lost reputation. For me, when I buy another one ill be looking at AVA of Norway (new company to the UK), or Kranzle. I know that AVA use all metal components in their pumps etc

      @GMDetails  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment. As the title shows I’ve had loyal service from this machine for over 5 years with NO issues whatsoever from internal parts, clips or connections.
      The direct hoses 15m hose was only £25 but if you want a gun as well the whole hose and gun comes in around £70 all in but it’s an upgrade , not a necessity, the hose that comes with it is manageable but def the flex hose from DH is far superior
      You’ve got to remember these are domestic machines , mass produced and plastic is the cheapest material, do you know what some of the new electric Audi’s suspension components are made of now?, yeah that’s right , plastic!!
      Love it or hate it (clearly you’ve had a bad experience) but I love Karcher machines and now enjoying the K5 compact , brilliant machines in my experience.
      5 years use from a machine costing sub £200 is a no brainier, I hate the way Nilfisk machines sound & I don’t like the quality of the accessories , that would irritate me so for me, I’ll never buy one

    Hi Grahame, great informative video. Will this hose (in your video) be OK with a K2 or do you recommend getting the K4? First time buying a pressure washer to clean new car etc, nothing major. Many thanks 👍

      @GMDetails  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi!, It ‘can’ fit the newer K2 -as long as it has the quick connect hose on it however not all Karcher guns are able to take the quick connect hose strangely , if your gun has the ‘C’ clip gun then if you’re upgrading your hose you’ll need a new gun also, no problems if you go for the K4 though, the gun is perfectly fine with the quick connect hose. The K4 would be my recommended starter machine for cleaning cars, patio etc, hope that helps 👍

    LIKED & SUBSCRIBED - Enjoyed with interest given I am looking to purchase a short trigger gun to compliment my Karcher K5 Compact machine that as quick release and a 8m hose ideal for car cleaning is this machine without having to move it while spraying. I will have a look at the links you put up but thanks for a great video.

      Hi David , thank you very much that’s very kind of you, welcome along!!
      I have recently upgraded my gun to the MTM SGS35 stainless steel one with soft trigger and have noticed a massive difference in hand fatigue using it , so much easier to use and with it being stainless steel the internals are safe from corrosion too.
      Just another consideration for you I’ve put the link in the description for you to look at. 👍

    Isn't the water pressure weaker than the existing high-pressure gun?
    When I used it, I felt weak.

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The pressure is stronger in the gun than the original Karcher twist lance as the nozzles close down the spray angle and increase the pressure of the water , which nozzles are you using with the gun?

      @GMDetails I'm using a k4 compact, and Short Guns Purchased From Amazon
      The nozzle used a 25 degree nozzle from the video.
      I asked karcher and he answered that using a short gun lowers the pressure.
      But you said no, so I think there's something wrong with my short gun or nozzle.

    • @GMDetails

      The K2 should have the same depending on the age of it , to separate the hose from the handle make sure the machine is off and not connected to water pull trigger and press the yellow button under the trigger and it should separate , then as long as you buy a gun with Karcher fit then it’ll fit that type , as long as you have that detachable hose clip
