Thank you very much for your DIY videos , direct , great visuals shows exactly what you need to do and tools required . Keep doing what your doing .....
So helpful thank you, garage attached to O'Reilly wanted $107 for the same $30 dollar belt offered in the same store but not through the garage side. Then $300 for the labor
The tensioner has 2 holes that line up when you pull back the tensioner so you can drop a pin or punch in and lock the tensioner back out of the way until you're ready to release it back onto the belt .
Thanks for the video. It was a big help. I was able to replace the tensioner starting from the top on my Mitsubushi Montero. I work outside, so I thought it would be easier than going from underneath as you did. It was a tight working space for me. I would try your method next time..
I appreciate the video, but you didn't have to remove the tensioner, right? Otherwise, it gives me a good overview. Thanks Chris Maybury for the tip about the 2 holes and the tensioner.
I'm convinced my mother's 03 Outlander has a stretched belt... I noticed the tensioner rattled a lot during acceleration and/or when the A/C compressor kicked on so I went ahead and replaced it thinking the spring inside the tensioner had lost its tension and now the new one is still sitting WAY too close to the crankshaft pulley.
@@DanielGonzalez-pg9rv Changing the serpentine belt fixed it. You will need a 1/2" breaker bar to undo tension. If it doesn't fix it, go for the next thing... the tensioner itself (which will probably cost more than the serpentine belt).
I just subscribed..i have a question..what causes a loud engine esp on high rpm after replacing timing belt and waterpump? engine became louder than normal..
I have an 07 outlander I need help finding the power steering tensioner because I don't want to mess anything up. It's a great car just very expensive to repair.
do these things make a ticking noise when the spring fails? I replaced the pulley but still get the same noise from it. I used a half gallon milk jug and a screw driver taped to it as a megaphone and when I put it on the arm the noise comes from that area.
How much slack should there be when fitting the belt? I have the auto tensioner fully retracted and can't get the belt to clear the crankshaft pulley. It is very tight. I have an 01/2005 Grandis with the MIVEC 2.4 and using 6PK1873 belt.
Dude you didn't even show anybody you putting on the tensioner! You needed to inform the people how many bolts went on the tensioner. My car has a broken bolt and I can't get it out bc the head is torn off and I just had one bolt on the bottom on. That's why I watched your video
Clint Roehr did you change it? Was it a struggle? I changed the belt and keeps slipping off and may need to change the tensioner. Tensioner is in the middle
GinaFromConstantine probably too late but there are 2 12 mm bolts, on you get to from engine bay or underneath, and other you get to just near the tendsioner on the sash guard. I actually broke mine ripping it off I got so frustrated... LoL the bolt from the engine bay is a bitch to get at unless you can get to it from underneath somehow. I figure just undoing the one bolt near the tensioner is enough to play around and get it out of the way
DIY Auto Repair Videos lol. I understand believe me my self works on cars and had worked on tractor trailers when you work alot by your self on 2 man jobs you lose track easy you find ways fo improvise though so that's a plus nice video though.
I am not sure about the mileage interval, but I would replace it when its time to replace the timing belt. You can also get a flash light and check the weep hole thats by the water pump pulley for any leaks..if its leaking or you see dried up coolant its time to replace it. GL
I really rate this guy with a 10/10 His videos are short and precise. Good job, keep it coming
Thank you for doing a video on a Mitsubishi, there aren't many videos out there.
True...
I always appreciate seeing someone else do it before I do
Thank you. This kept me from blowing the car up over aggravation. Thank you again
You're a legend, this is the exact same motor as my 06 Lancer ES and i need to replace the tensioner pulley. Also thanks for the belt diagram!
Thank you very much for your DIY videos , direct , great visuals shows exactly what you need to do and tools required . Keep doing what your doing .....
Brilliant video dude, straight to the point, good for Delica D5 too. Keep well
So helpful thank you, garage attached to O'Reilly wanted $107 for the same $30 dollar belt offered in the same store but not through the garage side. Then $300 for the labor
Finally, someone showed how to release the tensioner. Thanks A Lot.
Thankyou! I was old school thinking belt on first then do tensioner but, here we are.
The tensioner has 2 holes that line up when you pull back the tensioner so you can drop a pin or punch in and lock the tensioner back out of the way until you're ready to release it back onto the belt .
Smart !😊
I need to collect more tools so I can use this trick...no pins or punches atm. Time to go shopping 🤑😎🚘
Good tip, done a 2.5Lt 4D56t (2011 Triton) ??
Thanks man! I was wondering how some guys were keeping it cocked bag 😶
@@gorn1120 you could probably throw in a screwdriver

thanks for publishing this how-to
It worked for me and my Galant
Hi, I like your video very simple and helpful. Thanks for sharing
Great video, thanks!!
Enjoy this video! How about 2003 Mitsubishi Galant 2.4 L with AC? There are two belts. How to adjust the tension on tensioner pully?
I'm convinced my mother's 03 Outlander has a stretched belt... I noticed the tensioner rattled a lot during acceleration and/or when the A/C compressor kicked on so I went ahead and replaced it thinking the spring inside the tensioner had lost its tension and now the new one is still sitting WAY too close to the crankshaft pulley.
did you solve it? I have the same problem
@@DanielGonzalez-pg9rv Changing the serpentine belt fixed it. You will need a 1/2" breaker bar to undo tension. If it doesn't fix it, go for the next thing... the tensioner itself (which will probably cost more than the serpentine belt).
You're awesome! You saved me time & $$ Brudda!! Mahalo Nui Loa!!!
Its the same for my 2005 evo lancer i would definitely recommend to other people who need to do this.
Very easy. Thank you.
thank goodness for youtube!
Do you have to take the tensioner off then put it back on? I saw you take it off but not put it back on.
Very good job
Thank you so much for this video
I wish this technique would work on a 2017 Mitsubishi outlander 2.4 l engine having a hard time reinstalling these new serpentine belt
Will this work still for the 2004?
I just subscribed..i have a question..what causes a loud engine esp on high rpm after replacing timing belt and waterpump? engine became louder than normal..

Hi, I have a 2006 2.4 Lancer. Can you tell me if I have to remove the auto transmission in order to replace the engine?

What size were the 4 bolts on the outside of the crank pulley mine sheared off and I do not have them to replace
Great, now can you do 2.5Lt 4D56t (2011 Triton) Similarish but different..
Does this also go for an 03 spyder
thank s bro help me alot
How long did it take you?
Can anyone explain how to get the tensioner out of a 2013 outlander?
My belt is a little loose after putting it on …how do I tighten it?
hi there. do u have to replace the tensioner when u are replacing the serpentine belt or just the belt?
If there are both old then yes it’s good practice to do, you want things to work together evenly
Didn't work for a 2014 outlander se. The tensioner was moved so now you need to remove additional plastic panels under the car :(
Dude you didn't even show anybody you putting on the tensioner! You needed to inform the people how many bolts went on the tensioner. My car has a broken bolt and I can't get it out bc the head is torn off and I just had one bolt on the bottom on. That's why I watched your video
What about a 2009 Lancer GTS 2.4? Is this process the same because I don't see a tensioner.... Do I need to remove my starter to change the serp belt?
Clint Roehr you probably have a manual tensioner. doesn't look like this
Clint Roehr did you change it? Was it a struggle? I changed the belt and keeps slipping off and may need to change the tensioner. Tensioner is in the middle
Awesome video!
Bro that 14mm was so tight!!! I had to use a breaker bar with socket 😥
which is the number of belt?
How much does a tensioner goes for?
Does anyone know how to remove that plastic over with the punch out on an 08 eclipse? Seems like there’s no good way to get at it.

This y we go to auto shop 😂😂
Why did you remove the tensioner?
+Juan Garcia-Herreros - I know eh. you don't need to remove the tensioner when changing belts.
You were going to use the impact on the hub caps :)
Justin1984 gantt haha yes, its hard to do camera work and keep focus sometimes.

Hei i have Mitsubishi ASX Diesel l will change serpentine belt sistem is same you thing
The serpentine belt was changed and its still making that noise. What should I do next?
Maybe you know what happens to my car?Making Squeaky noise but belt not turning at all?
when would i have to change water pump as well? or how can I check if it needs to be replaced on same car (mitsubishi outlander)?

DIY Auto Repair Videos I noticed you didn't show reinstalling the tensioner. do you happen to know the torque spec for the 2 bolts?
