John Dyson - I swear, the way you people distort things over and over again just makes me want to puke! The officers LOUDLY identified themselves as NYPD officers. Instead of cooperating, Diallo ran up the outside steps toward his apartment house doorway at their approach, ignoring their orders to stop and "show his hands". The porch lightbulb was out and Diallo was backlit by the inside vestibule light, showing only a silhouette. Diallo then reached into his jacket and withdrew his wallet. Seeing the man holding a small square object, one cop yelled "Gun!" to alert his colleagues. The officers opened fire on Diallo, believing he was holding a gun. They were not given a CHANCE to see his ID, and they certainly did not have TIME to verify it was not a gun he was brandishing. Diallo was actually hit 19 times. If he did not run away but instead had cooperated with the police in the first place (which is the case with EVERY ONE of these "unarmed blacks killed by cops" situations), he would be alive today.

Have you heard of the case of (Annie Dookhan) the crime lab tech who examined about 34,000 cases before she was caught misidentifying samples? She was even responsible for adding cocaine to samples to make people look guilty. There is no way to tell at this point how many innocent people she was responsible for sending to prison. Another similar case involved a crime lab worker named Sonja Farak. She was responsible for possibly tainting as many as 10,000 or more prosecutions. Furthermore, TYT did an interview with an Ex-Baltimore cop (Michael Wood). Mr. Wood exposed the corruption and abuse in the police culture. Especially, how they would seek out arrests in black neighborhoods and avoid white neighborhoods. It would appear that black people commit most of the crimes since they are the ones sought out after majority of the time. Not to mention all the men exonerated due to being wrongly convicted. Therefore, when someone like Rudy Giuliani start reading off such statistics I automatically disregard their messages.

To me what the statistics show is that Americans still have a very segregated mindset. It's not like that in France, Germany, the U.K. Granted they don't have as high percentage of "blacks" in their countries, but people are not afraid to hang out with someone who doesn't look like them to the extent we see here in the states. There's still a very tribalistic mentality and taboo we have built into our mindset. Even if we aren't racist, we still feel an uncomfortable feeling around people that don't look the way we do. Little Georgie can't have too many black friends. He might become one of them! If you want more evidence of this, do an independent investigation. Go to the mall. Go to a school's lunchroom. Blacks typically still stay with blacks and whites typically stay with whites.

I can see how some people may misinterpret Giuliani's statements. He mentioned some sensitive topics and people are bound to get offended but I honestly dont think he meant it the way you said it. When you try to be logical, you try to go with evidence than opinion. THat's what the grand jury did. That is what Rudy's intention was. By providing #s , he was hoping to get his point across. If he only stated his own opinion, he would have 0 backing. The #s he gave was not perfect by any means, and I really dont think thats something people should be focusing on. The real focus should be the high crime rates in black communities which is a fact if you check the #s . He was just saying why isn't anyone protesting significantly about the high crime rate?
Many people dont know this, but just TWO days after this shooting, a shooting occured in Utah, where an unarmed white man was killed by an armed black officer. Where was the protest for that one?
I was very disappointed that Dyson lost his calm so quickly. Some of the things he said is outrageous. White police officers dont get arrested for killing black? That's because it was judged based on as much evidence as possible via grand jury and not by 20 different and contradicting witness reports. By that logic, black officers dont get arrested either for killing white since the Utah case, the black officer wasn't arrested.

Can everyone agree with this:
1) Hiring more police officers that are black, especially in places where they'll be patrolling majority black areas.
2) More community based policing implemented in police departments; meaning departments should increase recruitment of individuals who are from where they will work.
3) Police (of all colors) should directly engage socially with young black men, generally in areas where there are higher rates of fatherless households. (all cops but especially city cops should try to form friendships between themselves and those in the black community, specifically young males).
4) School based inner-city youth programs sponsored by that city's local police dept. that create familiarity with police and black students. (for instance, twice a month for 7th and 8th graders the kids' social studies class will not have regular lessons and have a big brother type program between one cop and one kid. The two talk for 45 mins. twice a month or play sports, whatever the kid is interested in, they do).

To me, they are refugees. They weren't complaining about white-cops either. 'Nuff said. Take the splinters from your eyes.

But black on black violence is a different topic! It has nothing to do with the shooting in Ferguson, or any other white cop shoots unarmed black man incident. Black on black violence is an issue that needs to be addressed, but not when you discuss Ferguson. Bringing it up all the time as an excuse to what happened in Ferguson makes no sense.

Also frankly speaking statistics prove that crime rises with unemployment/under employment(FACT). so the nation needs to address that issue. If the states stop discrimination of black men and allow us the ability to obtain GAINFULL EMPLOYMENT, no different from any other race or ethnic group, crime will decrease. OK kids I'm your teacher for the day, let's do an experiment. One community has a 93% percent crime rate, another community 4 to 5 times bigger then the first community has an 83% crime rate. Now kids which community has the bigger crime rate and body count? Cmon now kids it shouldn't take long to solve this one.
