      they're not really "centrist" they're just pro-corporate. Harris won't take their bribe money and Trump is too much of a moron to trust, so now they're desperately trying to use the media to persuade Harris.

      unless republicans are willing to give up the partisanship and start to compromise and cooperate on legislation, there is no centrism, no moderate position. the country has swung too far right and needs to be corrected back to a more social democracy.

      Calling CNN Centrists is the same as calling all Leftsist Stalinists. Anyone who thinks the average "Centrist" is ideologically like CNN, is creating a convenient strawman.
      No, they are Oligarch Owned, that's their essential feature.
      And left right Centrist is a culture war, it has no value or clear meaning anymore, other than a clique. It DOESNT HELP US BUILD SOLIDARITY against Oligarchs.
      Tim Walz does.

      They ran me off when I noticed the lengths to which they would go to rile up the black population in the mid 2010's. Ever since then they have just became spineless half azzed journalists who only care about ratings, which is why they tanked. They ran off their left leaning voters like me and tried to obtain an audience that was never going to watch CNN to begin with. I digress.

She appears to have learned by following that advise and watching her popularity tank. So far she’s largely ignored them this run and it’s worked out for her. @@jamesbreen8416 Trump really made it a weird dynamic. CNN went more MAGA because it was better for their ratings. Fox went a little left because Trump wanted a further right wing network and was bad for business. So both CNN and Fox kind of headed to a shitty centrist territory but tried to pretend like they still had their original biases. Actually MACA works

    • @gawthic1
      @gawthic1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nah, they do it because they're greedy and they want to get high ratings. If mainstream media did their job and reported on Trumpublican insanity the way they should, Trump would have ZERO chance of winning and people would watch fewer programs about the election. Viewers would just check in once a day to make sure that Trump was still an idiot, then they would tune out MSM to do something more fun, productive, or both. MSM needs to make the election into a competitive horse race even if one of the horses is running in circles, biting at their own tail.

    From a data science point of view, moving to the center on the political axis makes sense if your choices are close to optimal. If your choices are both bad, you're looking at the wrong variables. If Kamala and Trump were at +20 and +15 favorability, then moving toward the center might be a good idea. Last I checked, Kamala is -3.6 and Trump is -9.2. These numbers say the choices are nowhere near optimal, and there are other variables like populism, that you should move toward. Tim Walz is +4.7. Why the hell would you move toward Trump and not Walz?

    *1 of 2. This is how you always need to vote:*
    We must fully criticize and _always vote_ *against* (& less authoritarian than) both the Republican *and* Democratic Parties- including *Kamala Harris,* AOC, all of the squad, Bernie Sanders, Edward Markey, Mark Pocan, the justice democrats, & all other democrats. Vote in every single election- at all levels. And also _endorse or anti-endorse,_ in all elections you can, for outside your voting jurisdiction.
    For _all_ public positions. And this same strategy applies against the one or more party-monopolies in _all_ countries worldwide.
    Real progressives will never be Democratic Members or Democratic loyalists. Never vote for _any_ Republican member or loyalist either.
    If no candidates for a position fit that bill:
    -Where _write-ins_ are permissible, always write-in an anti-authoritarian person;
    -Where write-ins aren’t permissible, always vote uncommitted or leave the ballot blank.
    This will continuously reduce the power of _all_ authoritarian parties in the party monopolies: Until our task is complete.
    Repeat strategy for all new authoritarian parties that emerge.

    "Don't focus on groups who will enthusiatically support you and go out to vote for you if you show them support. Instead focus on the people who might decide "Oh ok I guess I could go out and vote for them""
    And yes it is a good idea to try to appeal to those voters, but focusing on them instead and just assuming you have progressives locked down is the stupidest possible strategy.
    Progressives want consistent results and unlike mostly non-political disinterested moderate voters, progressives will become an entire extra branch of the campaign heavily donating, supporting rallies and just generally encouraging people to vote. Moderate voters just will not assist a campaign like that.
