    Marylin Manson dislikes the aspects of society where people just want to see pretty, safe things and not think too deeply about the problems around them which is why in many of his videos he gets right in your face with scary, disturbing things. He has more mellow videos, too, and in some of them he is actually attractive in a very unconventional way.

      @@mistymichelle9957 Thank you. I'm trying to hang in there and hope that things will change. My daughter who is my whole world decided she no longer wanted me in her life. We spoke everyday and were very close so I am devastated. I don't understand why. She blocked all avenues of communication after she sent that text a month ago. I wasn't even given the opportunity to ask her what was going on that would cause her to do me that way. At first I thought maybe she had a bad day and was taking it out on me...or maybe I had said something that she took the wrong way. She lives in Texas and I'm in Tennessee. I have gone over everything and never saw this coming. My birthday was last Friday and then Sunday was mother's day...not a word from her. I'm still in shock and cried all that weekend. Pretty much cry a bit each day. Especially when she called my sister and wished her a happy mother's day and didn't even mention me. Thanks again for your kind words. My daughter and her husband have done very well for themselves and I really think that because I'm poor and a truck driver I'm an embarrassment to her. I was so proud of her achievements and would tease her about her being a snob. We would laugh but I guess I shouldn't have been laughing. She went for a pedicure and said she'd never go to this guy again and I asked why. She said he was too rough and didn't massage her feet and legs long enough. I, who has never had a pedicure, thought it was funny. I said "honey, are you trying to tell me you got yourself a redneck pedicure? How dare that bastard!"
      Please pray for me...I felt she was best friend too. Lost and confused doesn't even describe how hurt I am. Sorry for the TMI

      @@lcharm69 Please don't apologize, honey. I have a 19 year-old daughter that joined the Navy at the end of March. Very different circumstances, but I understand the torture of not getting to talk to your child. It's an even smaller world because I happen to reside in Texas, and I don't let anyone mess with my feet. I don't know you or your daughter, but you're both in my thoughts. From one mother to another, keep the faith. She'll find her way home.

    • @Cyssane
      @Cyssane 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Came here to say the same thing. Most people who are only aware of his music are genuinely surprised to hear him speak in interviews or off-stage. In the Michael Moore film "Bowling for Columbine", he and Moore had an in-depth interview on how school shootings and the climate of fear and consumption are linked.

    • @Whoopdido777
      @Whoopdido777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah he should go look up the interview with like Bill O’Reilly for example. Bill just didn’t know what to say. He kept asking Marylin these questions, most likely expecting to get some off the wall crazy response, but every response was pretty normal. He just dresses weird and acts kinda weird (I mean I don’t think he’d fit in with my circle of friends and I wouldn’t fit into his) but like you said, when he speaks it’s not like he’s possessed or anything. He is well spoken and often outwits the people who are interviewing him because they’re trying to make him look evil and whatnot. He’s just a singer.

    The aesthetics of this video are truly something and I think they influenced many other music videos of the same era. David Bowie's video for "Little Wonder" looks similar and also does one of my favorites: Garbage's video for "Push it"

      Manson cited Bowie as an inspiration to him & the different eye color contacts he wore was an homage to Bowie. In Manson's "Dope Show" video he even has a scene where he is a "Ziggy" doppelganger. (makeup, red hair, red platform boots, etc) Bowie was touring with NIN around the time "Little Wonder" was released, as well, which also has the "Ziggy" clone in it. Haha, 6 degrees...

      Without a doubt, Bowie was a man of class. I have been a devout Bowie fan since the mid 70's, and he was a very controversial figure at the time. You often kept liking him to yourself just to keep from starting a fight. I had never realized the influence he had on so many other performers until more recently.
      As to Manson, I cannot & will not speak of his personal life or behavior. I certainly do not condone any of his alleged actions, and are not very knowledgeable about what they are. I am not here to judge, just having fun sharing info.

    Marilyn Manson, aka Brian Warner, is a shock rock preformer. A lot of people see his type of artistry and fail to hear that it's actually pretty good music. So I appreciate you liking what you heard even tho you weren't sure of what you were seeing lol. And FYI.. Marilyn Manson is a very intelligent individual. @@Warlock_UK Yes this song and video were made before youtube. There are several videos on youtube that were made before youtube that I think youtube has an algorithm that will censor "bad" words in popular videos. I watch a show called Time Team, it's an archaeological show that ran on Britain's channel 4 from 1994 to 2014, and I noticed in the older videos, the ones with the most views, certain words were being censored, there is an episode where they talk about a brook called the Shit Brook, shit was censored, I clearly remember it not being censored the first time I watched it, because it kinda surprised me it was allowed on British public television, but the last time I watched it on the low quality older video it was censored, also, in the newer ones posted in HD now shit was not censored. So IDK take it for what it's worth, it just seems odd that videos we know weren't or shouldn't be censored are currently censored on youtube.

    This song was used during the intro for WWE Smackdown back in the day late 90's, it really did get you pumped up for the show. The Rock was at his peak and he was just starting to get movie deals, The Undertaker's theme intro song was Limp Bizkit and Triple H's was Motorhead. Rob Zombie did The Edge's theme music. Most of those musicians were in the crowd and would get drawn into a fight or some skit.

I love the whole production, great song and message. I once heard a reporter ask Manson what he would say to the Columbine shooters. He responded, "I wouldn't say anything to them. I'd listen...because obviously nobody else was listening to them." Pretty deep answer, especially when performers like Manson are often blamed when a kid goes bad.

  • @nethrelm

    You were right to think of Marilyn Monroe. The name "Marilyn Manson" is literally "Marilyn Monroe" + "Charles Manson". Most of the band members' stage names have been the first name of a famous sex symbol and the last name of a serial killer. During this album they were: Daisy Berkowitz (quit during recording), Madonna Wayne Gacy, Ginger Fish, and Twiggy Ramirez. Some other members have been Zsa Zsa Speck, Olivia Newton Bundy, Gidget Gein, and Sara Lee Lucas. Other members didn't use these themed names though. I think Zim Zum was the first. He replaced Daisy Berkowitz as the guitarist after Daisy quit and this was his first music video with the band. The band has changed members quite a lot over the years though. Including Brian Warner ("Marilyn Manson"), there have been 19 different band members since he started the band in 1990. Manson is one of those people where I have to separate the art from the artist. The dude is a piece of crap, but he's also a highly intelligent and talented songwriter and musician (and actor even... he appeared in a few episodes of "Sons of Anarchy" and I thought he did a good job).
