Thank you for this video; I didn’t know this was a thing and I didn’t know why re-injuries kept happening to me. Your videos are really helpful and validating especially when a person “looks normal” but gets so much invalidation from others of the struggles trying to recover from concussion. I love your singing & songwriting too.
I think if it acts like a concussion it IS. Never once does she mention that you can get re concussed SO much more easily, like 4times more likely the next hit. I do like how she talks on desensitization of CNS.
This is exactly what happened to me. I blacked out Dec '22. I fell, hit my head and broke my back. I went to the ER where they missed my broken back and the concussion, a week later I went to another ER because I was unable to eat food or drink enough water to stay hydrated, this is the 2nd ER trip where they found the other 2 thing's. Doctors are still blowing me off and it's taken 9 months to be considered to be seen by a neurologist who specializes in dysautonomia. Over the course of a week I went from being able to walk to requiring assistance and 2 months later completely unable to walk at all. I am full time in a wheelchair. I had 2 prior concussions way back in about 1996-1997 and the doctors then did nothing. I was diagnosed on Dec 9, 2022 with Primary Dysautonomia & POTS, NCS and orthostatic hypotension. I have had fight or flight issues for a number of years and my blood pressure has been low for a very long time. Since I am in wheelchair now, I run into things and injure my hands even though I know I should steer clear. I find myself facing a wall to look at my phone, I don't listen to anyone like I once did. Basically I'm not who everyone says I was. I've fallen a few more times and I've hit my head several more times throughout the years, everyone blows it like it's no big deal. I have had 2 spinal cord injures in my life and this is a contributing factor to why I can no longer walk.
That recall exercise about concussions that we have experienced hurt my eyes and head and neck right before she said it might oh wow holy cow. I shared this video with my psyD just now and I plan to talk to my neurologist about my falling while simply standing lately and hearing "flash bangs" and mood issues related to the ideas you discussed when I see him in 3 days. You both addressed something I've been just learning to verbalize my experience of or even put my finger on recently with my therapist help. Much love to you for doing this channel. I made plans to share my TBI experiences on mine quite awhile back but I haven't had the courage I suppose yet. anyways thanks again.
it was very interesting listening and watching this video because it's the first time that I've heard somebody Dr talk about having repeated concussions or possible concussions. Quite a few years ago I saw a neuro psychologist who said to me that I was unusual because I'd had multiple concussions. I've also had the problem of bumping into things which I have put down to short-term memory loss because I don't get it as much if I'm in a familiar environment so I'm always more careful when I'm in in some place new . Do you have any ideas of how to reduce the risk of concussion when cycling? There are a number of new products on the market that claim to be more protective. I think that the idea that resting for 72 hours is sufficient is probably incorrect because with most injuries people underestimate how much rest they need and our Society is so fast pace that rest is something that we do not value you enough in my opinion. I also heard that if you fast after a concussion that can help to protect the brain . I know somebody who had multiple head traumas caused by pots and the blackouts and head trauma stopped when they stop taking a medication and they do not seem to have any enduring effects from the head traumas which I put down to them being quite a small person but I don't know if that is the real reason.

A nerve issue in my left leg will suddenly "turn off" my leg for a split second.
