  • Carbon Fibre HONDA Badge / Emblem Replicated. Start to Finish Including Mould. EPOXY
    In this video i replicate a Honda front car badge into a direct replacement carbon fibre badge using prepreg carbon fibre and out of autoclave curing.
    I'm not 100% happy with the final result, there are a few imperfections when sticking down the vinyl logo (Took 3 attempts!) just didn't want to sit nice on the curves.

    Your dremel skills are impressive - very stable and accurate hand cut there.

      Thank you! I used a vinyl plotter to cut it. Not expensive to buy for a small one.

    Hi sir! Can you sand prepreg carbon cloth ? For example if I wanna paint the 3D lettering on emblem badge and sand areas where paint is not needed? Hope this makes sense. Then obviously clean / clear once sanded. Hope you reply or someone that knows does. Thank you

    For the mold you're using epoxy gelcoat and then a coupling coat? I thought easy composites coupling coat was meant to be used with the ug1 black vinylester gelcoat, not epoxy gelcoat. Are you sure this is supposed to be done?
    Thanks

    • @CarbonWorkshops
      @CarbonWorkshops  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      'Technically' it doesn't work. But if gel coat is left the cure overnight it works fine for me. The black uni mould gel coat doesn't work well with prepreg.

      @@CarbonWorkshops I see. I only do resin infusions but if possible I wanted to use epoxy gelcoats anyway to avoid the smell of polyester/vinylester stuff. Thanks for answering my questions

    That’s new to me.. backing the high temp epoxy with the unimould backing materials I guess it’s the black gel coat that made it not so compatible with the xpreg?

    • @CarbonWorkshops
      @CarbonWorkshops  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah technically they don't go together. But works good for me so far. The black gel coat for prepreg moulds always left me with pinholes in the parts produced
