The vacuum bags are food grade boil bags that i get from a friend. And sealed using a standard heat sealing machine.
Clear coat used is lechler macrofan hs 2000
These moulds have been made from tooling prepreg, very light and strong moulds. I will make a video soon showing how i made them.
For now want to see a more detailed video about a different mould check out this video -

Love the details and instructions on used materials in your videos. 😉
Pardon my French but... fakin' el, have I got to make the upgrade to prepreg! That looks so much faster, cleaner, easier, better than all of my infusions/ wet-layup/ shite I've done for the last ten years!! Well done 👏
It's definitely cleaner! But like anything does take a bit of learning and getting used to. But end results are always perfect.
Iv always done the chopped look or carbon cloth way with dry and adding the resin between. Never tried the pre preg stuff
Have you ever made carbon fiber pool cues?
bien le résultat
At 1:00, how did you make that "mold"?
So, if I am going to make a kayak, how do I make the mold that will be used to make the fiberglass/carbon fiber hull?
This mould is made from tooling prepreg.
For a large kayak, I would use gel coat backed with resin and chopstrand fibreglass. You can see this process in my other videos.
Amazing work as usual! What grit do you use before you clearcoat?
Thanks! I used 320 grit
@@CarbonWorkshops Do the scratches from that grit get completely hidden by the clearcoat? I use 400 but 320 would for sure have a better bite. Maybe I should try that too!
The bit on the trim cutter looks awesome. Who makes it? Killer bezels!
Not sure to be honest. It's just a dremel extension attachment. Should be easy to find.
Now that's a tidy set up. What did you use to fix them to the original part?
These were bond into position, so we used tiger seal.
@@CarbonWorkshops nice. I've seen a good bit of your work and it's absolutely class. 💯 % quality
@@NorthdownAngler thank you 🍻
Wow, your skills are incredible. How did learn to work with carbon fiber? I would like to learn to make things with this incredible material
I just trial and error. Costs a lot but eventually you stop making mistakes
Thank you! I learned through trial and error
Nice ,really nice mate, what's your temp and ramp rate for the oven?
It's the Xpreg standard cure cycle. About 4 hours at 70 deg and 1 hour at 120deg (been a while since I looked as it's programed in the oven)
Hi, what kind of fabric is this that glues itself and does not diverge into fibres?
Prepreg carbon fibre
What kind of carbon like that? I mean what a specific name carbon and where can i get it😊🙏🏻
Xpreg xc110
Where do u buy your materials?
Easy composites
It's nice to see real carbon fibre for a change everything just seems fake these days. I don't know how may times i have bought something labelled as carbon fibre only to find out after wasting my money it's just a fake hydrographic print or cheap vinyl wrap.
I'm fucking in love...i want these for my S6.. do u ahip to germany? 😄
Are they really strong
Yes very strong
How much did they weigh?
Original was 48g. Carbon was 23g
But you laminated on plastic, no? So no savings? Hate CF laminate. Will not hold up. In cold will crack under clear coating.
prepeg?
Yes
А Негода то не знает :)
