Yah, I’m on my 2nd UX here in Central Ontario. First was a 2021 FSport2 Silver/red, and now a 2024-same model & colour. I very rarely turn on the ASC. But I always run in Sport mode for better throttle/steering response (except in winter weather). Keep up the good videos!
I’m on my second UX and it is one of my favorite cars I’ve ever had. If you don’t need something too big, this is definitely a great option. amazing fuel economy, smooth and comfortable ride. Also obviously insanely reliable..
Lexus upgraded the UX continiously the last years, it is a small but extremly comfortable and well build car, fit and finish way better than ' premium' German rivals. And this car is build in Japan!!!!
I picked up my 2025 UX300h on Friday. I have driven less than 40 miles so far but I love it. My last car was almost 11 years old, so to me, the screen is huge & the picture is so clear. The interior noise level is much quieter than my almost 11 year old car. I go back for another lesson with my salesman in a few days. There is so much tech stuff to learn! The back seat has plenty of room but I think I actually had a passenger in my old back seat only once or twice in 11 years, so the space back there doesn't matter to me. It takes 87 octane gas too, and I bought my car a few thousand under MSRP. My car insurance which will be due in April of 2025 is not hugely more either- i checked my new insurance rate before I bought my new car, as usual. I will have 0 interest since I paid for my car at checkout.
I’m about to purchase my fifth Lexus. I custom ordered the UX when it first came out, getting every available feature in the US. Then COVID hit, and when the NX was redesigned, there was a year-long waiting list. I ended up buying out my lease for it, and I love it. It’s easy to park, nimble, and has a great weight ratio. It still runs on regular unleaded fuel, unlike most other Lexuses, except for the NX 250. I usually spend about $40 to fill the tank, which gets me around 320 miles. In Los Angeles traffic, I average 55 miles per gallon. I replaced the run-flat tires because they were so loud. I would get this car again just for the improved navigation screen. I’ve made some modifications since buying it, including lowering it, adding performance tires, and installing ambient lighting. However, I’m considering moving to the 2025 NX 450+, even though it’s almost $70k, which is wild. The plug-in finally has a panoramic roof. If the UX had a panoramic roof, better suspension, and improved 19” tires, I would buy it again.
I just bought the UX 300h F Sport Handling and it fits my solo-use, handling requirements, and personality. I've had 2 Mazda CX-5's back-to-back, similar to the Lexus NX you prefer, but I do NOT need or want the extra space, footbprint, or HP as my driving is 95%
I like the little pebble grain shifter and matching steering wheel. Love the Japanese production - the standard of Quality IMO. Getting used to my first non-plug hybrid - a fun learning experience for a 79 year old. Great Lexus quality - the Big L in a smaller, personal new gen electronic without the plug-in hastle which is totally impractical for us apartment people.
It’s not a bad car. I had it for a short term. Great for inner cities and stop and go but to me it’s not worth the price. Should be at least 10 to 12K cheaper.
I'm the sole occupant and it's perfect sized for me. Like my former Mazda3's. Japan built, plush interior. All the bells & whilstles, done up Lexus style. I'm liking my first hybrid non-plug-in as plug-in would be a pain at our 280 unit apartment complex, which only has 3 plug-in stations. Lexus was very smart in staying away from total EVs. Non-plug hybrids is the way to go. Reply
I look for performance in a sports car, or even a sporty sedan. But when it comes to a SUV/CUV, fast acceleration and razor sharp handling (the handling is really good, actually) are not what I want or need. To me, it's a daily driver/commuter car. MPG and comfort for one, or two people is what l desire. Our 2020 UX is perfect at what we bought it for. If l want speed and handling, I'll get a Mustang GT for the same price. But that's not the mission l need every day. The only things we have in the back seat are cobwebs.
Actually kirk, as someone who works for lexus, on some models, when in apple carplay, there is a dedicated bar to access the cars features really easily and quick. Idk if it was an update or new software but it’s there. And if you don’t want the bar there, you can expand the apple carplay screen to full size. I’ve seen it available on all screens whether it’s the smaller base screens or the bigger ones.
Well if you work for Lexus explain those Shit LED headlights that cut off at only 80 feet when on low setting...and this is an issue on most of the 2024 models as well.
47k is definitely too much for this vehicle. I picked up a CPO 2023 UX 250h premium for my wife last year. It has 11k miles and I paid 34k. She loves it!
It’s unbelievable that a luxury SUV still doesn’t have a 360-degree camera after six years. Parking is going to be a nightmare. It seems like all the focus has been on aesthetics rather than functionality.
@@ilyarepin7750 You’re completely stupid. I said the Lexus UX claims to be a luxury SUV but doesn’t even have a 360° camera. Then you turn around and imply I’m a bad driver just because I want that feature?
For $40,000, even if you can't get a Prius or Prius Prime, you can get a fully loaded Camry or RAV4 Hybrid. I understanding wanting the Lexus badge and dealer experience, but I think the UX has too many compromises for it's price. I think the average buyer would be way more satisfied with a 2025 XLE Camry or RAV4 Limited Hybrid over the long term, as they would be able to "grow" into the vehicle. One lifestyle change with UX, and they will be back at the dealer in a year or two to get an NX or RX. The UX, in my opinion, is for a very specific buyer: They make good money but live in a very dense city where parking is scarce, but they REALLY want something nicer that is still manageable/small in footprint.
You hit the nail on the head with the last part of your comment. We have the new Prius Prime and despite the fancy gadgets, I prefer the 2019 UX. The Prius is noisy on long drives and harder to get in and out of. The Prius stinks of plastic and the ventilated seats (also plastic) don't work so well, as Kirk stated. Sweaty butt syndrome. The Prius is a tighter drive than the 2019 UX, and the torque is fun too. I don't think the UX is compromised - I think it is built for a specific market group, with specific needs. For that group, it is perfect.
I took all of them out for test drives (as well as the CR-V since I am currently a Honda owner) - I found the Lexus to be way more comfortable, it drove better, handled better, and just had a premium feel, way moreso than even the highest spec'd Toyotas...
I have a 2019 f-sport UX 250h and I pretty much agree with your whole review. But I will say that the new ones have removed the volume nob that was at the tip of the center console. That is HANDS DOWN my favorite feature in the car. It was perfectly placed. I wish they incorporated it in the rest of the Lexus line-up
Bought the 2024 UX 250h last year which was an upgrade from a Mazda CX-30. So far, I prefer the fuel economy and similar engine performance, but I miss some things from the Mazda such as having the doors lock automatically when I'm out of range and BSM sound alerts. As for problems I've experienced so far, sometimes the traction control light turns on when I hit a pothole and the audio skips or drops with Android Auto. The ventilated seats aren't that great either. Compared to the 2025 model, I prefer the traditional gear shift.
sorry man, thumbs down, u left it in eco mode because of the fake engine sound and didn't realize you can turn it off! Also there's a lot of other higher end sports cars that have that silly sound as well, so shouldn't knock the UX for that. I do agree, get rid of that ASC all together and put something useful in it's place.
47k for a UX? Did all the lexus/toyotas CEO's go broke and need money quick. Holy crap what they are pullling with msrp's through the roof is insane. I would never buy one again after seeing what they think of their customers.

If they put the Dash from the 2025 UX, Door handle & Turn signal, F-sport Steering Wheel from the ES, Wireless Charging, the latest User Interface and rear passenger charging ports, LED rear turn signals all implemented into the IS lineup without changing the exterior than that would be a great improvement.
which is why im going for the ux, has all the latest and greatest features, safety3.0, regular fuel, great MPG, hybrid (non plug-in) The only thing missing is the HP, sporty handling and looks.
For 47 you should absolutely get the NX instead...no question. Esp when you can get the Hybrid NX for that cost or even a slightly older NX Luxury version for less.
The low MSRP is probably what will help the UX cars sell out. Smart move by Toyota. Other than that, it’s still such a small increase in power, that its performance aspect is basically the same.
Not if you slam the door - the 2023 Prius we own sounds like a tin can, compared to our UX. The Prius warning tones sound like Super Mario vid games, and the horn sounds like a clown car. Comfort and ride are totally different too.
Everything you would want to have only available on the F Sport makes it easy to pass on this car. Too many things missing at this price. This is a Corolla cross hybrid for 15k more.
We have 0W-8 engine oil now? Often see 0W-20 and 5W-30 nowadays, and sometimes 0W-16. I assume we would see 0W-4 and 0W-2 very soon? Guess you have to pay premium price for the 0W-8 since it is not as commonly used across different ICE brands and platforms.
The bar on the infotainment is available with the latest version of the infotainment software for CarPlay, but not for Android Auto. Not sure if it's a limitation for Android Auto or they haven't gotten to it or not.
Kirk, I believe the UX is the most expensive model built on the TNGA-C platform. From the day the UX made its debut, I have been calling for a premium powertrain to match the premium price. Borrowing a powertrain from the Corolla Cross and Prius is not sufficient. In the future, it would be nice if Lexus borrowed the extended wheelbase from the Prius (108.3" vs 103.9") to add some desperately needed rear legroom. In short (pun intended) the UX comes nowhere near justifying its ridiculously inflated price. 🤨 Now that we have seen how long the TNGA-C platform can be stretched, I call upon Toyota to build EVERY TNGA-C model with enough space to comfortably accommodate adult rear seat passengers!!
If the UX gets the Prius wheelbase I will never replace my 2019 UX. The 2023 Prius (which we also own) is a pain to park in European garages. The UX is a dream.
I never believe in buying small luxury vehicles unless its a sports car. Every brand makes them cheap and charge a premium so people who can't afford the brand can own the brand. It's always just a money grab. The car sounds like you're playing a video game, but you can actually die if you crash lol.
What a ridiculous take. For the price you get a great crossover hybrid. It’s better than many others, especially if you buy slightly used. Not everyone wants a more expensive or bigger car. The people complaining about size must have missed the entire point of the car which is that it’s a crossover, not an suv. The size is perfectly fine for some people.
Aside from the RZ, the UX is the worst Lexus on sale. It's glaring weaknesses are easy to fix in the next gen though, which I think is badly needed. Just give it interior packaging akin to the BMW X1 or Volvo XC40 and offer the Prius Prime's powertrain. Make eAWD standard too.
UX is just too expensive for what it is. I suspect it exists to draw younger customers into the dealership with a lower baseprice the shopper thinks they can afford. The dealer then pushes the buyer into a NX250 instead. Lexus never intended to sell a bunch of these.
can't even get heated seats on a base UX... although, no heated seats on base Prius/Prime either... Why does Toyota have heated seats available on Camry LE, but not on base Prius or UX?
@@seanh2390 that may be true, but still not as good as Japan. granted, it's not as bad as BMW and Audi building cars in Mexico. bottom line, it's not a real Lexus unless it's built in Japan.
I've owned two Lexus' and had a UXh as a loaner for an afternoon. There is nothing I hate more than fake engine sounds. I don't know what Lexus was smoking when they came up with the idea. I actually liked the UXh, fabulous city car, super efficient. But fake engine noise that can't be turned off would be a deal breaker. Fake engine noise is the opposite of luxury.
For 10k less I’ll take a Camry w the v6. A lot more fun, more power, good mpg, more room, and a lot more luxurious and refined inside. Oh and a huge pano roof
Size-wise, the Corolla Cross is the closest for comparison. If the Cross had the Lexus luxury touches then it would certainly justify the price. The Lexus UX, as it is, is just too compromised to justify the price
@@naveenthemachine Thanks for your reply. Although my question was more rhetorical, I looked at your suggestions and the only one that appealed was the Mazda. I will have to look at it (or the MX-30) and test-drive it. Honestly, I will first look at a new car when the UX is reengineered in 2 years, to do a fair comparison. We have taken two 1200 km trips recently, and are still convinced by the UX comfort, ease of parking - which is a real problem in Europe, dependability, and also how we are treated by the Dealer/Service. I guess for us it really comes down to a subjective preference.

its a new day. And that means another Toyota brand vehicle vid.
Don't think the UX is a good buy, I think they need to take about $10,000 off of that price.
IMO, the UX300 F sport AWD should be $33,000 USD LOADED!
Cool 😎 video 😎😀
Time to upgrade your prius, Kirk!
A Toyota Prius all the way and have 12,000 in Chains
Aside from the RZ, the UX is the worst Lexus on sale. It's glaring weaknesses are easy to fix in the next gen though, which I think is badly needed. Just give it interior packaging akin to the BMW X1 or Volvo XC40 and offer the Prius Prime's powertrain. Make eAWD standard too.
Way too expensive for the performance and handling on offer with the UX, even with the 300h.
The fake sound is actually ridiculous
NX350h is AWD-only... too bad no FWD hybrid option on NX, like the UX...
Also, too bad that most NX's are made in Canada, not Japan like the UX.
the lexus plants in cambridge ontario produce awesome cars
@@seanh2390 that may be true, but still not as good as Japan.
granted, it's not as bad as BMW and Audi building cars in Mexico.
bottom line, it's not a real Lexus unless it's built in Japan.
后备箱太小了
I've owned two Lexus' and had a UXh as a loaner for an afternoon. There is nothing I hate more than fake engine sounds. I don't know what Lexus was smoking when they came up with the idea. I actually liked the UXh, fabulous city car, super efficient. But fake engine noise that can't be turned off would be a deal breaker. Fake engine noise is the opposite of luxury.
It can be turned off very easily. Not sure why he railed against it for so long
He didn’t realize there is a dedicated on/off button for that fake sound
for that money .., I’ll have the Prime-RAV4 ( more fun, mpg, cargo& also made in Japan !! )
For 10k less I’ll take a Camry w the v6. A lot more fun, more power, good mpg, more room, and a lot more luxurious and refined inside. Oh and a huge pano roof
This car is way.... too... slow.
HEY
Not everybody wants a big car
Size-wise, the Corolla Cross is the closest for comparison. If the Cross had the Lexus luxury touches then it would certainly justify the price. The Lexus UX, as it is, is just too compromised to justify the price
Got ours UX200 for 33k in 2021. I still feel it's way overpriced.
This is not a review...driving for an hour...take it out at night and see the worst headlights ever
I love Lexus, but this is definitely their ugliest car. What are those wheel arch claddings? Yuck.
I gotta say. There is no reason to get this car.
Yeah. Used market maybe. A few years back it was a better buy with less competition.
@@KirkKreifels so what would you buy that has the same wheelbase, quality build, economy and guarantee?
@@arlenes8085Mazda cx30? Kia seltos? Hyundai Kona?
@@naveenthemachine Thanks for your reply. Although my question was more rhetorical, I looked at your suggestions and the only one that appealed was the Mazda. I will have to look at it (or the MX-30) and test-drive it. Honestly, I will first look at a new car when the UX is reengineered in 2 years, to do a fair comparison. We have taken two 1200 km trips recently, and are still convinced by the UX comfort, ease of parking - which is a real problem in Europe, dependability, and also how we are treated by the Dealer/Service. I guess for us it really comes down to a subjective preference.
I will stick with Corolla cross eat non hybrid under 25k
Why super bizarre
Is this a rebadged Corolla Cross?
It came out before the Corolla Cross. It does share platform and powertrain with CC.
@@KirkKreifels drove this and RX450h back to back, UX feels so underwhelming when compared.
More like a luxofied C-HR, with both having out-there styling and highly compromised interior packaging
My neighbor put them together, the cross is taller by far and looks like a suv, the ux looks very close to the corolla hatchback (VERY)
@@michaelsmith9308 thank you for the observation
Lexus is pursuing for-profit and money not perfection anymore
I absolutely hate that fake engine noise!! Takes away from the refinement
u can turn it off!
Thinking of getting the ES 300H, is it any good?
