I do love your hat! Also wondered if your yarn was doubled. Good idea to pair and acrylic with the fluffy yarn. It looks so cozy and more bulky. That bulky look looks better on me. Thank you!
I LOVE the idea of pairing an eyelash yarn with an acrylic. Genius! Especially since I am more of a newbie with wearables this sounds like the perfect way to use it for one. Thanks again for collabing with me Shannon!!!
I recently paired 2 different multicolor wool sock yarns with an off white acrylic yarn for a beret. I have worn and washed it (washed in cold, line dried), and it still looks cute and didn't shrink. So if using dissimilar yarns, go with the more conservative washing instructions, and your wearable should be fine in the wash
I make 25-35 hats for charity and your pattern is the only one I use. I used to try and make different patterns, but I like yours the best. Now I can enhance them with that eyelash yarn that has been hanging around for years! Thanks for the idea.
I have two Caron Cloud Cakes that have been sitting here for a while and I didn't know what to do with them. I bought them because they're just so soft in the cakes, but the texture is new to me and I find them hard to work with. I thought I was crazy because the reviews I've found have been overwhelmingly positive, and it seemed like I was the only one who didn't like them. I was thinking about giving them away to someone in my local crochet group, but this video came out just in time. I tried pairing it with my favorite milk cotton yarn that's sold here in Korea, and I was shocked to find that it's so much easier to work with! I'm making a cardigan now. You saved this yarn for me, Shannon! Thank you so much!
Glad I could help! And I do agree with you, the cloud cakes are kind of odd. They are soft for sure but the texture is strange. I thought it had a microfiber feel to it as well.
Thanks for the video. I’ll keep an eye out for that plush yarn. I’m with you on amigurumi. I think I would have loved it when I was in my 20s or 30s. But now in my 60s I’m getting rid of unnecessary things and my kids are too big for toys.
Yep, I can appreciate the effort and how adorable Ami is, but I 💯 agree with you, it is unnecessary at this time for me 🤷🏻♀️ But definitely check out the yarn if you get a chance, I really like working with it! Great yarn for the dollar tree
I love your hat and really love that plum cardigan poncho. I really don’t know what it is, but it’s beautiful. That is behind you. I would love to have that pattern thank you. I watched you a long time last night on TH-cam on my TV and then I found it this morning on my phone. I don’t know if you get anything for my likes on the TV or not but I did like you so thank you so much
I looove roving yarn because of the e stitch definition. I just find the ones I’ve used need a very gentle touch as washing and wearing can lead to it linting quicker, at least the ones I’ve used. But I think it’s so pretty.
This video is great. I am currently working on a top down sweater with Just Yarn from Dollar Tree. It will pill quickly but I still like it. Love your videos!
Oddly enough i have been working an entire cardigan in the big twist mustard color you showed. I've only got 12 rows left and I'm done. I use the really soft clingy type eyelash yarn to make Swiffer covers for dusting. It works great.
That’s awesome! I knew I couldn’t be the only one who loves mustard color lol!!! That’s a really great idea about the dusting too! I can see where this yarn would be perfect since it’s got that “microfibery” feel to it!
I'd love to see an episode on how to work with the "naughty yarns." I love Hobbii yarn and order from them all the time. They are affordable and great to work with. I use their Diablo yarn (acrylic) instead of mohair. I love your hat. It looks super luxurious.
Thank you for another wonderful and helpful video 📹 ❤️ My sister in law sent me some beautiful yarns (eyelash yarns were part of this) and i had no idea what to do with them or even how to work with them since i am an acrylic yarns girl, myself. Your tip of pairing the yarns together is amazing. I ❤️ love your channel and i also ❤️ love Rachel from the Faded Wildflower. Both of you, ladies, are exceptionally talented. Thanks again for another wonderful video 📹 ❤️
You’re very welcome and thank you as well! I’m glad I can help you find a way to you those yarns she sent you! I really like using them this way. I had fun with this collab, Rachel is so amazing!!!
Fun collab! I am happy my youtube crochet mentors are friends. XD I would love a video about working with velvet yarn, especially for wearables. I have a lot of worsted and bulky velvet and want to use it up.
I combine yarns like this all the time! The possible effects are endless and sturdy! I just crocheted a prayer shawl with size 6 yarn alternated with rows of combinations of acrylic 3 or 4 weight held with strands of various novelty yarns to equal the 6 weight. It was great fun, looks gorgeous, all has the same washing instructions, toasty warm, and greatly reduced my earth tones novelty stash. I spent nothing! It’s a gift so it works with my yarn in/yarn out policy. Loom knitting is particularly fast and easy with novelty/acrylic 4 combos.
Thank you! If you get a chance, definitely dive this yarn a try, it’s especially nice for the dollar tree! And thank you for watching and commenting! 🫶🏻
@ want to hear something funny? Someone gave me a big bag of acrylic yarn that I won’t use for myself so I’m making a number of boggy creek blankets (though I have no idea how I can afford to ship it). Anyway, for some unknown reason I feel compelled to keep making these to use up that yarn even though my friend is still waiting for her beret plus the other projects waiting for me; what’s up with that?!
Hobby lobby has a great eyelash yarn. Use it to make amigurumi and I am able to frog easily and can see my stitches. I don't think you would need to pair it with another yarn
Omg I wish I knew!! It always seems so random! I’m not sure which ones you’re searching for but the Premier websight has several of the yarns sold at dollar tree on sale right now!
I just gave away a whole bag of eyelash yarn...I just could see my stitches. It never occurred to me to hold it with something else. Sheesh. Thanks for the tip.
I just wish ALL Dollar Tree carried yarn. I have 2 stores 25 miles apart, but worth the drive. I love the premier yarns at Dollar Tree. Not a fan of Crafters yarn.
Omg!!! I know!!! All DT’s are NOT created equal. Mine is usually pretty good about keeping yarn stocked but I’ve been in others with none! And I’m with you, I’m not a fan of the crafters line.
Great tip. I’ve been pairing yarns and this helps tremendously when wanting/needing perfect stitch definition. I love your hat.

You are so welcome! We will have to do it again! 😃

That is awesome Barbara! I’m glad you’re having great results with the pattern and I’m glad you can use up the eyelash yarn in your stash too!!
I HAD TO STOP AND ASK IF YOU HAVE A TUTORIAL FOR YOUR ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS HAT.....LOVE COLOR AND STYLE.YIU LOOK SOOOOO CHIC❤
Nice job!! Fun and positive!!
Thanks so much!

Thank you Bridget!

Thank so much !!
@ Thank so Much. ! I really appreciate!
Love this video and idea.
Glad you liked it!!
Id love to see how you use roving yarns. I recently found a acrylic roving and haven’t been sure what exactly the purpose of it is
That’s a great suggestion, I’ll add it to the list! Thank you 😊

I used the red eyelash yarn held with value acrylic to make a beautiful Santa hat for my hubby..
Oooh that’s a great idea!!! I love that 🤶🏼

I love your hat. So plush! I definitely want to try that hack . I do like Big Twist. It’s soft and so nice to work with.
Hi Vicki!! You should totally try pairing them together, I’m loving how it turns out! 😃
I have been collecting this yarn because I love to trim my Mobius cowl/hoods with it. I now have a Santa sack over stuffed. Yay!
That’s a great use for it, I love that. Seems like a high end detail!
Fun collab! I am happy my youtube crochet mentors are friends. XD

I like your candy corn shawl. Very unique. I've never seen that fluffy yarn. I enjoyed this video. 😊❤
Thank you! If you get a chance, definitely dive this yarn a try, it’s especially nice for the dollar tree! And thank you for watching and commenting! 🫶🏻
Great ideas as I have lots of Caron latte cakes ❣️🥰
That can be a tricky yarn too! It’s so soft!

If you can show how you use the odd yarns that works for me
Thank you for the discussion of eyelash yarn!❤
You’re very welcome!
ooooh. can't wait to make that hat. THANKS!!!
YW!
Awesome use of acrylic and novelty! Simple stitches that look so special. ❤
Thank you! 😊
I love your beanie with the eyelash yarn! Bravo 👏
Thank you Cathy!!!
I love just yarn products and use them a lot.
Me too Sonja!
What a great idea! Your beanie is gorgeous 😍
Thank you! 😊
Back in the day, I paired eyelash yarn with reg yarn and made beautiful scarves
I think a scarf will be my next eyelash yarn project! I’m glad to hear you’ve had good results!
I would love to see video/tutorials from you!
Hobby lobby has a great eyelash yarn. Use it to make amigurumi and I am able to frog easily and can see my stitches. I don't think you would need to pair it with another yarn
I’ll have to check them out!
of course i checked my $tree out of stock but i'll keep checking for it!
Keep looking!
love ur beanie so cute on u
Thank you!
When does DT restock yarn for the year? I started a project and now, even with 6 stores local to me, even the leftover bits and bobs are disappearing.
Omg I wish I knew!! It always seems so random! I’m not sure which ones you’re searching for but the Premier websight has several of the yarns sold at dollar tree on sale right now!

NOT see my stitches....
Oh no!!! Bad timing on my part, I wish I got this out earlier!!! 😀
I think Big Twist is Waaaay softer than Red Heart. AND, I think Premier Basix is even softer and has 73 color ways.
Right!?!?!? I need to try premiere basics! I should probably order now when on sale!
@@ShannonTalksYarnat Premier website it’s $3 for 359 yards right now. Normally 3.99.
