People seriously sleep on japanese artists. They have some of the best musicians I’ve ever heard. Seems like even on poppier and ”simpler” songs the guys and gals give it their 101% and outplay many western artists.

I like your reasoning of "I don't check the meaning of the lyrics" not out of laziness, but because your comfort(?) or specialty(?) is extracting feeling from the singing itself. 0u0 I've never watched you before, but hearing you really going hard, imitating Ado's singing voice and describing so well what she's doing (more than once because it takes me a few go arounds before I comprehend sometimes lol) was really fun instead of just saying a bunch of words a casual fan of singing (that's me! lol) might noe understand. lol Keep it up!

I know there are good singers to react but I'd like to watch your reaction of the musics of Chougakusei.
He is one of 歌い手(utaiーte) that means singers who cover existing songs, mainly active on the Internet. Ado was also 歌い手 but now we don't think she is one of them becouse her activities are diverse.

I think one of the unique things about the Japanese language is that it is a tonal language with a writing system then say English which is a writing system with a tonal language after. I think that it allows the people who sing in it to do some unique shifts in how they sing because of how broken by tone the words of the language is. Thanks for reacting to all these songs by Ado, it helped me appreciate her ability more.

    • @sunny_capriccio564
      @sunny_capriccio564 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

Japanese is not actually a tonal language, sorry. There is something known as pitch accent that can subtly change pitch elevation patterns according to regional accents and occasionally helps differentiate homonyms, but the language itself isn’t tonal (word meaning doesn’t depend on pitch). Compared to English even, Japanese is very flat and consistent. You may be thinking of Mandarin and other Chinese languages, which are tonal and use the same character system!

i love how you deep dive into vocals, how you get so specific and the focus on character and personality in your voice
with regards to that moment in the chorus you pointed out, how when she flicks up, she changes it slightly? that might be because of the changing vowels. the first time she says "kami ppoi na", flicking up on "mi". the third time it changes to "are ppoi na", flicking up on the "re". i sounds are easier to get high arent they? so even though the e would be the same pitch, it doesnt sound as hiccuppy, especially because the lyrics are so fast. love your insight!

Saw a lot of reactions, from metal vocalist, vocalist coachs and such, but none of them explain it from a point of view of technical/technicallity (sorry english isn't my main language), to use other words, your reaction have what others have and like with the vocalist coach you go into explaining the way, but you go more deep in your explanation and even you use your voice to use it as an example of the technique.
For me, that's what it makes you unique. And i have to add my voice is a "broken voice" i like to sing but i have to modulate it to keep with the track that i like for example, but Ado normal voice is a "broken voice" too, and that gave me a lot of courage to be more talkative and don't blame my voice like when i was young... Shame she debut when i was already an adult haha, because it would have helped me a lot when i was a teenager or even when i was a young adult.

10:45 On the point you make with her "lazy" voice making that pitch bend down. The song lyrics here actually state "I'm falling asleep" (眠っちゃおよマジ, pronounced roughly as "nemucchao yo maji"). Just a fun little detail, I imagine Ado-san slumped over at the mic half asleep for that part, she really sells the song with her expressiveness (as with every song she sings lol).

Ado is amazing in contrasts but also subtle changes, that disney cinderella and kiss influence in childhood pairs so well

Love hearing about different styles of music interpreted through this more familiar lens of singing technique, it’s really interesting to hear how to use (for example) classical singing techniques in ways that aren’t typical of that genre

if someone told me that this song has 5 different vocalists i would 100% believe them, this shows you how wide her vocal range is.

Really enjoy Chris analyzing different vocalists, and the fact that such cool big man listening to this genre is soo cute, I love the contrast!

Have you ever listened to any Vtubers?
Like Ado, many of them are gifted singers, some with vocal training, some self taught, and by virtue of being a Vtuber, they don't generally reveal their real identities/looks, also like Ado.
    Personally I would recommend:
Hoshimachi Suisei's Stellar Stellar on The First Take
Tsunomaki Watame's My Song music video
    And
Nerissa Ravenscroft's Vampire (for which she wrote the English lyric translation herself!), or her cover of God-ish, as it's also incredibly good!
And that's just to start! There are tons of up and coming vocalists to check out in the Vtubing world! If I listed every one I wanted to here, this comment would probably be pages and pages long.

This is my first time watching your videos and you've earned an immediate subscription from how animated, enthusiastic and comprehensive your analysis is !!! It was such a joy watching your take on it !!! If you enjoy utaite singing with hella range, I recommend listening to the utaite Miyashita Yuu/宮下遊 (th-cam.com/channels/v7P8vbJW87IRWuOjTjarjQ.html)
    His top five tracks imo:
The Crawling Spirit - Cover by Miyashita Yuu
    そこにはまた迷宮 歌ってみた/宮下遊
    壊再 歌ってみた/宮下遊
    アナタサマ 歌ってみた/宮下遊
    御涙頂戴 - 宮下遊×てにをは (Official Video)
These are my personal favourites 😂:
    再生 - 宮下遊 × Somari(Official Video)
Kikuo (feat. Miyashita Yuu) - Histrionic

Please review Enna Alouette's cover of "God-ish". I think it takes a really different approach but still sounds really nice.

I managed to fix my pain by switching to using soft onsets instead of hard ones
The Waterparks Fandom Live in the UK album is great for hearing Awsten Knight's voice without vocal modulation
