So, long and short of it is that this is a cover of "God-ish" by PinocchioP. The original song was done with Hatsune Miku (a vocaloid). In the original song there's basically two vocalists, the original Miku pitch and a much lower pitch that is "behind" Miku's. There's numerous occasions where the lower tone is used with certain phrases (it's more audible). The idea of "God-ish" is that the vocalist of the song is "singing like a god", aka impossible by a human being due to not just the pace of the song, but also insane range (there's also the literal as there are two pitches being used at the same time through most of the song, but I digress).
What makes this cover absolutely insane is that Ado took it a dozen steps further, displaying a variety in timbres, pitches, and techniques. Although, Ado did have to do layering due to how difficult it would have been to do all of it in one take. However this was prior to her singing "Fleeting Lullaby" and even recently "SHOW" where she has shown much more experience when it comes to faster vocals and even performing numerous techniques in quick succession. I have more to say on the topic, but I'll wait until you react to both of those tracks at a later date.

    • @amphiapple7890
      @amphiapple7890 ปีที่แล้ว +159

That lower pitch behind Miku is actually PinnocchioP himself singing. It's pretty common to hear his voice coming in to harmonize with Miku during certain phrases.

Thanks for the reaction. You don't have to apologise for pausing - the reason we're here is to hear your thoughts and analysis! If I wanted to listen to the song I would just go listen to Ado's (or whichever singer's you're reacting to) song directly.
My current favourite Ado song right now is 'Show' which released 3 weeks ago - please check it out, I've been listening to it practically everyday!
As for this song God-ish, what I know of it is this is actually a cover. The original was created by PinocchioP (a music producer that utilises Vocaloid), so it was originally a song that was 'sung' by a voice synthesiser software. As for the meaning of the lyrics - I'm not good at lyric analyses so I can't say - maybe "gott ist tot" is a reference to Nietzsche, and what his work originally implied? Reading the translated lyrics to form your own understanding and theories may be better though.

Japanese didn't have a writing system till relatively recently in context to the culture, making it a phonetic language(spoken language), weareas English after all the vowel changes removing letters from the alphabet and over simplification has made it a written language/ no longer ment to be spoken

It also depends on where you are from as well. I'm from Assam, so for me, Japanese pronounciation is something I've always felt at home with since they are just that similar. Took to it like a fish to water, and reading romaji was the easiest thing ever too.
It might be a bit hard for ppl from languages with different pronunciations, but yeah, it's fairly simple so wouldn't take that much time to pick up regardless of where you're from too.

Many Japanese creative works-such as anime, music, and light novels-often feature German words or phrases. This may seem random, but it stems from historical connections, cultural admiration, and the language’s “magical” flair that enriches fictional worlds.
Japan began adopting German systems in the late 19th century, giving German a scholarly and refined image. Today, creators weave German terms into “European-style” settings that blend medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque elements. This combination forms idealized realms where knights and wizards coexist with arts and sciences borrowed from various eras.
A key appeal lies in German’s compound word system, which merges different concepts into a single term. This results in spell names or special attacks that sound imposing and arcane. For example, words like “Feuerball” (fireball) or “Blitzschlag” (lightning strike) convey immediate impact. German’s distinct consonants and rhythmic stress patterns also lend themselves to ritualistic chanting, making spells or incantations feel more powerful.
Moreover, German has a historical backdrop of mysticism and scholarly pursuits, from medieval alchemy to religious reformations. Referencing these themes can evoke an atmosphere of secret knowledge and long-forgotten lore-a perfect fit for imaginative storytelling.
In short, Japanese creators use German not only for its foreign mystique, but also for its capacity to suggest depth and grandeur. By pairing its compound words and strong phonetics with romanticized European imagery, they craft fictional universes that feel both familiar and enchanting to their audience.

Hello! Please excuse my bad english :( english isn't my first language so please feel free to correct my grammar :) This video is very informative for me because I want to learn how to sing just like Ado.
Ado's video is actually a cover of PinocchioP's vocaloid song 神っぽいな or "God-ish". The song has no confirmed meaning by the producer but in the description and in the vocaloid wikifandom page of the song, 神/kami/god has nothing to do with the religious context despite the girl (or Miku) dressed up as a nun. In Japan, kami is a slang used to express or to describe someone who is amazing or "god-like". っぽい means "~ish" or "~like". The song in the original is kinda sung in a way that is satirical making the person singing the song seem like they're tired of everyone but plays along by using satire to fulfill their ego or just to criticise them. As for the "Gott ist tot" part, it's a quote from a German philosopher Nietzsche which is one of the references that inspired God-ish.
This is a really great video! I recommend you to react to Show and Ado's Darling Dance cover ^_^

Honestly, it's not even just music artists that love German for some reason on Japan. You see it a lot in anime too, especially in relation to certain past political parties. Sometimes it's even somewhat glorified. It's a really weird obsession that I think just comes down to having vaguely similar histories in some regards.

About singing in Japanese, there’s a script in Japanese called Romaji (which isn’t used in normal Japanese)
but in short, it’s Japanese but written in Roman/Latin letters
If you search “God-ish by Pinnochio-P - Romaji Lyrics” You should be able to find it in youtube or Fandom or somewhere
(Also I found in the video it might have just been the way you phrased it, it sounded like you thought it was the original but this song is a cover, it’s not the original!)

I'm not sure how bad of an idea it would be with regards to the algorithm, but one video concept I think would be interesting might be to pick a popular song (like God-ish, but anything vocaloid or popular anime openings is bound to work too), and compare how a bunch of different artists cover it (including Ado, but maybe some others like vtubers or cover artists like Raon Lee). You might have some interesting insights about techniques someone might use that someone else doesn't, see how they adapt it to fit their register, etc.

There's also a highly talented singer with some covers and original materials called CielA, I think you may like her too.

Little late the comment but today I found a live video of Ado on TH-cam titled "love ka?" from the Campanella live show at Saitama Super Arena. It is a vocal insanity too. This woman just cast a spell over me. 😉

Can you do a reaction to Ado's cover of Darling Dance? I recommend reacting to the raw version because somehow it just shows more of her vocal texture and personality.

Please react to "Tokyo Canibalism" by Ado, I think this is a really underated song of ADO. I just discover your chanel today and I love it. I hope you will see my comment. Greetings from Mexico!!!

SUGGESTION: young Brazilian talent, Gabriel Henrique, self-taught, but sang in church since he was little. She does beautiful covers of the divas - Whitney, Mariah, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Adele..., with great command of vocal techniques, and also whistle and melismas on the whistle, lol. He has a TH-cam channel.

It's more past historical ties that is the reason a lot of artists are so drawn to German. Even infrastructurally half of Japan is on the German European electrical styled grid and the other half is American.

At least all of Ado's Film Red songs are translated to English in a way that you can sing along. Her other original songs usually have English subtitles, but they're more literal translations.

She "chose" to use German here because it's in the original song. It's not HER song, it's by an artist known as PinocchioP. Look up Non-Breath Oblige if you want a bit of a singing exercise.

I'm pretty sure Ado used German because the sentence itself (Gott ist tot) is most probably a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche's "Die fröhliche Wissenschaft" (The joyful science)

When talk about German in Japanese song, I will recall two songs immediately.
    SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:mizuki - aLIEz / THE FIRST TAKE
    @The_FirstTake
    Bios
    @SawanoHiroyukiSMEJ
    Lyrics: Rie
    Vocal: Mika Kobayashi
Additional voice and Backing vocal: mpi
    Backing vocal: yassh!!
    The lyrics:
Die ruinenstadt ist immer noch schön
Ich warte lange zeit auf deine rückkehr
    In der hand ein vergissmeinnicht
It might be just like a bird in the cage
How could i reach to your heart?
I need you to be stronger than anyone
I release my soul so you can feel my song
It could be the whole of the problem, change your body
I need you to be stronger than anyone
I release my soul so you feel my breath
    Feel my move

6:09 Ado very seldom does layering. And even then, I feel like she's only doing layering for the most extreme jumps. There isn't any overlap between the smaller jumps, and using different takes for the more extreme jumps is understandable.
11:08 You could say it's... God-ish. I mean, the whole idea of the song is to be near impossible to sing.
