This technique/ strategy is refreshing!! As a middle age woman who keeps the health of my joints in the forefront of my mind, but also wants to stay strong I can not wait to incorporate this technique into my training. Amazing how you guys always come up with new and practical ways to improve the health and fitness of your listeners. Thanks you!

38:30. I call BS on this. People often do point out their ancestry and/or heritage, but they call themselves American. USA is a melting pot.
By the way, they do it in Australia too. I’ve met “Italian Australians”

I love doing this with squats. I visually picture the muscles stretching and squeezing doing slow eccentrics squating 135 lbs on the barbell (my max is over 300) and I have experienced awesome results from that

I am applaying that tecnique in second phase of my training. Tempo is 4 second eccentric 2 second concetric & squeeze & pause in stretch position. I do this in 9 to 12 rep range. Rest periods are 2 minutes between sets and i do this for 4 weeks and than i switch to other technique, rep range.

So, I am hoping I can really win the MAPS strong to gift to my husband. He has been lifting for 5 years or so and has reached a plateau. I feel like your strong program could really help him. 🙏

Of course using heavier weights as well as overcoming isometric holds and regular isometric holds will recruit lots and lots of muscle fibers, you can still get the same effect from using lighter weights with more excruciating intentionality, as if you were trying to do overcoming isometrics

It's funny that this posted today. At the gym after my working sets on incline bench, I purposely made 135 feel as hard as possible.
I normally do a controlled three sec eccentric with a one second pause. But I purposely did 5 sec extra slow eccentrics and two sec pauses on every rep. By the time I finished the set of 10 reps, 135 felt like 225. 😂

I found out I have herniated discs L2-S1, mild bilateral lateral stenosis two vertebrae in lumbar and moderate bilateral lateral stenosis in two vertebra. Foramen have stenosis in two places and two discs are dessicated. Sadly my deadlift days are over. Lifting real heavy is over for me, which is very depressing

Really enjoy your podcasts. I have been consistently weight training for over 20 years now. Rejuvenating my schedules with your training programs and diet advice has given my results a second wind. Consistently tracking my diet and working through anabolic, then aesthetic and now symmetry I have put on over 10 lbs of lean mass. I have to say though, it was not until symmetry that I felt like I really applied this mindset of making weights feel heavy to all my sets and exercises. I honestly attribute my results through symmetry to this mindset. Just purchased Split and excited to kick that off in 2 weeks (after finishing symmetry). It looks like it may kick me into walking the line of overtraining but really want to give the split routine mindset another try since it’s been almost a year since running my own split program. Any advice on making sure I don’t burn myself out on a 6 day routine? My first thought is to boost my daily calorie intake as a start to make sure I keep up with recovery.

Long time listener here. Love the show.
But, for Gods sake, please do more of a responsible dive into the topics you cover, especially when it comes to "Islamic" or Muslim issues. It seems Islam is brought up often along with the typical, American exceptionalist tropes (I was born and raised here). You guys as believers in God and acknowledging Christianity would do your selves a diservice not actually getting facts strait on Islam, and Islamic and Muslim history.
Hamtram is the only Muslim Majority city in the U.S. very densley populated. If your all for democracy, than why is it an issue when there is a majority vote for something the people want? Especially considering when Michigan led a movement to vote over 100,000 votes as 'uncomitted', showing what the majority want and pride themselves on (pun not intended). What also led to this banning is the shoving of all the explicit and very inappropriate sexual content being snuck in, and at times enforced to the children in Michigan. A big uproar was done by the Muslims there, and was actually uploaded by many non Muslims, including christians. Maybe you missed that.
Lastly, the whole thing about Palestine, again, is a silly and old and outdated trope and exaggeration. Not to mention, it's a literally concentration camp. Or was, it now has been blown to bits. And by the way, christians and Christian churches were in Palestine. So when you speak of Palestine as 'the other', don't forget that place includes those of the faith and tradition you consider and acknowledge.
Asalamualaikum. Peace be upon all you guys, and gals, at Mindpump.

Having suffered through both mommy and daddy issues, i found it harder to recover and forgive the issues with my mom but I think that’s because I am a mom and I could never treat my children the way I was treated. However, I also think that those issues are what make me such a present, kind, reliable mom to my 5 kids and my issues with my dad made leaving my overall abuse x boyfriend for my daughter and helped me pick my husband and father of my sons.
