This may be a wild theory, but i think dante will one day become a playable character, and their ego will be wrath based, which kind of makes sense considering there are no wrath base egos, and Dante looks like the best candidate to have it since their main color is red and they are related to fire and "hell" in general

this is far from his true ego previous cases as ishmael or yisang, those were uses made out of resolve this is a usage out of wrath, out of hatred. look at the ui, midway through it turns into the corrosion ui, as well as the sin affinity becoming wrath this just proves heathcliff is sinking deeper into his issues, rather than confronting them like yi sang and ishmael
An insightful take, fortunately this is only part 2 of 3. Ishmael was still deep in her vengeful arc at the end of part 2 of hers as well, so hopefully we can snap heathcliff out of it in part 3.
Something I'd like to note is early in the chapter Heath says he learned a lesson from their last adventures and it was essentially that everyone would have his back, but more so in the "I can do dumb shit and not care about what I do as there can't be any consequences" way. This demonstrates at the start of the damned chapter that cliff doesn't actually want to confront his problems and just wants to literally use blunt force to solve them.

They then all proceed to do ten book series worth of rapidly slamming you with Catherine’s coffin, stuffing the targets inside the coffin, and then Every Catherine mindbreaks those inside while the Heathcliffs continue to slam the coffin. The side effect is that it targets everything and everyone even as a stable Overclock.
Heathcliff's EGO honestly might change affinity after this chapter, but IT WON'T BE WRATH. With the Sinking trend and the sheer depression and name of this season (Clear All Cathy), Bodysack might change into a Gloom EGO
If they change it could honestly be either, the other heathcliff was wrathful because he wished to avoid his depression by focusing his rage onto himself, if our heathcliff learns to let go and accept her death it might be gloom to show that he's greiving about it but trying to move forward unlike other heathcliff
I'd rather just have a secondary base ego for cliff being his "realized" ego or whatnot. Using the power of the id machine I don't see how cliff using either his base or realized base on two separate occasions post chap 6. After all, ids are taken from either 3 years ahead of behind the current timeline, as should be evident with dead rabbit meursault's uptie story. Because of this, it should be possible for both old (by post chap 6) base ego and realized base ego for cliff to be used in combat (not at the same time but selected pre battle).
With this Ishmael's boat harpoon throw, and yisang's winged version of his ego. I really hope we one day unlock a sort of over clocked version of the base egos

The Ring was fucking around with their Leviathan device, so a reasonable assumption is they nabbed someone(perhaps Isabella as others pointed) and applied the Heathcliff ID on them. Him impersonating Matthew has nothing to do with the Identity talk, and it was literally just him copying the mannerisms of someone he knew well.
