Using the knowledge in this video I recently got a score of nearly 5,000 coins! The video of that match should be uploaded soon. And like I said in this video, I'm going to be making a great video showing the optimal coin route for every single level in the game! Subscribe so you don't miss them 👀
Kosmic has a galaxy-sized brain. By showing everyone how to get the most coins, it means he'll start getting more coins than ever when he curbstomps everyone! :O
This is true. I'd consider myself a second-tier player at this game. I'm good enough to win about 1/5 of the time at this point, but I expect that to go down as time goes on. I'm really impressed with the mastery with which top tier players move through the levels, even when being swarmed with dozens of enemies.
Something else you could consider is trying to get a lot of people attacking you early game. If you switch between random and attackers really fast, you can get anywhere from 5 to 15 people attacking you. IF YOU’RE GOOD, you can get a whole bunch of kills while collecting coins to steal other people’s coins as well. It can be very tricky though, and it is very risky. More enemies is a good thing if you don’t die, because that can mean more kills. You’ll have to tone it down eventually though.
one of the tactics i use is going to 1-1 with a mushroom and not getting any kills to get the lowest time possible and then grab the star, its not great for coins but i got like 5 kills in one match with it!
Hey @Kosmic, a strat to try. Target the player with the LOWEST TIME. I was wondering what the point of that target mode is because you'll just them stuff to boost their time, but it seems a valid option for making the game go as long as possible with a handful of good players. Good luck!
yeah I forgot to mention it in this vid. I was going to say "Food for thought: Targetting lowest time can send them enemies to keep them alive. Targetting most coins might make them use the roulette and waste coins."
Like you said, while there are a couple of proactive steps you can take, it's about 5% skill and 95% luck that determines your end coin score. Personally, I never understood why anyone would buy powerups at the start considering how easy they are to come by in the early game, so not getting the Small Mario bonus is pretty inexcusable.
I did it while unlocking my last courses, just to don't waste time to get mush and flower. Just speed through 1-1 and warp as far as you can to reach your desired courses.
You're amazing, Kosmic! This video shall help everyone get that "S" Rank... I got a "S" in regular 35-Mario and now I'm going for the special battle version... I'm at "A" and getting close.
Just wanted to say I used the tips from this guide and raised my PB from like 1900 to 3352, still nowhere near your score but a massive improvement! Thanks!
One thing I really like about your channel is that you could totally use it as a vehicle to show off (and people would still be into it). But you don't. There are many times where you could be like, "Hey everyone, look how awesome I am at this game!" but more often than not you're like, "I wanna make some tutorial videos to show people how to be really good at this game" instead. And I think that's really cool.
I like these vids on 35, definitely do a walk through of each level! I think this is the first time I'm good enough to reach 1st in a battle Royale often lmao
Hey kosmic, thanks for making these videos. I already enjoy just watching you play really well on Twitch but it's really cool when you do these research-oriented videos. I'm ALL for you branching out into stuff like this and thanks for putting in the work.
Wow, the Small Mario bonus is almost TOO generous, considering how easy it is to get yourself powered up at the very beginning, specially if you start on either 1-1 or 1-2.
I won my first match today. In other matches, crazy stuff was going on in top 5, but in this match, I didn't even realize I made it to top 10 (I play with audio off).
Smoked Kabob He explained it in how to unlock levels. Basically, the game puts everybody’s chosen level in a list. For 1-2 the flag takes you one level ahead in the list(like normal), the right-most warp zone pipe(the world 2 pipe) takes you 2 levels ahead, middle gives 3, left gives 4. For the 4-2, flag=1, world 5 warp=2, world 6 warp=3, world 7 warp=4, world 8 warp=5.
He got an explanation on the "how to win" video, the short answer is this, yes, the list is random based on the levels all choose, +1 at the normal end, +2,+3, and +4 if you used the warp zone,+another if there is a vine, coin heaven but is don't remember how it goes there. PD: could have been the "how to get a better score" video, I don't remember, sorry. Hope it helps.
Yeah I've been starting with a mushroom since 1-1 has the block at the beginning for fire flower. And I just ended a match with 1600 coins so double that would have been a very high score for me. Very glad I watched this video
Thanks for the insight with these videos, especially with the levels. (I had about a 30 W% and was still stuck on 3-4 for days LOL.) I have suggestion about what level to pick though. I'd say go for an "athletic" midgame level, ideally 4-3 (although 3-3 and 5-3 work too). The thought process is that it's deep enough in the game for players to have racked up coins already, BUT they can be suspectible to immediate death. This'll make the winner's chest bigger, as opposed to levels that'll encourage players to burn coins via roulette. Your one decision out of 35 won't change a whole lot, but it will make waves mid-to-late in the battle royale.
I usually believe that the chest coins are random on who they go to, for some people with plenty of coins... gives none when they go rip, even to pits or native to the level enemies (or time as well), meaning... that part is all up to luck practically, alongside the coins they grab to hopefully give to you... yep.
I do think I’m gonna start trying to get more coins than wins. I’ve been playing this game to win only, not necessarily win with most coins possible. I do love beating star level players at the end though, as I’ve only played long enough to get to rank 75. BTW, Kosmic, what controller are you using? NES online controller? Pro? SNES online controller?
Hey man, thanks for listing your outro music in description. Worst thing ever is hearing dope music and not being able to ever find them again. Shazam thought your outro was 70MPH by Sakunera...which it is very much not. Glad to be listening to the right one while I work now.
I wonder if the chest bonus is evenly distributed among surviving players when someone dies but is not koed? Could explain why the numbers feel odd sometimes
In the start I go after people who in the secret area in 1-1 because that's where the bad players will more likley go so they will be easy to overwhelm with enemies.
The Philosophie behind it is, the more people that are focusing about collecting Coins instead of sending enemies, the better it also turns out for Kosmic to get a higher Score in the end 😂😄
I need a video on not running out of time. I got so many second place finishes last night due to running out of time. I'll even be at 400 when the timer turns red, I keep jumping on enemies even, I just don't get it.
I managed to get my best last night, 2970 I think. Still used the roulette too many times but managed 1000+ in the bank from KOs. Nice to know what the "small mario bonus" actually is now.
I think the BEST people to target are the people with the lowest time. It will them more time to STAY in the game and FARM coins. Everything else you should AVOID. Targeting most coins might make them use the roulette wheel COSTING them to use 20 COINS! Targeting attackers is the WORST idea EVER if your going for a coin high score. If you watch Kosmic's video on how to win at Super Mario 35, you would know that attacking attackers is the only way to attack MORE then one person at a time. Alternatively, instead of targeting lowest time you can manually select who to attack. If your using your movement controls as your joystick, you can use the touch screen to tap whoever you want to target. If you using the movement controls as you D-pad you can use the joystick or the touch screen to manually select. When you manually select you should look for the person who has the LEAST coins though, targeting lowest time is your BEST option.
it might be a uncool thing to do but i can tell by what level i may get if i am going to die soon or not and if i have a good feeling i am going to lose i just spam my roulette box i figure if i am going to lose i may as well try and lower what ever whoever is going to win coin amount and if by me spamming my box i may get a low score but it might help me win in the end as well. i enjoy winning so even if my score ends up lower that is fine i been is grade S once during the first week i am fine with that being the only time
noticed that weird sparkle effect on one of the players at the start of this match. i wonder what it could indicate, seeing as you already have all the courses cleared.

I don't know why the scoring is so obfuscated like that when it would be simple to make it clear. I also wish there was less luck involved based on how many coins you end up with. It seems counter-intuitive that if you're at the end forcing someone to waste all of their coins by playing well you get rewarded less. You're relying on really good players making stupid mistakes while they have a lot of coins to get the best score, which doesn't make a lot of sense. There's SOME reward for KOing someone by getting all of their coins, but again, if they have a lot of coins to begin with, chances are they're hammering that roulette to get through it.
I played a 16 min game only playing 1-1 twice, and 4-2 once. Everything else was 1-2. How many coins do you think I could have gotten if I got all the coins I could? Not counting chest.
Can you start infinite 1 up trick with koopas on the stair structure before a goal post to rank up coins? Because green 1ups give you 20 coins each, and I was wondering if getting 1up from the infinite trick would give you 20 coins each aswell?
Just get a bunch of good players together and all do 1-2 in que. Keep testing your timing by starting the game at the same time and killing yourselves off at the very beginning as fast as possible to see how many people got in. Once you've got it down to at least half in a lobby, que in and go ham on collecting coins as efficiently as possible. Have a gentlemens agreement that no one will use coins no matter what so it's fair game for anyone to win. If you have enough people I'd say find the most efficient way to grab coins not just grabbing them all, If half the levels are 1-2 no need to milk each level for all it's worth. Once it gets down to the timer running out start using the trick to get as many attackers as possible to get as many enemies as possible for everyone to keep the game going as long as possible. No going to hard levels and getting bowsers/hammer bros etc..
9:44 Wait, when was this recorded? I played a match yesterday and I died the exact way that #5 died on the right side, so that might've actually been me lmao.
You target random for most of the match, is there a reason for that? Wouldn't targeting most coins or attackers be better for the possibility of KOing someone with a lot of coins.. or attackers cause if you have most coins then many people may attack you.
