    In this video, I give you my thoughts, along with some sound clips, of the most recent mod I have done to the Jeep, muffler delete :) A month or so ago, I had the rear muffler cut off and a straight pipe welded in, and while that slightly increased the sound (just barely), it really wasn't enough for my liking, as I typically prefer the sound of an exhaust over that of the naturally aspirated engine. I just went back and had the second muffler removed, and boy did that wake this up! My initial worry was it was going to sound like a ricer and super raspy; however, to my surprise (and, in part, basing it off StreetSpeed717's video, info card above), it sounds great! I chose to leave the OEM resonator tip on, and kept the full length exhaust (vs. a mid turn down).
    While I know there are a TON of aftermarket kits for the Gladiators, honestly, after reviewing all the videos and sound bites, I don't think ANY of them are worth their weight when compared to this super cheap mod you can do without ordering anything to help your Jeep Gladiator exhaust sound!
    Check it out!

    Great video Chrome Donkey! I have a 2021 Gladiator Willys Edition and I'm going to do the same mod to it. I have done similar mods before to the Challenger that I had with excellent results. No need to spend several hundreds of dollars for an aftermarket system. Thanks!

    It sounds amazing. Not too much like you would get with a full cat-back. I think I will go this route not to far in the future. Thanks for being the first to try this and sharing your feedback!

    • @Chromedonkey
      @Chromedonkey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy to! I figured, what's the worst that could happen? It's too loud, drones, raspy, I either pony up and get the cat-back, or weld the OEM muffler's back in :) I am very happy with the result!

      @@Chromedonkey I'm considering doing this. I also have the automatic and my worry was raspy high pitched tones between shifts at wide open throttle, but I don't hear any in the video (can't tell how hard you're on the throttle though). Do you notice any?

    • @Chromedonkey
      @Chromedonkey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pwrofgrayskull Nah, I don't really get any raspiness, which was one of my likes. It obviously sounds a little different during the shift itself, but I wouldn't classify as raspy.. To me, honestly, this is the best a v6 can ever hope to sound IMHO.. I have heard some of these aftermarket exhausts that SOMEHOW make it even louder and more obnoxious than just gutting both mufflers & leaving the resonator tip on.. Apparently that little resonator tip is doing quite a lot to mellow down the tone a bit on mine.

      @@pwrofgrayskull Wasn't loud enough :) Removing the rear muffler didn't really change much honestly. After removing both, definitely dialed in.

    • @Chromedonkey
      @Chromedonkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not a one! It's been rock solid since I did the mod. Peeps want more video of the sound (and apparently less of me talking lol), so I need to do another video, but I still enjoy the sound.. Best a v6 is gonna sound IMHO.. Some of these true aftermarket cat-backs make it sound way more raspy or unpleasant to me, especially for the price.. This is essentially free, just 2 straight pipes & the weld job.

    Can you please do a video on car seat room? Trying to decide between Silverado and gladiator and I have a 4 year old and a new born

    • @Chromedonkey
      @Chromedonkey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a good idea for a video; however, in the mean time if your decision is pressing, I have owned both (full size and mid-size). We have a now 6 year old and 3 year old, both in traditional car seats. When I had my Dodge Ram Rebel, the room in the back was AMAZING! TONS of room. Granted, the Gladiator does not have as much room, it "works" for 2 kids, but you certainly don't have room for anyone to sit in between the two car seats, whereas in the Rebel my wife could easily sit in between if she needed to. The bigger challenge is if you have an infant with the cradle OR a rear-facing car seat (both of ours are forward facing now), you do run a bit short on room and have to scoot the seats up, so depending on how big/tall you are, that may or may not work. For the record, i'm 6' 250 pounds, and it works right now with two forward facing seats with little room leftover; however, I did not own this vehicle when we had the infant seat and when our youngest was still rear facing, the passenger seat had to be scooted up a decent amount, but my wife is only 5'2, so it still worked for us. Hope this helps at least some in the meantime.

    Sounds great nice video but Q.... doesn’t void the warranty ??

    • @Chromedonkey
      @Chromedonkey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment. I certainly don’t think removing mufflers would have any impact on a warranty.. maybe if the reason you were trying to have repair work done under warranty and the work was some sort of exhaust or exhaust sensor issue, then perhaps.

    you said when you just took the big muffler off it didnt do much? I was considering doing that because thats what i heard sounds best without drone. It sounds like you thought it didnt make much difference. Let me know if after all this time you still feel removing both and leaving the black tip res is the way to go or if maybe removing just the big muffler is better? Thanks

    • @Chromedonkey
      @Chromedonkey  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yea, for me, I found the best setup (personal taste) to be zero mufflers and only the resonator tip (obviously the cat stays on). This gave a nice sound w/o any highway drone for my setup. I have since sold the JT, but was perfectly pleased w/ that setup no expensive exhausts needed :)

    What's your rear fender liner and fender setup?

    • @Chromedonkey
      @Chromedonkey  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The fender liners were the DV8's.. Honestly, I would NOT recommend them though, at least the fronts. Cheap stuff made in China, holes didn't line up properly, etc.. There are definitely better options out there.. For the fender's, they are the OEM body-color painted, but with the plastic shrouds completely removed to gain extra clearance. I then took some of that door bump guard trim you can get at any AutoZone, ran a thin bead of super glue down the center of the guard, and pushed them on & trimmed excess. I tried these first w/o the super glue, the included adhesive (like most included adhesives) just sucked, horribly, and they kept coming off in places.. Super glue fixed that problem ;-) Looks much better, to me anyway, with that black trim vs. a raw plastic edge that was actually sharp in places :)

      Not really any butt seat dyno increases. I can't imagine it would hurt, but likely doesn't help much either. Just gives it a much better tone, no droning, and if you're handy enough with a welder, free lol :)

    • @Chromedonkey
      @Chromedonkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, I need to do another video and capture more of the sounds. For me, as long as the Jeep is in 8th gear, I get no drone (at least what I consider drone). If it's hunting around gears, 6th, 7th, on uneven grades, sure, you definitely hear it. I have had exhausts in the past where at cruise (as in, cruise control at say 70mph on flat ground) and it just drone to the point of giving you a headache.. Mine doesn't come close to that. Assume you also left the resonator tip on?

    • @sc77
      @sc77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Chromedonkey sounds like a lot of resonance in the video. I trust you when you say there's no drone, but compare your audio to actual exhaust notes. Does the video accurately represent what you hear in the cabin?
