I agree with you. The songs back then were better. My dad always played those oldies. I listen to everything but when i go back and listen to those old songs like this one it just touches me. Brings me back memories when my mom and dad were alive.

I feel the same way! I've loved & listened to the Righteous Brothers all of my life. I remember singing to the radio when this song came out; I was in 10th grade and had The Biggest crush on Bill, lol!🥰
I actually went to the same high school as he did, Santa Ana High in Calif.(Not the same graduating class, of course😉)

I agree with you and I have noticed that todays music is missing the things that is absolutely needed in music the heart and soul of music and the vocals back then were just pure perfection without any auto tuning. I may be bias because I was born in 62 and the music was and still is amazing. It’s also missing the great stories in songs. I really love your reactions thank you.

Back in the day there were no computers or filters. Artists had to learn their craft. I think their is room for it all though. I think their are still some artists out there who still focus on learning their craft while using the tools now available to them. Ultimately cream does rise. That said revisiting these songs has made me realize that we now have a serious shortage of deep passionate love songs.

You don't have to apologize for saying today's music sucks...you never have to apologize for being RIGHT! There are still artists from the 60s and 70s out there performing AND recording, you just have to find them. The Righteous Brothers recorded an updated version of this song when they reunited in the 80s, including some of the artists that had passed on after the original version (including Elvis of course). I got to see them perform live a couple of times when I lived in Vegas in the mid-90s. They did an even further updated version live in those shows. It was quite emotional. Sadly, no one in the audience realized that Brother Bobby would be joining that heavenly band just a few years later. For me, the idea of the perfect eternal afterlife would be having a forever ticket to that show!

Hi, Jayy; Thomas here. I have a true story concerning this song: The opening line of this song was the last thing I ever said to my brother alive. Back in 1970, he was the guitarist for The Buddy Miles Band. That year, he did live shows with Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison; Buddy used to play drums for Otis Redding. My brother died of cancer back in 2019. I showed up at his deathbed the day before he died, and started singing to him, and reading from the Gospel to him (1 John). By my side at the time was my earliest childhood friend, Jonathan: Back in 1984, he was working for Prince when he made his 'Purple Rain' album. 35 years later, he showed up at my brother's deathbed. That was the last thing I said to him alive: "If you believe in forever, then life is just a one-night stand. If there's a rock n roll heaven; you know they've go a helluva band." At that point, he reached up and pulled me to him and said-'Tommy, I love you'-and we both started crying. Jayy, my brother also performed live at Jimi Hendrix's funeral, right after the service! True story.

@@mjsmcd Charlie Karp. He not only played guitar in Buddy Miles' band, but he wrote "I Still Love You, Anyway" for Buddy's "Them Changes" album. They did live shows with Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison (also The Grateful Dead among others). One of the last things I said to him alive was the opening line to "Rock N Roll Heaven", and then I started crying. He reached up and grabbed my hand. "I Still Love You, Anyway" was about a breakup with an old girlfriend. She showed up the next day and was actually with him when he died (she started crying, too, of course). She had never fallen out of love with him.

There's a newer version of the song...not performed by them i don't believe. That version includes one or two other rock stars that died since the original came out. In that version is mentioned, of course Elvis, Kurt Cobain...or at least Cobain is pictured in that video. It's pretty much the same sing except they mention "Elvis in the house again..." If you want to get emotional, listen to Bill sing The California Goodbye. It's a tribute to Bobby from the album Damn Near Righteous. It was the first recording he made 4 years after Bobby's death. 💔💪 No video. Audio only. Brings me to tears every time.

The difference that you're trying to say I'll help you a little bit it's not so much that the newer music really sucks but when you're used to music that touches your very soul like it did in the 50 60 70s and 80s and then you listen to the music that's more modern to today it's it doesn't touch you in the soul the same way that the older music did because they were singing from their soul and that made the music so much better and made it able to touch the soul of everyone why do you think so many people got along back then because music everybody it didn't matter who made the music music that good everybody wants to listen to and everybody wants to be a part of and that's the whole thing great music will always live on because great music is music that touches the soul and connects you to it in a way that makes you a part of it forever.

Please view The Stylistics song : You Make Me Feel Brand New.Great soul group of my era. Other great songs by them include : I'm Stoned In Love With You, Let's Put it All Together and many others. I was very fortunate to have been around to experience the great Rock N Roll songs of the late 50's, 60's, 70's , and 80's. My favorite being late 50's to 70's.
