Bobby died in 2003 and his tombstone says ‘If You believe in forever, life is just a one night stand’. Bill sings this song still, and the last line is “Bobby’s got a Helluva Band”
Great reaction and a big 'thank you' to you guys for doing this song! This song, IMHO, is often overshadowed by their many other (perhaps just better known) hits! This amazing tribute song deserves to stand as a 'great' all on it's own merits!
There is a live music video of this and another live of it on an old TV show called American Bandstand. Some of the names are changed because Elvis had passed when they sang on AB.
I just noticed that one of the writers of this song was great jazz vocalist Anita O'Day! For another suggestion, though, please check out Bill Medley's Grammy winning performance with Jennifer Warnes on I've Had the Time of My Life, from Dirty Dancing.
A good friend of mine was an old school, hired gun, guitar player. Studio musician witn zero flaws. Filled in for sick or injured guitar players all the way back to the early 70s. Played with Credence. Toured with Styx, that caliber of a guitar player. 2 years ago, my friend died at the age of 66. The party in his back yard. When I realized how many people, icons, were showing up, I went to every neighbor and told them what was going on. I called the city cops to let them know. We got wasted. Sun was coming up, not a neighbor was bitchin.
Great reaction. You are right-change from 60's look to 70's look-different clothes and hair-gotta keep up with the times-LOL Every time we loose and artist-I think of this song and add them to the band.
Actually was their comeback song in 74 resulted in being a big hit. To me their the greatest duo ever and agree with others who refer to them as the Dynamic Duo. Bill Medley ( deep voice) did a magnificent performance with the Blossoms which Darlene Love was in, great singer, Brown Eyed Woman. Was at the Playboy Club in 68. It's family friendly never got blocked.
You have Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Jim Morrison(The Doors), Jim Croce and Bobby Darin. The last two replaced Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens, as the were already honoured by Don McLean in "American Pie".
They updated this on a regular basis for their live shows (sadly). Now Bill honors Bobby. If you want something really fun, listen to Try to Find Another Man, a song they wrote together. There is video since they performed it on Shindig. Or serious blues try I Just Wanna Make Love to You. Have fun!
Elvis, Chuck Berry, John Lennon, Bill Haley, Carl Perkins, Little Richard, and Fats Domino were all still living when the song came out. Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper, and Brian Jones aren't mentioned.
Hey guys love what u do , but where have the dream theater videos gone those are the most fun to watch, the way u react to them is amazing because like everyone who watches them, the reactions on guys faces watching them play is truly amazing
Another song that is in the same vein is Night Shift by The Commadores. It honors Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson. If it hasn't already been reacted to, give it a listen.
Jimi Hendrix--Rainbow Bridge Janis Joplin--Piece of My Heart Otis Redding--The Dock of the Bay Doors (Jim Morrison)--Light My Fire Jim Croce--Bad, Bad Leroy Brown Bobby Darin--Mack the Knife
The Righteous Brothers Are The Best 💯, Great Reactions Everyone
I'm 56 and have heard this song my whole life and had no idea it was the Righteous Brothers. Wow I just learned something.

One of the songwriters Alan O'Day is there now too.
Song was co-written by Alan O'Day, who had a hit with "Undercover Angel".
