His duets with Carlene Carter (June Carter Cash's daughter) & Martina McBride are stellar. I had to hunt down who Carter was because I 1st heard their songs on Spotify & they didn't include her name. I live in the airplay capital for Mellencamp. He is a quirky personality . But a musical genius. the combinations of folksy instruments is his signature sound. ROCK in the USA, play guitar, hurts so good, authority song, crumbling down, pink houses, jack and Diane
All great tunes
Asked my wife to marry me with this song playing on MTV. This was filmed on the beach on Hilton Head island, SC
So glad to see you taking the trip down the rabbit hole. John Mellencamp is a treasure trove of hit music. Here's hoping you might be tempted to take a look at 'paper in Fire' and "ain't even done with the night".
Mellencamp=underrated. He’s like a non-pretentious Springsteen.
springsteen is a non-pretentious springsteen. no reason to take him down in order to prop up mellenkamp, who's been great ever since he dropped "cougar" from his name. :)
OMG AMEN to that!
@@kimbunchalastnames5357 BS. Mr Mellencamp ( Cougar ) had his share of pretentiosness while Bruce was giving us 4 hour concerts. I enjoy listening to them both but I saw my first Springsteen concert in '78 and it is still the best single show ever!
@@HiramLoki "BS"? for bruce springsteen, or bullshit? if it's the former, then yeah, that's what i'm saying. if it's the latter, then you should re-read what i wrote, maybe more slowly? lol. at any rate : yeah, i like them both, but mellenkamp just isn't playing in the same league.
🙄. How you figure that? Over 20 top 40 songs, never mind farm aid. Owned the airwaves throughout the mid 80s and 90s. Stop using the "underrated " statement on artists that aren't.
I live in the airplay capital for Mellencamp. He is a quirky personality . But a musical genius. the combinations of folksy instruments is his signature sound. No one does what he does, how he does it. So hard and difficult to be so brilliant, to be so unique. He stands alone with his musical vision.
Try John's Check it Out.
You'll love the lyrics too!
My favorite John mellencamp song! Little pink houses and small town are really good too.
He has an exceptional catalog! I can’t wait to see you react to more John
"Check It Out" by Mellencamp is one of my favorite songs by anybody. I think you'd love the lyrics.
This song puts a smile on my face every time I hear it
I’ve been a hip hop head all my life. I heard this song for the first time a few weeks ago at age 42. I feel like I grew up with this song. It’s nostalgia distilled.
Jemel you almost have 800,000 subscribers! I remember the good old days when you got your 100,000 plaque from TH-cam. So cool sir! Keep the videos coming!!
Great song! Saw John live back in the 80s. Excellent concert! ♥️🎼🎵🎶🇨🇦🇨🇦
Man he has so many good songs it's hard to narrow down a list. Some of my favorites are:
Small Town
Check It Out
Key West Intermezzo (I Saw You First)
Authority Song
Rain on the Scarecrow
Really though it's hard to go wrong picking anything of his. Great reaction!
I woke up in the middle of the night and just had to hear this song as it brings back a lot of childhood memories. I’m 50 now, hopefully still improving! Love your comments on this song. One of the best
Never miss a Mellencamp concert. That was the jam.. he was playing a autoharp.
John Mellencamp has many great songs! This is one of my favorites ❤️
The instrument John is playing is called a AutoHarp. Oh and Happy Anniversary JJ.
We were young and in proven , very insightful for a very young man ! Congratulations 🎈🎉🎊🍾 on 17 years, love is love .
Love Cherry Bomb! Hardly ever hear it on the radio anymore
An autoharp ❣️
My mom used to listen to this song when it was out, and she was in her 30's with a few kids. Now I am 41 and I hear it, and totally relate to what he is saying. Makes me cry sometimes.
I just love John Mellencamp and have since I heard the first song "ain't even done with the night" which is classic. John is just pure class in every way shape and form IMO. John Mellencamp is playing an AUTOHARP in this video. PEACE OUT.
Great reaction!! Love John Mellencamp and this song! He's such a good human!! Fun Fact: John is one of the Original Founders of "FARM AID" benefit Concerts and Relief Fund along with Willie Nelson and the great Neil Young (of Crosby, Stills, Nash and sometimes Young! lol!).... John has a HUGE catalogue of hits!!! Recommend: "PINK HOUSES" and "JACK AND DIANE" for starters.... :)
I had this on vinyl when it first came out, I wore this record out.
"Check It Out" is one of my favorites. Pink Houses, Authority Song, Get A Leg Up, Small Town, I Need A Lover, etc
More Mellencamp please. Anything of his is amazing. “It’s all good !!” as you frequently say 😅😅😅
I saw him in Charlotte North Carolina back in the 80''s. I've only been to three or four concerts in my life. His was most definitely the best!
Mellencamp's "Check it out" is an amazing song. So good it makes me emotional.
Same❤️
Awesome reaction!!! "Rain on the Scarecrow" is another amazing song. I love John Mellencamp :)
