    first I'm new here so I don't know if you have a CDL . If not get one. Second don't go over the recommended gvwr of the trailer or truck. I've been hauling for 12+ years part time,yes, I do have a day job.
    Now a bit of advice on charging your trailer..Don't run a cable to an inverter to charge your battery. Especially if your are running it when running your dump trailers pump. It will burn out the charger.
    Run heavy welding cables (color coded) from your battery back to your trucks bed. Using a two point plug (for use on truck wench) then attach the same to your battery in the box. Your alternator will charge your battery as you drive and while you are running your dump this will enhance your battery's longevity as well. Mine have lasted 4 to 5 years. Also if possible build a pull though shed (garage) great if you have to work on your trailer and to keep it out of the elements.-- it will last longer.
    I currently 1-3 loads a day to an area covering 6 counties . Go to your local gravel pits, landscaping yards, and lumber yards.
    You might be surprised at how may times you will get paid to deliver a small load.
    I charge a pick up fee ( this is for my time waiting at the pick up point and drive time/ unload time if manually done-- lumber etc..)
    This is also because many of my loads are short distance.
    I charge a mileage fee (loaded per mile fee--this money pays for fuel and maintenance of truck and trailer)
    Word of mouth advertising ---build a reputation of being on time and delivering great service. I just bought my new trailer and paid cash for it , as well as a new truck.Which the hauling completely pays for.
    What can I say I'm looking at doing this when I retire..
    Good luck.

    James I have a rear winch wiring kit on my F350. It has a quick disconnect battery jumper cables on it. I usually leave it hooked up anytime my trailer is being used.
    It is hooked directly to my batteries in the truck.. It charges the batteries and keeps them at peak voltage when dumping. This may also help with your slowness in your trailer.

    Doing hauling services you’re in the area to compete against single axle trucks/dumpsters. Your rates should be around $250-$300/load plus dump fee if applicable.
    I would’ve bid the job around $1800

    I’d suggest adding a 2nd pump and connecting it to the first in parallel to double flow rate. You can see the video on parallel vs series. Parallel doubles the flow rate, while series doubles the pressure. Or, you could replace the pump with a 2-stage pump for speed when low pressure is needed and lower speed when higher pressure is needed.
    th-cam.com/video/A611jYuKwaU/w-d-xo.html
    To double flow rate (parallel) you connect both pump outlet hoses together into one hose. To double pressure (series) you connect the outlet hose of the first pump into the inlet of the second pump.

    I only watched till 5:20 minutes to know you did it way too cheap!!! The wear and tear on your truck and trailer is way MORE then you think. Your time and the ability to haul large loads is much more valuable then you seem to think. Remember, you won't always be hauling, or working or making money to support your self or your family! Put MORE value on what you offer!! Trust me, I have a lot of time working, demo, excavating, hauling. Set a rate, stick to it, be on time, work safe. People will respect you AND your time more. Good luck.

      How much would you charge

    • @TheAlpine49
      @TheAlpine49 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Only you can determine how much to charge. Consider the time it takes to do the job? What equipment you are using? How much your equipment cost and how long you expect it to last? Maintenance cost?, etc. Ask around to get a general idea what others are charging? Also, you must take into account the time you spent generating that lead. The time you spend driving out a giving a quote, etc. After a while you'll be able to give most quotes over the phone if it's a standard job. Like hauling loads from point A to point B. I could go on and on.... DON'T be the cheap guy unless you ABSOLUTELY need the job. Be the guy that is fair, professional, communicates to his clients and works safe! Don't let your inexperience be a hindrance. And, one last tip. After giving a quote to do a job like demo and hauling... look them in the eye (sincerely).... and ask for the job. Then shut your mouth!!! You'll get more jobs that way. Good luck! I'm rooting for you.

    I don’t know if this is true for your trailer but a quick fix to make it go up and down faster is there may be some sort of knob the adjust the rate of fluid that goes through the system and could actually just be free so do some research and fiddling and you may find that you have that

    I’m from Atlanta definitely a cheaper market then California. And the dumpster companies charge 350 to 450 for 10 yards of concrete. They deliver a 20 yard dumpster and I can only fill it halfway. If you’ve got somewhere free to dump you should definitely still charge your customer dump fees. You’re going to eat through those tires way faster than you think. I try to avoid doing the 90° turns at all cost. And you should definitely rotate your tires on the trailer every time you get a Oil change. Just because you have a triple axle trailer.

  • @drape6011

    Good video and I remember when I was that cheap. Mainly I just wanted to get the job regardless of pay. You will learn fast the $100 per load won't even cover repairs. Ruin a couple tires and you made very little if anything. Hardest thing for was stop thinking what price you would be willing to pay and just charge. I wouldn't hire myself to do anything with my prices but people hire me everyday. Thank god. Good luck buddy.

Don't let these guys on here make you doubt yourself. You'll find your correct pricing after it bites you in the rear a few times. There are many customers that can tell your new and we definitely take advantage of that. Your doing great. $500 bucks a day seems like awesome profit except those days don't happen everyday. • @joelschermerhorn5447
      @joelschermerhorn5447 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      With my truck’s 2 batteries and the alternator, it seems to charge the dump trailer battery quickly. The cable is 12-10 gauge, so it can handle a fair amount of current going through it. But your dump trailer is a 16ft, right? So the amount of power it takes to lift yours is way more than what it takes to lift my 8x12.

  • @chrisao1987
    @chrisao1987 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Yeah a little cheap man including for the area you live in. But your just starting out, when you do it a few times you can look at a load and say damn that's going to take me about 10 runs. I was you my cost, for the material you hauled, would of been no less than $175 a load maybe more depending on the customer. So 1750 flat minimum. Then I normally charge a full tank off on each job when doing hauls like that. So say $150=1900+ disposal fee would of been the estimate. Since the trailer is on loan you need to get that paid as fast as you can so your prices will be higher. When your equipment gets paid your prices can afford to be more flexible and you can charge the $100. Make you a price chart and break down by type of material and charge accordingly.

Wait til you are pushed right through a Red light when it is raining. Wait til it is dry and you need to stop quickly.. well this is what I can tell you bring clean underwear.. because you are going to get oh shit events.. watch.. been there done that.. for what you have spent on that duality and trailer for a little more you could have a brand new tri axle ........ and trailer ... oh way safer ... you also will get more work that pays better. Hard to make good coin with a trailer it is to slow way to slow and way unsafe.. now I have a brand new Western Star Tri Axle , I can leave my extra underwear at home.. Dude be careful.. you get pulled over and you do not have a class A CDL they are going to impound your rig.. Oh it is very expensive also.. Do you have A Class A CDL? If not I suggest you get one pronto... oh and you have to pay more for your registration also , they will give you a really big ticket for that.. ask me how I know.. the laws here in Florida are the same where you are basically except for bridge laws

Yes, it's your trailer but you may want to consider stressing your equipment will never be worth it in the long run if anything under-load to protect your investment as the client or contractor, friend or not, won't be fixing your equipment nor replacing it.
