    OK this answers my questions. Sorry for the multiple comments in the timing video asking about this info.
    I am new to your channel and new to reassembling this model engine.
    Thank you for the very well done and informative videos.
    I am looking forward to the cam degreeing soon!

    Holy moly. So setting up 4v heads right with decreeing, lash adjuster prep, and rocker install is how many hours?

    Awesome and informative. I'm getting ready to install NEW las adjusters. New LAs should have oil in them. You putting them in oil, is the PRIMING them?

    • @JohnSmithRacing
      @JohnSmithRacing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but I would say that soaking is not required. It's a bit of an old habit carried over from pushrod engines. However, I highly recommend bleeding the lash adjusters down before installing.

    I was under the impression they need to be preloaded before installing, as long as crank is at tdc

    After I press my lifters down in the vice...some oil comes out, but when I take it out of the vice, it fully extends again and is completely firm again, can't press the tips in by hand

    Hey man stupid question but could i use the same process to remove them all . Replace timing components and then use the same process to put them all back on once timing is done?
    I would really appreciated your help

    • @JohnSmithRacing
      @JohnSmithRacing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you could use the same process.

    Hoping for a response givin the age of the video, but on freedom racings website the show a p# for exhuast side and a different p# for intakes.. to me i dont see why as it appears either one should do both intake and exhaust as it also appears thats what you are doing in the video. Greatly appreciate a response!

      I just checked their website and I do not see the tool that I used for the lash adjusters. The one I have is reversible and the one for a 2V is not. It might be worth giving them a call and see if they know when they will get it back in stock.

      @@JohnSmithRacing got ahold of freedom racing, stallion makes a new tool kit that works for 4v Intake and Exhuast, as well as 2v. Thank you for the response and figured id leave this here for anyone else looking for the proper tool. P# ST-126. Still waiting on it to arrive but they confirmed with me that it is the proper tool

    Hey John I am curious about your Cam Girdle setup. Did you just remove the link material between the caps?

    • @JohnSmithRacing
      @JohnSmithRacing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, thats correct. A lot of aftermarket cams do not clear the girdle material between the caps. Just make sure and mark them to keep them in order

    Stupid question but do you need to do the bleed down step if you use brand new lash adjusters?

      I dont know if you need to but I do it just to make sure.

    Hi John, I picked up 96 cobra and would like to rebuild the engine but I am new in fords. Do you know where I can get cylinder head rebuild kit, timing chain or maybe whole engine kit?

    • @JohnSmithRacing
      @JohnSmithRacing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Believe it or not, I get a lot of my parts from Rock Auto. I don't know if they have a kit for the whole engine but they do have timing chain kits, valve seals, rings and bearings.

      @@JohnSmithRacing Thank you for responding, I will definitely check out Rock Auto. In my research I keep running into DNJ auto parts do you know if they make good parts?

    Do you know the part# for the valve spring compressor for 4.6 4v intake valves,?

    • @JohnSmithRacing
      @JohnSmithRacing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      303-452 T93P-6565-A or T93P-6565-AR The only place I know that has them is Freedom Racing. www.freedomracing.com/valve-spring-compressor-4v-303-452-t93p-6565-a-t93p-6565-ar.html

    Can I do this without that tool?

    • @JohnSmithRacing
      @JohnSmithRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have seen some people use a screwdriver to slide the followers over the lash adjusters but I have never had any luck trying it that way. The tools in this video make it so much easier that for me it was worth purchasing.

    • @bobbydouglas16
      @bobbydouglas16 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnSmithRacing got it. When assembling everything after getting it all back from the machine shop, would it be best to leave the followers off while I set the timing?

  • @carterscreamery
    @carterscreamery 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This is completely wrong! Don't do this! Take a small Allen wrench and put it in the top of the lifter all the way to the bottom and push on the ball valve. Instantly releases all pressure. DO NOT USE A VICE LOL😢😢😢

    Nice tool but I just use a screwdriver I didn't feel like buying that tool when I did mine. Flat-head screwdriver easy-peasy
