Thank you for sharing your findings. Based on the published pictures of the internals, most probably the audio output electrical power is around 4 Watt RMS from that tiny IC chip. 20 Watt is probably what classic radios used to advertise as "musical power output".
I watched the entire video. Well done. It must have taken a long time, but a very well in depth review. I just got my RF919 two days ago. I figured out just about everything, but you filled in a few blanks for me, so thank you. It appears to be a keeper, but it does have some problems with overloading. In my area, I have several transmitters, both AM and FM that are close by. With a regular S-Meter, these stations are S-60 or better. I noticed on the SW band 7335 kHz was ghosting into 11620 ( RRI ) so I went into the settings and engaged the LPF, and this helped. Overall, I think it's a good, but not great radio. I don't think there is any radio out in the market with all these features. It's very enjoyable to use.

Great review, I think I’m sold. I originally ordered the Raddy RF320, but it appears Amazon is having a problem actually shipping what they sell. Stay away if you actually want to receive what you order.
Great review. I am not very experienced in all radio bands and frequencies so really appreciate your honest, in-depth and interesting review. Subbed so I can learn more from your videos. Thanks Fred. Ordered the RADDY by the way. Wifey not too with me at the moment! ;0)
G'day Fred.! Good job, great vid, thanks mate. Just a quick word to the wise😉. SS is the Worst material for an antenna. It can be as bad as -9.5 dbi. Just saying like.
Watched... Good Job! Muting while tuning and slow scanning speed seriously handicaps this radio. This has to improve for a radio to sell at this price point.
Yes thanks for the indepth review I have one of these radios coming soon in olive drab and yes I agree they should of put a bnc connector in the back of the radio. Your review was long and I watched the whole thing. Have a great weekend
It looks like a great radio but i have seen the price on amazon and i skipped it rightaway! There is an everything bubble which means everything is overpriced! I mean a 80 dollar XHDATA D808 does the same whereas this radio is around 270 dollars plus shipping is outrageous! You are better off buying the TECSUN PL990X which has not have Airband but it does not mute when tuning!
The D808 sells for around £85 or $105 here. Not tested it though but i doubt it will match the sound quality of this Raddy. You could have a party with it. The tuning mute is a shame.
Thanks for doing this in depth review. The fact that the radio is SSB compatible is great! The radio seems good in general but I think I'll hold off on purchasing one for now because the tuner doesn't receive while tuning the main dial with no option to get rid of that problem tells me they did not take the shortwave seriously enough. The shortwave spectrum is broad and one should be able to tune quickly through the frequencies without having to stop on each increment just to hear what is there.
Just finished watching every second was a great review im now thinkn of selling a couple of radios that I don't really use to fund the purchase of this 1 ...thanks again for the full review... id be mostly interested in this for shorwave cheers Ged in Ireland..
And yes that 3 way switch is flimsy, slack at best! First multi band receiver and quite impressive from a newbie’s perspective. A lot of excellent features that outweigh the few negatives as you mentioned and in my opinion are small compared to what on offer in one package and portable. I love this Radio already!! Also that damn lockout switch caught me out for abit too.😂 I’m guessing a long wire antenna is plugged into the 3.5mm jack? I noticed there’s another 3.5mm socket next to the flimsy back switch, is there a difference between the two sockets? Completely new on this. Your video is coming in very useful deciphering the illogical instructions. Great video all round 👌
Hi. Glad you like your radio. A long wire goes in the back 3.5mm jack socket. The top jack is for a loop antenna. Just rem to adjust the loose switch for the freq range your tuning. Good luck.
Yours is a version 1. Version 2 has 2 improved antenna switches and a battery pack replacing the 18650's. It also comes with a medium wave bar antenna. Several firmware versions are out but they are known to brick radios so I advise you to avoid them for now.
Watched this video and like the radio. If I were going to get one, I'd pick up this one. But currently I'm spoiled by an SDR which does all the same functions. This would be more portable, though!
Hiya lad quick question I have the mini version of this, how is the battery on your current model? I’ve noticed with the small one it has a fair bit of parasitic drain, 9/10 when I’m doing a readyness Audit on my kit that one radio always needs attention otherwise it completely dies and then have to remove the battery and charge that way Have you noticed any drain on your receiver after it’s been idle for a while? considering picking this one up alao
I think you mean the RF 320 ?. I ve not used that radio since i reviewed it so cannot say. The RF919 i recently used on the big net and upon taking out of the box the battery had dropped just one bar since the review. I ve only had to charge it twice.
It's way over priced for what it is. LW is over loading I noticed probably MW also. I'd rather go for something long established like the Sangean 909X2 and a Uniden scanner for the VHF and UIHF bands
I'd like to know, what is the manufacturer, and model of the black radio in the bottom left of your opening, title screenshot. Have you reviewed this radio? If not, could you, please? It looks like a great portable radio, for camping. Thank you
Evening Fred. Am just going through a few of your excellent Videos. I am again and again impressed with your knowledge and your always really positive presentation! Now, even though I said I won't be buying anything since I have a ton of Radios, I feel "the itch"... that itch can only be scratched with a new radio!😊 Question: you put so much work into your videos, I would like to buy in a way that also gives you a percentage. How can I do that? Are you affiliate with Amazon or Raddi direct? If I know how a few penneys come your way I will order there, once I have decided how far I want to increase my mortgage with Christmas in my eye...😊. Thanks for info!
@@CB-RADIO-UKExcellent. I will order with Amazon. Do I write your Name and the Serialnumber of the Radio into the comments or how do they know that this sale was through you?
Many of these type of radios (ATS) perform very much the same as they share IC chips. I think this model exceeds with its audio due to a good amp and speaker arrangement.

Watched it all, And thanks for giving it a really good going over, Just the kind of thing im looking for when trying to make a decision 👍 Oh and you got a follow as well.
Thanks
Watched all the way through. Very good review
Much appreciated!
Watched. I bought this radio and plan on using your vid as a reference. Great job.
Thanks. I hope you enjoy the radio and try different antennas.
Watched. I would have liked an unmuted tuning option: there's something about tuning through a band and listening to the signals coming in and dropping off.
Thanks. Yes i agree. I ve heard there may be a firmware fix coming.
@@CB-RADIO-UKhi yes the firmware was avail but turned some radio's into a brick I believe the firmware was pulled and now not avail
I watch your video from beginning to end, this radio is pretty versatile, I'm getting very interested, the price is making me think hard, I'm in S Africa & the rate of exch is suffocating
The receive audio on shortwave is really good. I would have like to have even a wider bandwidth(9,10,16KHz) to get the max audio fidelity out of the signal
Great review, I think I’m sold.
I originally ordered the Raddy RF320, but it appears Amazon is having a problem actually shipping what they sell. Stay away if you actually want to receive what you order.
The RF919 is a whole different radio to the 320. Much better all round.
Watched. Great video! Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Great review. I am not very experienced in all radio bands and frequencies so really appreciate your honest, in-depth and interesting review. Subbed so I can learn more from your videos. Thanks Fred. Ordered the RADDY by the way. Wifey not too with me at the moment! ;0)
Glad it was helpful. Its a good bit of kit for a starter as its not to complicated to use compared with SDR based radios.
Thanks. Yes I am hoping there will be a Firmware update soon.
@@CB-RADIO-UK According to the info on their website there is an updated firmware that solves the mute issue :-)
Deffo watched to the end...very tempting radio....great video and info...thank you very much.
Much appreciated
Yes thanks for the indepth review I have one of these radios coming soon in olive drab and yes I agree they should of put a bnc connector in the back of the radio. Your review was long and I watched the whole thing. Have a great weekend
Thanks for sticking with it.
watched the entire video 😀 good review
Much appreciated!
Excellent review 👍
Glad you liked it
It looks like a great radio but i have seen the price on amazon and i skipped it rightaway!
I agree, I found the D808 to be superior on SSB. the 919 is a nice enough set but not at that price.

Watched and learned a couple of things, had mine a couple of weeks now and very impressed. The analogue vu meter would have been great. Cheers 73s
Thank you. Yes a simple signal meter would be an improvement.
Watched impressed thinking of buying
Thanks for sticking with the review. What i cannot get over is how sweet the bass is in FM or MP3. Overall it offers a lot for the money.
Watched. great review. thanks
Thanks for watching!
Watched. And fully enjoyed. It really is a shame that the frequency jump causes sound dropouts as it was looking so good. Back to my 660 we go.
Thank you.
when you're critiqued heavily by Fred, that means you've got a good thing!
Just finished watching every second was a great review im now thinkn of selling a couple of radios that I don't really use to fund the purchase of this 1 ...thanks again for the full review... id be mostly interested in this for shorwave cheers Ged in Ireland..
Thanks for watching the whole thing. I think its a great all round radio.
Watched, thanks for detailed review. New to Ham/cb and I’ve subbed!!
Now bought the radio.😊
Welcome aboard!
Also that damn lockout switch caught me out for abit too.😂
I’m guessing a long wire antenna is plugged into the 3.5mm jack?
That remote control app looks pretty sweet!
Pretty good explained! Thks. 73, Joachim
Watched this video and like the radio. If I were going to get one, I'd pick up this one. But currently I'm spoiled by an SDR which does all the same functions. This would be more portable, though!
Thanks for watching. I ve got SDR but its the sound quality of the speaker set up which sets this radio apart.
Buttons on a radio are a must hmm buttons
If I had this inn 1983 I would literally shit myself with joy
Yeah we would have. Like a legal SSB CB radio.
Watched and thanks for the in-depth review…I’ve got one on the way to me 👍
Thank you. You should get included the new rod antenna. See video tomorrow.
Watched. Very good.
Hiya lad quick question I have the mini version of this, how is the battery on your current model? I’ve noticed with the small one it has a fair bit of parasitic drain, 9/10 when I’m doing a readyness Audit on my kit that one radio always needs attention otherwise it completely dies and then have to remove the battery and charge that way
Have you noticed any drain on your receiver after it’s been idle for a while? considering picking this one up alao
I think you mean the RF 320 ?. I ve not used that radio since i reviewed it so cannot say. The RF919 i recently used on the big net and upon taking out of the box the battery had dropped just one bar since the review. I ve only had to charge it twice.
Great review! Thanks! Watched!
Thank you
Kind of reminds me of my old Panasonic RF-877 radio
Thanks for the review.
Fantastic , cheers matey 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
It's way over priced for what it is. LW is over loading I noticed probably MW also. I'd rather go for something long established like the Sangean 909X2 and a Uniden scanner for the VHF and UIHF bands
LW is terrible indoors. All my radios suffer.
I'd like to know, what is the manufacturer, and model of the black radio in the bottom left of your opening, title screenshot.
Have you reviewed this radio? If not, could you, please?
It looks like a great portable radio, for camping. Thank you
Hi. Do you mean the ATS 20. th-cam.com/video/7FKB-1NSkps/w-d-xo.html
@CB-RADIO-UK yes.
I saw the ATS 20, after I asked the question.
Have you ever reviewed that radio, & is it any good?
Thank you for your reply 👍
Yes link is above. I would also look at the ATS 25
@@CB-RADIO-UK Appreciate your advice, reply, & your videos.
Great work!
Cheers 🍺
watched, I watch all your vids... 🙂
Many thanks :-)
Hi. Yes i do get a cut from Raddidity
@@CB-RADIO-UKExcellent. I will order with Amazon. Do I write your Name and the Serialnumber of the Radio into the comments or how do they know that this sale was through you?
Would like to see how well shortwave performs compared to other portables and desktop radios.. The muting while tuning is a show stopper for me.
Many of these type of radios (ATS) perform very much the same as they share IC chips. I think this model exceeds with its audio due to a good amp and speaker arrangement.
Frid in the shed your TH-cam videos are awesome my friend
Just ordered mine off amazon, i hope its worth the high dollar i paid for it.
Great video! Watched it twice
Glad you enjoyed it!
i seen this on Amazon it looks interesting.. be puting in my order next few days.. i been lookin at the Chinese knock off that also looks impressive
The dsp muting on tuning is a deal breaker for me . I like to manual scan . I often use a Tecsun S2000 and that's fine . The h501x is ok too but the pl330 I have is terrible for muting . I rarely use it .
Watched. But it looks the same as the Retekess TR113?
Yes it mostly is. Different batteries.
I will stick with my Belka DX at the moment due to mute problem.
And the click stop tuning dial, shame.
