Ngl kinda looks like it was in a fire lol, but also the rear plastic shouldn’t come off like the 400ex does. Just the seat on the 450’s should come off.

You should a case protector for that front chain sprocket in case you chain ever falls off it won’t bust a hole in your bottom end

Happened to me on my blaster because they don’t make them
Pretty sure there is two oil drains. Ones for the wet clutch and ones for the engine. Double check that also. Nice quad. Had one and turned it into a TPC TRIKE. Check it out. Good luck.
The oil is probably as new as the air filter
Pretty high tech machines. They have a mode called “holy shit did this thing just turn into a rocket ship” mode.
And about 3/4 of the way through the throttle of 2nd gear the front end starts to lift up, a neat little feature to remind you that you bought a race machine and not a farm quad. Pretty high tech stuff.
It's all stock except the muffler carb nerf bars air filter jetting chain..lol. who the hell taught his kid out of negotiate you don't make an offer before you even seen it

That front sprocket looks hammered
I have the same quad and same year! Awesome quad . I think the leak jet and pilot jet run a little small on that carb so if you want better throttle response right off the bottom you might check those jets. Massive torque on that quad . The 2004-2005 models are preferred by the Baja racers because they have a stronger transmission. I think those quads have won the Baja 1000 a few times . You can run those quads at like 60 mph though anything and the suspension soaks it up .
Amazing bikes my first bike was one of these about 10-12 years ago and I loved it man. 2007 trx450 electric start. Never gave me any trouble other than ripping 5th gear out of it a week after the warranty was up lol. Also had a kickstart 05 model all black like this one with a big bore kit, 12.1 vertex piston, stage 2 hot cam, pro circuit full exhaust with the carb off of my 07 because it was bigger and my 07 was tore up at the time. Geared 15/36 I use to set yfz450’s out three bikes and give them the hit just to run them down and get them by about a bike in only 300ft.
2 drain plugs, two oil fill caps. One is for crank, one is for transmission. They are separate.

Since you have never owned a 450 before I’m just letting you know that trx450’s don’t like to reved out like you did at the end of the video. They have more power when you don’t rev it so high
That's exactly how the 400ex is. I have a woods build on mine for midrange and max torque is at 5900rpm and max horsepower is at 6900rpm. But rev limiter is at 9k
That depends what they have for parts. This one being stock definitely not. But if you have a big web cam they like to be revved high
The 06 450's were revvers but the 04-05's weren't

Change all fluids, get a UNI filter, new front sprocket, and add a Glann case saver.
Recently sold my 2005 Honda trx450r that was decked out with all after market parts for 3200 I regret it tho
Over paid, needs valve job, been on fire, no lights, i bought an 08 polaris outlaw 450mxr (ktm 450 powered) it walked all over these things. I also paid $2000 for it with 6 hours. We the viewers give this advice because we’ve been doing it a little longer. None the less respect the vids. The seat is separate from the plastics the plastics are supposed to be bolted on

It was hard to see but the front small sprocket looked well worn. Maybe thats why the other guy tighten the chain so much so it wouldnt slip under excessive braking.
The plastics stay on. Only the seat comes off
I also have a 2004 Honda trx450r and I love it mine has a 97mm piston with a 16.3 to 1 compression ratio
Those are fast 450s, but they still dony compare to the Yamaha and suzukis power and torque, or factory suspension
My 08 yfz Just has exhaust and cam mod and it does pretty good but 04-05 450r don’t have the low end grunt that the 06 and up do but I raced a 08 450r with a crf cam and a sparks and I capped him 😂😂

Jacob Dewitt LOL, I have a 2006 LTR 450 with a pipe, k&n, cherrybomb and a fuel programmer and out at the sand dunes there hasnt been a bolt bike to beat me... especially the trx. And the LTR IS SUPER WIDE FOR IT YEARS! And had awesome suspension from the factory unlike the trx I believe the yamahas and Suzuki were way ahead of there time compared to a trx.
They are pretty good units just 04-05 was a tad big sluggish as far as stock goes for its competitors and the Ed’s has starter clutch trouble like crazy

Make sure to change the oil, oil filter and trans fluid quite often i just had to fully rebuild one because a main bearing blew up

Dude so glad you got one finally! Your going to love it!
Ok first things first if you have a full exhaust you need to take the air lid off and keep it off , next you’ll need to check what the bike is jetted at , for it to run at it’s full potential you’ll need a 45 pilot jet and a 170 main jet , next you’ll need to turn the air fuel screw at the bottom of the carb at 2 turns out.
drain the oil and check the oil filter. 04-05 trxs their cranks yo yo junk so if there is copper in your oil filter you might have a problem!

I got my 2005 TRX450r for $1,800 last year. It ran and drove just fine. It actually had like no problems. I guess I got a killer deal.

Quad prices are stupid high lately. I am in the market for a running condition quad that needs some TLC for a winter project with the kiddos. I would say COVID has people looking into new hobbies to get into and spend more time in the outdoors with family and friends - which is great.

2vintage I’m in the Shawano area of Wi and looking for a TRX450r and saw lots of them absurdly priced. The one you bought had been the one I’d been looking at for a while. I got a Raptor 250 currently and want an upgrade to a Honda or Suzuki 450. Not a big fan of the YFZ to be 100% honest.
Get the Honda 700xx next. Keep up the lineup of Honda’s baddest racing quads. 400ex, 450r next in line is the 700xx. Keep up the great videos.
That radiator light is only meant to let you know that your coolant flow is good, when you turn the key, the light should shine for a little and turn off.

Get a Kfx450r. They’re fun too. I’d like to see how they compare to the trx. I want a trx but they’re all super expensive. $5000 and up over here. I got my Kfx for $3250. It came with nerf bars, a set of maxxis razr tires, a set of paddle tires, a full fmf power core 4 exhaust and it still came with a box full of goodies. Now they are also in that $5000 price range.
Those kickstart trx450s are the best sport quads Honda ever made
Use chrome wheel cleaner on that motor with a hard bristle tooth brush. Spray it on in sections then scrub then immediately hose off. I use eagle one chrome wheel cleaner. You’ll be very happy with the results

Ah I did guess right in your last videos comments. Im telling you to make that a real monster find the original 2004 HRC kit. and put full exhaust you will not believe how much torque a 2004 450r can be. I have Curtis sparks full system but its loud.
stock my 2001 416ex could almost hang with it because I had suspension on both machines setup for my weight. but once the HRC was installed it was a beast and scarry fast for an atv. if you really think stock its powerful your in for a HUGE suprise if you cam yours :)

WHEN STARTING A TRX 450R kickstart DO NOT i REPEAT DO NOT GIVE IT GAS. because of way decomprssor works if it fires before top dead center it can spen backwords and split the case open. Seen it happen to 3 guys at the track here in CT.

ppl really dont understand how fast those things r its insane i had one really recommend it for experienced riders things r crazy fast
When tightening/ loosening the chain I always used channel lock, it works great.
Looks like someone raced it then put it back stock or just ran the crap out of it. I mean it runs fine, so prob just some money in wiring, lights, and plastics and you have a decent quad. You can heat wrap that exhaust and it will make it look way better and help keep heat off your plastics and inside leg.
I Don't comment on people's Vids BUT In 40yrs of being in bikes & workin in motorcycle shops since 18yrs old here in TN. Ben at a honda Yamaha Suzuki Shop for ovr 23yrs I've learned NEVER TAKE A SELLERS WORD ON ANYTHING FOR EXAMPLE THT AIR FILTER & YES ITS BEN ON FIRE OR BEN AROUND A FIRE. Adust valves immediately good luck WickOn ✊

Dude got bad news but first Hondas are usually very reliable but all 450s are small high compression high horsepower for the cc size the blow up regularly if you don't maintain it ALL THE TIME and do a freshen up rebuild every year or two
Ground a wire to your temp sensor wire to keep the fan on and keep it cooler

Those are not to make it look cooler those are to keep mud from hitting you in the eye. those have been cut down or are aftermarket I suggest getting new front fenders. She was definitely in a fire whether she was on fire or just in another fire we don’t know.

Sounds like the timing chain needs new tracks , I know it’s common for kfx450 timing chain tracks to wear out and yea you should get a case saver , I had bought a 300ex and had the case get cracked
